Free Riviera Sounded like a good deal

63 Chevy II, three on the tree, 194 ci six. Bought it for $400 from the owner of the gas station I worked at. The shift linkage used to bind between first and second if you didn't move it a certain way...

I remember one night coming home from some party and drunk off my a$$.. My buddy was in much better shape so he was driving it home and me in the passenger side. He couldn't work the linkage right so I had to reach over - head bobbing and ready to puke - to work that 1-2 shift with my left hand.

It was pretty beat, but in my High School it was cool enough to be voted as one of the top 3 popular cars by our graduating class. Sold it to someone for $700. He wanted to make a drag car out of it.

First car a 76 Caprice 2 door with a 400. You could pack a lot of drinking bud's in that car!
First Buick (at heart) was a 62 scout with a little old V6 in it, a 225 Odd-fire Buick! Quite a bit of power in that thing and I drove it about 30 miles or so to college every day.
First real Buick was an Apollo, don't remember what year it was but it was a good little car that I bought for the wife.
Still working on my first Nailhead!

Well at least it's not a pair of cord pants. You remember the ones with the wide cords running down them!
I can relate to the mags on the back only. We did what we could on the budget that we had.

First car and Buick was a 1970 Skylark 350 2bbl, great car. Blew the trans after a couple years and sold it to a friends brother. 2nd car was a '71 GS Stage 1, naturally would like to still have that one. Sold it to the same guy that bought my Skylark. My first two cars were his first two cars.

I really liked the car itself. I even bought a set of the 427 cast iron headers for it from a guy for $25. Boy, I sure wish I had those today. I never felt anything I did to the car made it any more powerful. On the plus side, I never blew anything up in it, which is saying a lot for a 16-17 year old kid :beers2: When I traded it in in 1972 for that `67 GTO I was in hog heaven. Fastest thing around at the time but that was short lived. I blew 3 engines in a year before I figured out that you can't treat a Pontiac like you can treat a Ford or Chevy. Of course, being an 18 year old kid at the time probably had a little to do with it  I wouldn't mind having another `64 XL. Red w/red interior would be great. 427/425hp would be even better.

    1st car was a '64 Pontiac Tempest 326 I got when I was 14.
Tinkered with it for 2 years till I got my license.

    1st Buick was the '66 Riviera I bought in 1981 when I was 20.

In between those I had a '67 Rustang, and a '72 Cutlass Supreme.

my first car was a 70 Skylark that I bought for $700 in 85' when I was 17...drove it for a couple of years and got right into a 70 Stage 1 4 speed car by the time I was 19...bought that car for $2700. Should have kept that GS and got rid of the first wife that hated the car

My first car was a 65 Chevy II station wagon that I bought from my parents. Had a 283 and a three on the tree, rubber floor mats. They bought it new. My first Buick was a 41 somthin or other, it never ran and I sold it that way. First one that ran is a 69 Wildcat 4 door that I bought on an auction for 375.00. 69000 original miles-still have it. :beer
