I for one love loud sounding cars w/ dual exhaust, you can hear a vehicle w/ an loud exhaust system comin from blocks away, and most of them sound pretty good. Quiet cars are good for long distant trips/vacations, but for around town and for shorter distances, give me a good sounding car w/ duals. :bglasses:

    Well, ...

... I've got dual Flowmasters on my Skylark, and a dual Raven exhaust on my truck, and I really like that, Harley's sound nice - loud's kinda OK. But I'd like to also go on record and state that it must be tasteful. I don't care much for the sound of a car grunting and farting and dragging its exhaust on the ground, and

I REALLY HATE THOSE HIGH REVVING KWAKS AND SUZIES, AND THE SOUND OF MEGA-WATT STEREOS AND SUB-WOOFERS, BLARING RAP MUSIC FROM RICERS, STOPPED AT RED LIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks for listening, I feel better now.

When I originally purchased my 71 Skylark it had an old rusty stock dual exhaust. Then I changed the system to 2 1/2 inch flowmasters using the 40 series mufflers (on stock 350 motor and manifolds) - now the car sounds awesome - a great improvement.

There's nothing like going WOT and hearing it bounce off of houses 1/2 a mile away!

There's nothing that goes along better with a sound of duals than a fully open Q-Jet, gotta love them both

Maybe I'm a dork but... what about good soudning and Quiet? Like Duals with Dynomax Super Turbo's?

And what about bad sounding loud, like the open header 4 cylinder that runs up and down your street after the engine swap? (doesn't that happen to you?)

Ok, Just being Devil's Advocate... I like 'em loud until I pull in and my neighbors kids are asleep.

Nothing gets me cranked up more than cruising with the top down listening to that big block purr! I like the medium loud dual exhaust that is fairly normal - until you step on it!

Buick engines have a unique tone.
Share it with the world! :Brow:

Needs to be just right though, I hate an exhuast that reverbs through the whole car at 30 MPH. :af:

Mine used to be whisper quiet at idle and then loud at speed

Now with the new cam, it's loud period and my neighbors sure ain't gonna like that at 6 am. Usually I say screw 'em, it's legal so deal but it's hard to make points with the girls up the street when you interrupt their sleep with some old car every weekday. Plus some folks have babies here too. I suspect I won't be a hero

I like the gutsy sound of the 60 s muscle cars but cant seem to find that in a muffler any more. SO I make my own mufflers and put on big pipes while I am at it. I get a low growl that doesnt change over time and is low restriction. It takes a 500lb gorilla to pick up one of my mufflers, but they last a lifetime and only cost me about $20.

I must be getting old...but I'm trying for an exhaust that's dead quiet at idle, but has little or no restriction. Read David Vizard's article on exhaust, it's interesting.

The best sound comes out the carb at WOT.

The exhaust doesn't sound anywhere near as good as the carb sound!

Now that's some fun there, I have a friend that has a '72 chevelle SS 454 w/ headers/flowmaster 40 series muffs and we love to cruise the main st. sometiems later at night when its quiet-er and we get a kick out of bouncing the soundwaves off the houses going down the street.
