Bargain prices In November of 1973 (gas crisis) I bought my documented 1970 GS Stage 1 Convertible for $500.00. I drove it up til the early 90's. I still have it and it's rust free. June 1974 I bought my '67 427/435 Corvette for $3000.00 from the original owner. All original unrestored. I still have it. October 1974 I bought another '67 427/390 Corvette for $3100.00. I still have it. Currently undergoing a frame off resto. I have since bought about 15 more collector cars, including more Buicks, that I will keep forever. I guess my kids will luck out. Dennis

Hi All, In 1982 I bought my 71 (GS455 4 speed) for the pricely sum of $800.00 and had to spend 300.00 to get it safety checked. It needed exhaust and the snow tires replaced on the rear! I had a 69 Skylark w/ a 430 in it that was almost finished (needed paint). My friend saw the GS on the way to highschool and told me, I sold the Skylark that day for 650.00 and borrowed the 150.00 from my Dad. I've spent a little more on it since then....... ou: I don't think I ever paid my Dad back!
Anytime I'll take a free car like this one :TU: Brad C , do you knew at that time (78) that the car you just bought was something special ?
1985, 70 GSX Stg 1 4 spd $6500, still have it 1985, My son Tony at 15 yrs old bought a 70 Stg hdtp everything original and correct $1500 still has it. 1986, 68 sportwagon 28k miles $1500 still have it, no more tow car, all go car ! 1980 ,1953 Buick Skylark Conv #11 ,paid all of $75 for it with correct cont kit. don't ask what I sold it for!
My 1969 Wildcat was $900 back in 1994. I bought the Western Body and frame for $600 in 2003. I bought the Southern four door floor and quarter panel donor for $400 in 2002. The new top in the basement was $400. So I guess I've paid $2300. My 1980 LeSabre was a $125 puchase from a backyard sit of four years with a blown engine. Still haven't topped $800 total. Best and most favorite car I've ever owned period! WIll be a sad day soon when its gone. My 1985 Regal was a $250 blown engine purchase. Its had its ups and downs and currently my investment is 'round $3500. I absolutley hate this car and its currently engineless and serving as one heckuva good workbench. So Ive done really good investment wise two outta three. And thats not too bad :TU:
Yea, I knew it was some kind of factory show car and that is what it should really be called, not a prototype. The prototype name was stuck on it back in the early 80s and that is what it has been know as since. It was pretty well known around the Columbus area even before I bought it.
Man!! The '53 Skylark would have been a keeper to me! That is one of my all time favorites. I missed one locally in 1990 that sold for $1,700. that ran and drove. I saw it sitting for years here and there around town, but never asked about it.It was abandoned at a tranny shop .The shop rebuilt the transmission and the owner never picked it up. Tranny shop owner got a mechnic lein title and sold it for the repair bill 8 years later. Figured they would want 10,000 or 15,000 for it,which was the going price for one in nice condition . When I learned that it had sold for 1,700. , I was sick for a week! Lesson learned. Whenever I see something that catches my eye,I don't hesitate to ask about it.

Mine started out going to look at a pair of bucket seats for my 65 SS Impala. The seats were in a 65 Skylark 2dr hardtop and in good condition. The longer I looked at the car the more I liked it. The 4bbl carb was missing so Iasked how much for the whole car. He said $175. I told him to have it running by Friday and I would be down with the cash. That was in 1990 and Ive had it ever since. I'm finally rounding up parts to make it a 4spd. GS clone. JUst about there. Can't wait to get started. Tim

I was hoping to get it back on the road this year, but it's looking doubtful right now. :ball: I paid $500 for the 66 off E-Bay in Dec 2005. I haven't done anything with the car yet, plan on starting it if I ever get the 68 done. o No: Dan :3gears:
