Like these!! From Gary's stage 2 engine. My intake rockers are just off set and larger then the ones in this picture!! :blast:

Is there a differece in length from puushrod to roller tip as compared to the ta/t-d versions

Yes... The main advantage is that you can now use a large valve spring and not have it contact the rocker!! The TA performance set up is fine till you go to roller cam springs that are 1.50 inch diameter!! Then you have a contact problem with the spring and retainers..:spank:

Right Rob. And then you have to grind the hell out of the rocker, like mine are clearenced to fit over the 1.550 KMotion springs that I run. Then you run the risk of breaking a rocker because they've got so much material taken out of them. My next set of heads (yeah, that'll happen soon...not) will have the Jesel rockers and will also have the pushrod holes moved over to enable more port work, like yours.

Those Stage 2 heads on your car do need to be replaced with modern technology. When those rockers break the lifter flys out of its bore creating a major problem!! NO OIL PRESSURE!! How long ago were your heads ported? Did anyone even use flow benches back then?:Dou:

HaHa. Very funny. Took you all this time to catch up to that ancient technology though, didn't it?! :bla:

HaHA guess that means I am going to Gessler for heads after Cecil:3gears: :3gears: Any good deals MR G? Can you flow my current steel heads to see what they do? Modern tech humm how bout a block!! Bet TA comes out with a for sale to the public block before those rare Bulldogies. PS I will take all the Bulldog blocks and find a machinist if that is really the problem:dollar: :dollar:

gotta go 8.99 before the back half.1st stage 1 in the 8's and a full standard frame to boot.but watch out i heard john m's been talkin smack about going 8's on irons

The only way John M is going 8s with his beat up stage 1 irons is with a huge dose of nitros!!!! Or maybe he will put his steel heads in the trunk of Doug's car!!!:bla:

And Doug, I was kicking your Stage 2 Aluminum heads around for years, with my old Stage 1 Iron heads!!!:Dou: The low lift numbers were much better then your aluminum stage 2 heads you still have on your car!! :bla: It was not until .600 lift that your heads started to flow better then my Gessler STEEL stage 1 Heads!!!! Go ask Greg for the flow sheets....:TU:

And just exactly why do you need good low lift flow numbers in a race car?? Unless you're foot braking the car and leaving at 3000 rpm where you're using a long rpm range, you don't spend any time at the low end. You planning on cruising into the local burger joint with your car tonight? Or are you just gonna pound it at high rpms at Cecil next week? That's what I thought! :spank: Talk to ya later tough guy! :bla:

maybe because the engine spends MUCHO more time at low lift than it does at higher lift ... not to mention the velocity quotient, unless your cam lobe is narrower at the bottom than it is at the top... :Do No:

  13. Rob C

    Rob C Rob Chilenski

Exactly !!!!!:beer The amout of time your valves are open past .600 lift is less then it is for .200 lift!! Got that Dougey!! You want flow at low lift and good velocity !! With any engine, the head that has good low lift flow, without loosing high lift flow, will make more HP !!:idea2:

Yup, everytime a valve opens the low lift number become a factor. The best heads have good numbers at high lift without trashing the low numbers.

My Stage 2 heads don't have real good high lift numbers (only 310 at .600) but they are 140 at .200. Not too bad I guess. I shouldn't have told the porter I drove it on the street.....
For a heavy (3700) car maybe it works better.....keeps the velocity up.

When I re-do them maybe I'll try to coax more out of em......

Well, I'm glad you guys put so much emphasis on velocity, because Scotty always said that's why my heads work so well. They max out at 338 cfm, but they've got a TON of velocity!! He also said my heads aren't the prettiest heads you've ever seen....but they WORK!! Especially since they're older than most high school kids!

    Rob,

Do you still have your old iron heads? I would like to buy that "ancient" technology if you still have them. Not some junkers mind you, I would want the EXACT heads that came off your car before you went to pop can heads.

    The :dollar: is waiting.

    Rob C Rob Chilenski

Now Jim you should know I would not sell them !!:dollar: I have to keep them ready to go !! You never know when some kid might try to take my 9.43 steel head record!!!:Smarty: Actually, I just had Greg freshin them and I am putting them on my 72 stage 1. The one I have had since 1984!! I think a low 11 sec street car that runs on pump gas is cool!!:beer

That car doesnt need them. But I know one that does. I would even take an oath not to tell Hecker, Martinez, Massoud or any of the others what kind of tricks you did to them. Dont waste em on a street car.

You know I would lend them to you Jim!! No charge for that special race!! But Greg has done some that are even better then the ones I have!!:blast: You should give him a call and ask him.:beer
