I guess my best deal was $4100 for a brand new 1972 Skylark350 Sun Coupe in August 1972. Orange with white interior and top. Beautiful car which unfortunately I traded in on a Corvette in 1975 when it only had 36K miles on it.

Now days you can't even get a good paint job for that.

I must have gotten the worst deal in this thread.....

I knew exactly what I was looking for.... as rust free as I could afford.

I bought my 1970 GS350, mostly untouched, #'s matching car with 101K miles, nice driver, all original except for new paint. Car is from CA and is cleaner today than my 1972 Skylark was in 1982 (when I bought it in Rochester, NY)

    $5900

Then I found this site and started really learning about Buicks!

Nah. He took the motor apart and fixed it back then. Drove it HARD for 8 years and took the whole car apart. Now he's FINALLY putting it back together after doing a frame-off restification (including Stage 2 motor) all by himself. His cousin sprayed it, the rest he did on his own.

Bought my '78 Electra Limited in 1985 for $3500.
    '70 Skylark Convertible in 1986 for $2200.
    '71 Skylark in 1987 for $400.
    '65 GranSport in 1991 for $275.
    '87 Turbo Regal in 1992 for $8500

The Grand National new listed over $18,000. , I paid $16,800 plus tax. The GSX I bought in January, do not want to say what I paid. But when I was at Indy July 1 a guy from Illinois asked if it was for sale and I said NO. Showed him all good about car and some flaws it has. Then I asked him what he thought my GSX was worth. He said if it was his and he would not take anything less than $110,000. for it. Was this any of you guys, I never did ask his name. He was driving a big fancy dually pickup.

In 2001, I bought it from the original owner. It cost me about 1/3 of what I spent on it so far. And so far I bought 4 tires, had rear bumper replated and added new dual exhaust.

    mjoe7 In the beginning God...

    I paid...

In 2003 I paid $2,700.00 for a 1967 Skylark with a 300 and a bunch of rust. It ran well, put a few grand into it, then sold it for the same a few months later to buy...
In late 2004 I paid $7,000.00 for my 1970 GS/455 clone. I have spent a 1/4 of that on it already and still spending. It's real strong now and I got all the bugs worked out thanks to this website, but there is always something to fix or replace.
It might be for sale next year?
    I miss my 1998 WS6.
    Later;

It will make any of you sick what I paid for mine...

    1970 GSX Prototype bought in 1978 - $1850
1971 Black GSX bought in 1982 - $7000 (I really had to think about that one...)
1986 GN - $49 over invoice - I bought one and my mom bought one same day.
1972 Electra - free from my Grandpa's estate.
    1972 Centurion convert - $4000 in 1994 (I think?)
    1975 Skyhawk - $1500 in 2001
...There are others, but you all get the idea.

If I sold anything now, the capital gains tax would kill me!

Someone should compile a list of the top ten rarest cars bought for the lowest prices.

I think Brad qualifies for the #1 spot

    67

I bought my 67 in Dec. 2000 for $2,000. It had 98,000 miles, was a 1 owner and was untouched from the day it rolled from the factory. Had every piece of paper it could possibly have including the invoice and original window sticker and the bill of sales, where the owner traded a 66 Chevelle for it. Would love to find another at that price. I did buy a 67 new in 67 for $3,000.

Thanks Doug for clearing that up. The car is going back together to be BEAT again, I know it should hve been restored to OE but I could not do that the next person that owns it can do that, I am collecting the parts to so that it can be done that way. I also have a 1965 GS that I got almost for free in 1994.
