    True story...

A couple years ago in the middle of winter with two feet of snow on the ground, I hear some idiot outside running a weed whacker. Curious, I go over to the window and look outside. It was some hero revving his Honda. :puzzled:  :bla:

What...... I can't hear you!!!!!!!!!!

On the 69 - Stock 350 manifolds into 2 1/2 duals with no crossover into glasspacks of some unknown brand ending at the bumper. (all on the car when I bought it)

Sounds OK at idle, but sound a little raspy above then, may have a leak or the glasspacks are shot, sound inside while driving is OK.

I like to hear the exhaust of a car when driven, best music in the world. :beer

My Turbo car needs a electric exhaust cutout so the exhaust can be heard above the turbo sounds. :idea2:

Maybe someday I'll get to hear my sweet 3" exhaust over all the top end noises.

Loud used to be fun, but now I want a car that has 500hp and is virtually silent. For the road car, that is. The race car can be loud, but hopefully not too loud as I've noticed over the years that the loudest cars tend not to be the fastest.

When I first purchased my 69 back in October it had glasspacks ... uugh.

That's a bad sounding (in my opinion) dual exhaust at idle. cruising, and fullthrottle. The first thing I did was exchange those for a set of Flowmaster 40's. Now it is crisp at idle and it sounds fantastic when you hammer it. That all stock 38 year old motor sounds sweeeet.

I have vortek mufflers on my Nail's dual exhaust. Sounds awsome. After puting Tom Telesco's roller rockers on, the sound got more lopey.

    listen for yourself :beers2: :3gears:

Mine is pretty docile until you get on it, then it suddenly becomes heard. I love that more than loud all the time.

What is that creaking noise? It sounds like a loose hubcap, but you have ralley wheels.

Does anyone else have sound clips of their car?

Deep, mellow, and almost quiet for me.........I like big cars that sort of "hum" when they idle......I run 4 flowmasters, 2 on each side........stays quiet until I nail it! :Brow: (no punn intended)

I like them when they have a low rumble at idle, roar when you mash on the pedal and cackle when you back off.

That's the way my Harley is. Rode her in to town Saturday and set off two car alrms as I was leaving the hardware store.:Brow:

If you want the best of both worlds (loud outside and quiet inside), you will need to DynaMat the entire floor and panels in the car.

I have a Torque Tech 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust with the long case SuperTurbo mufflers (p/n 17749) with stock manifolds. This system is LOUD, so much so that your ears would ring for an hour after you drove it.

I pulled the interior, and DynaMattted everything.

I have to say that the interior noise level is down at least 50%, and it makes the car really enjoyable to drive now. And, the DynaMat cuts the heat transfer way down as well.

So, get a loud system and use DynaMat...the best of both worlds.

Nothing sounds better that a super fast GS running the quarter mile through the mufflers. In my opinion, open exhaust only sounds "cool" on sub 9 second cars. Otherwise, it's just noise... like 15 second Chebbies running the quarter mile with loud exhaust while it looks like they are running in slow motion :)

Harleys are similar... embarrassingly turtle-slow Harleys make a lot of noise. It seems for Harleys, the slower they are, the louder they are!

X2 I like to hear it, but I don't want it to interfere with conversation inside the car. I've Corvette factory side exhaust that I loved, and Dynomax Super Turbos on a 455 I love.
But sorry to the Bikers, I wish they would require Harleys to have exhaust as quiet as they left the factory with,,,,,or have permenant open season on them, and ricers with straight pipes.

Have that system on the Stage 1 when it was a four speed car and there is nothing better and I mean nothing better than hearing that thing scavenge during shifts.

I would drive for hours staying in traffic in Miami/Ft Lauderdale just so I could keep shifting and listen to that music.

I just replaced my single exhaust, with; single exhaust. Dual exhaust on mine would require moving; the master cylinder. Or, running the exhaust under the frame.
I like, a low rumble; at idle. My Olds 455, had duals with; a low rumble.
    I like, the Roadmaster; quiet.
