The twin turbo project has begun, I had to salvage this car..

It's like it's my duty.. This is a relatively solid car. Core support under the battery is bad. Other side is perfect. Filler in the rear quarters. Floor and trunk are great. No dents, door dings, comes with all of the trim and a very nice set of bumpers and lenses that are not in the pics. Interior is bad. Needs carpet, front seat, and headliner. Dash pad is cracked.

The car has a 305 chevy and chevy 350 tranny that slid right out. The 305 is being scrapped. The tranny will be rebuilt with a new BOP case.

With the car comes the very solid 350 engine that was in my car when I bought it with freshly re-worked heads. I gave it away, and got it back.

I will be sourcing a ton of small parts to put this thing back together..

From the one pic, I'd say you're going to need at least one A-arm. When you can seen the bushing like that, it has beat/worn a keyhole in it. I have some pics of one of my arms like that. Looks like a decent start on a project though.

That's the least of what it needs. It needs about 3 thousand dollars worth of stuff..

Looks like a good starter! :TU: Will you be using one of Burton's turbo kits?

Show us the video when you throw the 305 off a cliff. :TU:

That's the plan... It won't take long. I'm a good finisher..

I got the car on Friday and have come a long way in only a few days..

Someone welded the 305 frame pads in a different location. Gotta find a lot of little stuff.

The 305 and the custom dual exhaust brought $29 at the scrapyard.

The tranny is at my friends place to be race built.. Both Bumpers are finished and stored..

    :blast: Onward.

Thought I would update this if anyone is interested. Engine is at the machine shop being bored 30 over with new Speed Pro pistons. Heads are being ported. Intereior has been gutted and all the floor holes repaired with fiberglass and re-sealed with roofing compound. Most of the interior is ready to re-install. Winshield replaced, rear window re-sealed. All four quarters have been repaired with fiberglass and look great. About 1/2 of the car has been sanded and primed. The rear bumper/ trunk area has been re-sealed. Trunk seal channel cleaned up and primed. All new brake parts installed. Under hood has been cleaned well and painted.

I'm still pretty much on target to get this up and running with new brakes, shocks, nearly everything under the hood new, tranny rebuilt with power in mind, 3.73 gears w/locker, new wheels and tires, and fresh paint for about 5K.

ONWARD, but never again will I touch a car this rough.

Great stuff! What cam are you running in that 350? Glad you are going 350, the 455 blocks need bandaids, girdles and prayers over 600 hp. I bet something like the Poston 114 would work well with the turbos since it has no overlap. :beer

I was planning on the 114 but with the Poston situation I am unsure now. What about the TA 212??

Lunati also has a few good cams in their voodoo line. You do seem to be rollin' along with this, can't wait to see it done and makin' passes. :TU:

The TA 212 cam is also a good option, a good turbo cam has no overlap and a relatively low rpm range which the 212 has. Another thing we are going to do with our turbo engines is retard the camshaft 4 degrees. Typically a NA engine would like the cam advanced 4 degrees advanced however under boost the situation changes and the engine will benefit from a retarded cam setting.

Contact Mark Burton and pick his mind about the cam selection, cam degree, ect.

That's what Mark siad. 114 with 4* retard. I guess I'll go with the 212. After all, we are only talking about some very subtle differences.

If you're turbocharging forget the TA 212 and the Poston 114. Read what Turbo 455 has been talking about:

    http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=168748

It is correct that you want no overlap at .050" but at the very least you need a single pattern cam. The 212 and 114 have too much exhaust duration compared to the intake. The 212 is 0 degrees of overlap at .050" but that doesn't meant it is 0 at less lift. The Comp Cams 260H has -8 degrees of overlap at .050" and the 268H has -2 if you want a stronger cam but they are single pattern with 212 degrees and 218 degrees at .050". If you need off the shelf try one of these or take a look at Isky maybe. They might not be the best for N/A Buicks but they mistakenly are better for turbo Buicks.

Those dual pattern cams are for normally aspirated cars. Even supercharged cars would use different cams. I've said this before and if you don't believe me look at the cams TA and anybody else sells for the Buick V6. That should give you some ideas. The 350 just has 2 extra cylinders and is a little bigger. Check around on the internet and you'll find plenty of info on turbo cars.

    I thought Buick only made a 455. Isn't the 350 really just a chevy motor:grin::bla:

    Jay,

Did you get a hold of crower? If you have problems getting a hold of crower let me know and I will call them for you. The valve trimming is really what you are looking for in the advance/retard of the cam. you want the exhaust to close before top dead center and the intake to open just past top dead center. I am looking forward to see what that little 350 will do with the twins. your success will decide the fate of the little 350 in my 69 flamed lark.

Holy crap.. Don't base anything on my success. I'm flying by the seat of my pants. I haven't called Crower yet, but I need to get moving on that. I need a cam that I can install straight up because that's all I know how to do. This car is in so many pieces and there are so many things left to do and fix that if I get this running by late summer that will be amazing. But, I make progress EVERY day. Every single day I do something..
