OK, there is a Stage1 motor out there which has shot out into the rarefied air where no Stage1 has gone before. I got a phone call earlier this evening, telling me that this motor was at the dyno shop and that the owner was on a mission to out-do me and my Stage2! My motor made 841 HP a couple of months ago. Well, this Stage1 of his made 844 HP!! Even though I have no offcial stats to back up the claim I made in the title of this thread, this has GOT to be a record for a Stage1!! Care to guess who it is?

Yes my good friend Doug, it was me!! My lil 485 Buick Stage 1 engine made a corrected 844.1 HP @ 6600 RPM on Bill Ceralli's Superflow dyno last night!!!!:TU:
The Torque peak was 726.4 @ 4900 RPM!!! All I can say is thak you Gessler Headporting !! I also want to thank Lou From LRB performance for his always perfect machine work!! This is the same dyno that Doug's engine made 841 HP only 2 months ago! And his engine is 40 cubic inches bigger!! .:Do No: But you don't have Gessler Heads yet!!! :Do No: What a great day it was at Bill Ceralli's shop and many engine builders and headporters there were very impressed by my lil Buick!!!! Not to many Chevy engines make that much power and hold it thoughout a large RPM!! It made 812.3 hp @ 6000 RPM and was still making 816.2 @ 7200 RPM when we stopped the test!!!!!! Thank you Buick and TA Performance!!!!!!

Anybody wanna buy a set of "slightly used" early vintage Stage2 heads? They're a little outdated, and they've got a few battle scars, but they work very well! I need to step it up and get a set of new Stage2 TE heads. I'm getting outdone by a set of Stage1 TE's and I don't like it. My heads flow around 340 CFM....Rob's flow around 370!! The last time Greg had to fix a little minor damage on my heads, he said "You really should buy some new heads! I think you got your money's worth out of these!" Congrats Rob! But don't think I'm not comin' after ya! :TU:

You know what Doug, so Rob makes 844:bla: to my 780. I'll just chuck a door at him while racing down the track:moonu: Just ask Randy about flying doors at the 1/8th mile mark:laugh:

    Congrats Rob!:beer

Just to repeat what I said to Doug in email. The size of the Stage 1 exhaust port is not a hinderance on horsepower compared to Stage 2. Its the Intake flow that matters most! As long as you can get 75% of that air out your exhaust side it will be fine. Also the stage 1 exhaust makes more torque for a heavy car!! And most agree Buicks are heavy !!:Smarty: The large Stage 2 exhaust port really is not needed!! Stage 1 TE heads have the same intake ports as all Stage 2 TE Heads!!!!:beer

Well, that's like comparing apples to oranges. Rob's car is a full frame car, just notched and mini-tubbed for 30x13 slicks. OEM floor etc. My car is a 2x3 tube chassis, chrome-moly cage, four-link, narrowed ford 9-inch, aluminum interior, etc. A relatively light car at 2900 with me in it, for a Buick. Rob's got a 250 lb handicap to start with (3150 if I recall), and traction issues if the track's not just right. My car hooks on marbles! There's no purpose to match race an 8.74 car against a 9.13 car, but if you dropped Rob's motor into my car, we'd set a GS Stage1 ET record that NOBODY would break anytime soon! Better yet, drop it into Mike Modena's GS, now THAT'S a lightweight!

We could put it your ride Doug!! Only problem is making a new set of headers!! Last time i did that it was alot of work!!!:idea2: But it would be fun to put a number on the board that many Stage 2 guys will never touch!!!:Do No: Again another reason Stage 1 heads don't have the same records Stage 2 heads have is nobody ever tried to make them work in all out racecar!!!:idea2: Thanks to TA Performance making Aluminum Stage 1 Heads with the same Tall Port intake port, we can see there is not much difference in power with the large exhaust port!! Think about it?
Also Doug,my car is 3250 with me in it!! So thats 350 pounds!! And your car still ETS better because of its racecar frame ,suspension, and chromemoly cage!! Not to mention its amazing aerodynamics!!! I am in for all the grudge runs thou. We will just have to dial the cars in!!!!!!!!!
