First car, a '67 Olds Delmont 88 no-post 4-door with a 2bbl 425 and single exhaust. Ran on 7 cylinders but would still lay down a strip of rubber. First Buick a 1978 Buick Regal Sport Coupe, two-tone silver over black with T-tops and the first year with the 3.8 Turbo. Gorgeous car, sold it for $1600 in 1988 but should have kept it and not the woman I later divorced anyway.ou:
My first car was my '70 Skylark in 1988 that I still own, pictured below. I bought it from my Dad for $500. Two years later I bought a '70 Skylark Convertible that we painted black and put a 455 in. Since then I've had a '70 Skylark 2door Post, '70 GS 350, '87 Turbo T, '87 Regal that I put a great running Buick 350 in, '72 Skylark that I put a 455 in and I've owned my '70 GS 455, 4-speed :3gears: convertible (originally a 3-speed manual) for 11 years-it should be done by the end of next summer finally. Ken
First car was a '66 GS project I bought from a friends older brother for $50. It wasn't done when I started college, so I bought a 67 Fairlane with 289 and 4 speed as a driver.
'71 Skylark, circa '82. Bought it from my girlfriend- now wife of 25 years. 1st year apprentice working out of town in '83. Bringing home about $100/wk, putting about $80/wk into the car just for gas! Sold it to a lady up the road in '84.About 2 months later one of her sons made a horseshoe out of it by broadsiding a hydro pole. Car had 22K miles on it when I sold it.
My first car was a `64 Ford Galaxie XL 2 dr. hdtp. Blue w/white vinyl top and white bucket seat interior. 352 automatic which I later changed to a 4 speed. It didn't help, though, there wasn't a 327 Impala on the planet that couldn't beat it. Dad had Buicks but his collector cars were mostly Fords, which is why I ended up with the Ford. After graduation I traded it in on a `67 GTO HO/automatic, then went to Chevys. My first Buick was a new `87 charcoal grey T-Type. Wish I would have kept that one. Bill
My first "car" was an 84 Mercury Topaz GS that I got when I was 21. My first "real" car was a 91 Crown Vic Interceptor that I got when I was 24. My first Buick was my 70 GS 350 that I got when I was 25. I still have that GS and its still my favorite car. It'll probably remain that way too.
First car was a 1956 Meteor Victoria 2 dr. hdtp. with a 292ci engine. My first Buick was a '68 LeSabre 400 2 dr. hdtp., and my first GM ! :TU:
1988 Ford Mustang (not 5.0) sedan in dark garnet red 1966 Skylark Convertible in a non-factory bright shiny red...should be burgundy mist
First car and first Buick was the 1964 Electra 4dr HT that I helped my Grandma buy in the fall of 1963 at the age of 5. Still have it parked in the garage at the office. Not real nice anymore and hasn't been started in many, many years. You could make 10 Honda's from one of it's quarter panels! Surf Green Poly with a Fawn interior. Not exactly a chick magnet like Duane's Mustang convertible :moonu:
First was a 72 Ford Bronco First Buick(second car)was a Flame Orange w/wht vinyl top 72 GS455. Buckets/Floor Shift A/C car. I sold it to my Mom,she drove it for years...
First car was first Buick 1966 GS post car with 4.56 rear gear, power glide with shift kit and headers. Aqua color with black bench seat. My Uncle bought new from Foltz Buick in Williamsport
My first car was a 1954 Hillman Califorian, it wouldn't pull the skin of a rice pudding. The second day I had it I blew the engine, I took it down the motorway (freeway), it took about 1/2 hour to get to 60mph and then it went bang. Got a tow truck home, took it back to the dealer the next day and told him he had sold me a dud and he gave me my money back, I thought he was going to tell me to get lost, I would have. That was 1969. First Buick a '70 GS
Hi Bill, I was working at a Ford dealer in 1963-65. I loved the '63 and '64 full-sized Fords. If you wanted to go fast safely, you needed at least the solid-lifter 335 hp 390 with the police suspension. The juicy-lifter 390 that was rated at 300 hp (but wasn't anywhere near that) and the 352 were dogs. I once saw a '63 352 Ford get beaten (badly) by a 225 slant 6 Plymouth Valiant. I loved the style of the fastback hardtops and convertibles. Despite the lack of performance in the lower horsepower cars, they were pretty decent mechanically.
My first car (1992) was my 1971 GS 350 hardtop. I still own this car and have a major restoration project underway. Can't wait to finally get it done, I have been collecting parts in preparation for this project for years. I held on to it over the years because I knew I would regret it if I didn't. Steve
