    Justa350 I'm BACK!

Nice to hear you'll be back at it soon. I think that must be the 2nd to last set of forgings though, I have the LAST set!

The runner taper on the intake is common though.

    Vroom Vroom.. It's back..

Pumped the gas three times, hit the starter, and it was running.. No issues.. Made a 50 mile round trip to a cruise in in 88* humid weather and all is well..

What's new.. Main studs. head studs. forged pistons. better rods. 3/8 fasteners for the rocker plates in place of 5/16. New springs and retainers..Poston intake that has been gasket matched. Better drain lines..Everything has been apart and inspected.. The tune remains the same..

Going to Columbus, but not expecting much in th heat..

Plenty of time to see it as slow as it was..

Jay, I missed your runs...what was it turning? I thought I saw a 13 in there somewhere when I was in the tower.

    13.1 @ 101

Whoo Hoo only 9 MPH faster than my 1/8th.. It was just flat for some reason..

The weather pretty much sucked as far as trying to make a good pass goes. You take that car to Cecil and you'll get your 12 second pass haha.

I don't think it was 12's he was planning on. With the times he posted before, a turbo car should hit 11's on a full pass. Conversion tables aren't very accurate when power adders are involved. Jay, I had the S-Divider too and thought it ran great. However, after the single plane swap it felt like it picked up 100hp, and might have.

Talk with Bill. If he is willing to share info, that is a big help! The temp difference would kill it quite a bit too. Did the AFR's change at all after the intake swap?

AFRs were low in the 11.2 range at WOT. Normally closer to 12.. But I can't say why the difference.. Heat, intake.. Who knows. I've never run the car when it was that hot because I hate hot weather..

It ran a full 9+ MPH off of my best 1/8.. It was sluggish to say the least, but it runs good, just off on power.. The only real difference is the intake that I can think of.

I havent taken the time to read the whole thread but I would have definately expected out of the box bolt on to get deep in the 11s poking 10s. What was the speed/ET prior to the hairdryers?

That's a pretty high expectation for a stock 350.. I suggest not getting married..

    9.0 at 76 in the 1/8th.. Figures out at low 14 1/4..

It's only 8 lbs of boost

Oh wow, that could be a big factor. The 11.2 AFR and heat could pull a lot of ET out. Mine runs hardest at about 12.5, even on boost. I know, I'm not supposed to do that but TFB. It's a $150 re-ring special.

I still think that the poston intake is hurting your car.

I think that running an exhaust temp gauge (EGT) on each side of the engine is a good idea to help dial in the tune. Air fuel ratio does not tell the whole story.

I am planning to so as far as to have an EGT on each header tube, to be sure all is well.

Jay I had the AFR sensor and Exhaust temp sensor on the right hand exhaust, the two pistons that burnt were on the left hand side. I can't help but wonder that I should have done both sides I may have caught the issue at the start. I also ran a 13 on the quarter but that was with 6 cylinders; the other two were melted away.

AHH ok my apologies I missed that minor detail haha...dont get me wrong I wasnt trying to downplay what your doing by any means...and being that I am over here trying to find the perfect time to go the FI route it caught my attention....however its a different motor :Dou:

I am sure that with everything sorted out and running well in cool air Jay has an 11 second car... All it takes is one thing out of whack to slow the car down. There are stock buick 350 cars in the 12s easily off a small shot of nitrous.
