Figure some of the guys that have had their cars for a while can post what by today's standards would be smoking deals.

    Ten more like it please............

At the age of 17 in 1982 I had a choice of gold on gold, bucket seat, automatic, '70 SS 396 or the diplomat blue on white, bench, automatic, GS 455 I still own. Both were bone stock typical used cars of the day. 100k miles on both. Same price for either one........$1000.00

The GS won out because it was something different and I found out after a test drive of both, the GS would easily blow the doors off that Chevelle.

    No regrets here.................

But I sure wish I would have had an extra grand at the time to pick up that Chevelle too........would have made a fun pair...................

I paid $500 for my 76 Century from the first owner at 80,000 miles with brand new brakes. She had all the maint. records and warranty info! I fell in love with it and I now have about $1500 into it so far mostly just to upgrade it. It has never broke down on me!!

In 1993, I paid $550. for my '67 Wildcat Custom convertible with power buckets, console, tach,ATC,wood wheel,tilt,stereo,3.23 posi, running and driving. That included the Starwars aircleaner that is on it. Bought a '53 Roadmaster Riviera hardtop ,running and driving from the same lady for $150. The '53 is at my friend's junkyard in Plant City now. Bought my '72 Stage1 project car from Kennygs72 for $1200. a few years ago. Figured the V code and the 3.42 posi in it was worth near that.I think I have 3 or 4 times that now in parts and etc , over the past couple of years. Still not done!

This thread will get real interseting if a lot of people respond. Just by looking at the responses so far, there has been some good buys on desirable cars in the not too distant past.

Here's mine in order of purchase.

    1983 - 69 Z-28 Camaro - $5,000
    1984- 72 Stage1 - $1,000
    1986 - GN $16,400- Bought new
    1995- 70 GS455 Convt - $5600
    1996 - 70 GSX - $15,750
    2004 - 70 Skylark Convt -$6500
    2006 - 67 Wildcat - $500

There's been a bunch of others along the way that I've sold to buy something else but I like what I have now.

I paid 3600.00 for my 1970 GSX S1 4Spd. It showed 39,000 miles that was 1980. When I first took it apart it had 4 broken pistons on the drivers side. Now it is going back together again. 1973 S1 Auto bought in 1987 for 500.00 very rough.
