People blaming the media for this or that are merely parroting a cliche that doesn't get to the heart of the matter.

And, as a result, there's no justice for anyone.

Can't wait for the next court case to distract America and keep us divided. Because, by golly, we're all lawyers and we know how law is supposed to work even though we're not in the jury.

Gosh, maybe they misreported the verdict too.

Right now, here in my city. Blacks are acting out on people(if they are white) because of this verdict. Is That not a HATE crime? Or just a difference of opinion? And if the victim were a white male, would this story have gotten any press at all? In my opinion this is just a matter of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, for both guys!

Ultimately, all the media spin, misinformation and the presidents meddling did zero to sway the jurors. They thankfully based it solely on the evidence and testimony presented.

What media spin do you speak of?

    And what misinformation?

What did the President say that is considered meddling in the case?

Sorry, but all of these came from the people discussing it on the Internet. It's gossip outside Hollywood and DC.

Diego, for a smart guy you sure like to play dumb. Do you really need for me to post all the links?

The presidents meddling- saying that if he had a son he would look like Treyvon. Inappropriate at best. Stirring the racial pot at worst. I can post the Youtube video of him saying it if you don't believe it.

The Justice dept spending our money to organize anti Zimmerman rallys-

The media for injecting race into it when it wasn't a racial issue. Using pictures of the kid when he was 12 in a football uniform and using a picture of Zimmerman in an orange jumpsuit.

You're missing the point - what's wrong with what he said?

There's nothing wrong. Just a bunch of pundits blabbing about their favorite Socialist President.

Meanwhile, out in the real world, a kid is dead because someone had an itchy trigger finger. From my POV the discussion is somewhat shallow because it's just another political discussion to sidetrack us from other things - if one person has empathy for gun violence, he'll choose one side; if another has empathy for standing up to violence, he'll choose another. The real message - justice - gets lost in the shuffle, and then we carry on until the next Casey Anthony appears.

  9. and BINGO, we know where you stand and what your perception of what happened. that "itchy trigger finger" may have prevented him from being killed when he was getting his head slammed into the sidewalk

i'm truly amazed this thread hasn't been locked down yet. it has given me a whole new outlook on some of the people on this board.

I don't stand anywhere, but I fantasize what happened:

Rogue 'hood watch dude confronts innocent kid, who is intimidated and fights back. Zimmy is getting pummeled and pulls out his gun to defend himself, and is within his right to do so but at what cost?

That may have happened, or it may look like something else - I dunno, as I wasn't there. But I'm not going to call the kid a thug or claim that him smoking weed made him a bad person, which is pretty ridiculous. I think the prosecution's lawyers approached this all wrong, and Trayvon's parents got taken for a ride.

To those that say Zimmerman followed him when told to back off? What's illegal about following him if he in on the neighborhood watch. I have gone outside my neighborhood (armed legally) when I see activity that doesn't look right. Anything from people running through yards to people standing on the street corners at 1am. I have the same right and I want them to know I am here and I see you. I also bring my 90 lb Pit Bull just in case I need a little time to pull my gun if something goes down. If you don't stand up for yourself you will get rundown.

I will not end up like the EMT outside Dodger stadium almost brain dead from a beating.

It's not illegal to walk on the street either.

So, imagine my scenario is true: Zimmerman needlessly engaged Trayvon and then found himself on the receiving end. A kid was killed because he handled the situation poorly.

And if it was another scenario? We're just not going to know either way.

So to the bleeding hearts they would have an innocent man GZ in jail or worse executed because he xared about his neighbourhood? If you think GZ went out that night to kill a black kid then he would be guilty but who with a rational mind thinks that. This guy had black friends. this guy was just doing what millions of others should be doing and getting involved instead of drawing curtains. I have a son not much older than TM and feel the pain. Unfortunately a young man is dead due to a bad situation but in my world i don't convict based on that.

Diego- Just to get a sense of where you stand- Do you remember the infamous incident where Henry Louis Gates was arrested? What do you think of the president's statement after the arrest where he said the Caimbridge police acted stupidly? Was that appropriate in your view?

Both parties are guilty of poor judgement. George should of stayed in his truck and Treyvon should of just gone home.

The prosecution lawyers approached it wrong because there wasn't a right way to approach it. They had no grounds and there shouldn't have been a trial period. That is why the police didn't arrest Zimmerman until they were pressured.
