The twin turbo project has begun, I had to salvage this car..

It's the same tune that made the 7.70 pass. Car hasn't moved since I drove it home..

    8 lbs of boost..

It's a stock 350 bottom end so yeah it's built for whatever. I have another one in my pocket..

The G-tech says it's just me.

Eventually I'm gonna see what it will take..

Maybe you could step it up to 12 psi and see how it works?:3gears:

    That's what I'm thinking..

What's the easiest, cheapest, simplest way to add a few pounds??? I have to have a stopping point.. It's litterally a bone stock setup..

To increase the boost with a turbo type set up, I think you need to install a stiffer spring in the blow off valve (s)

That is what I would think?

True, however it seems to be a happy setup... I am sure if you keep the tune in check it could handle a few more psi!:beer

He's close. You need stiffer springs for each wastegate. They're usually around $15 each on Ebay. Just look for 35-40mm wastegate springs. I had a tough time trying to find a 12psi one that cheap though. Seems to jump from 8 to 14.

You can also put a bleeder valve in between the turbos and wastegates. This "tricks" the wastegate into seeing less boost, therefore opening only under higher pressure. I'm told these aren't as precise and smooth as actual springs, but if you just want to add a little, and try it a bit at a time, it seems to be the easiest way, once installed.

Isn't there something you can do with the ports coming off the top of the wastegates?? If I use two bleeder valves, how would I ever know if they adjusted alike??

I'm using Turbonetic racegates and they have ports on either side of the diaphram. Boost pressure goes to one side to open the wastegate at whatever pressure the spring is (mine is a 4psi spring). Boost pressure is also plumbed through a regulator to the port on the other side of the diaphram. If the regulator is adjusted to 4 pounds, then it assists the spring so the boost would be 8 psi.

Turn the knob, increase the boost! :TU:

an easy cheap way to do this is with 2 vaccum Ts and a pair of mig welder tips. Get the smallest ones you can and get them in pairs. Then just put one on each turbo starting the smallest and go up from there. What your doing is creating a small "meter'd" leak. Start with like a .020 and go up from there.

First things first. Change your boost signal from the carb hat to the manifold. That alone will change how your 8 psi will feel. Next take the hose coming from your manifold and plug in an adjustable bleeder boost controller $15-$45.

then on the hose that exits the bleeder valve plug it into a T-fitting and off of each side of the 'T' output route it to each waste gate. Start off conservative. Make a pull, monitor boost, make adjustment then repeat. I will worn you however that when I switched from 7 to 12 psi in one jump the car starting going sideways at about 90mph. I had to back mine back down to 9 psi to keep the car on the track. also make sure you take the boost readings at the manifold as well.

James do you think it's wise to use the manifold as a boost reference for the gates when I have no blowoff valve or any way to relieve pressure at part throttle.. I'm currently pulling signal from the compressors..

I asked that question on another forum and this is what I got..

Ok Jay I saw the responses you were getting. Here's a few answers for yuo.

Blow off valve, you don't need it don't be too concerned. Your car is an automatic, they are not needed as much.

As for a boost controller setups there are tons of setups out there, I gave you a simple cheap setup that will give consistent settings to both turbos as opposed to a manual boost controller setup.

Ported compressor covers, don't worry about any of that info. Those are used on vehicles with turbos that are TOO big not an issue for you.

Yep, what he said. I know the manifold reference makes the turbos "hit" harder, but is not worth the spikes in the piping IMHO. Simple bleeders will give you some increase, but can be done in small incriments so you can adjust your tune, and driving as the boost increases. I made a really nice aluminum bleeder I have yet to plug in. My car recently shook the tires loose in 2nd gear at a 25mph roll. It BARELY showed anything for boost in the intake, maybe 1-2psi. I'm not ready for more just yet.

OK.. So lets leave what I have alone... With the ports on the top of the wastegates that I have vented to the atmosphere, how do I control boost from them?? Sorry, like I told my wife... Unless you really spell it out, I won't get it.. I don't need it to spool faster than "now"..

If I remember correctly you are getting boost signal from your turbo housing. This is an example of an internal wastegate, that is ok they work the same, just use the the same ports you are currently using for the yellow lines.

If you can afford to the electronic controllers are a much better way to go. Press a button and dial the amount of boost you want.
