Thanks Guys!! The engine is 485 cubic inches !! It has a 4.385 bore !! Lets see, there are 2 sleeves in the left side of the block !! I have it filed to the top of the deck with non shrinking grout. This engine was sleeved last year and it failed after 20 runs. It broke #5 cylinder wall with a 1 inch hole the length of the cylinder!!:Dou: This time LRB performance installed a thick wall sleeve in that cylinder. When I saw the large hole in the wall it was obvious that the grout did not make it around that cylinder!! Causing it to crack both times!! So before we pressed in the new sleeve, I drilled a fill hole in the lifter valley of the block. This allowed me to fill that cylinder after the sleeve was pressed in!! Since the block was .060 over and I needed to buy new pistons, as 2 were shot, I went to .075 over to hone all the other cylinders perfectly!! So this Buick block is bored way past the recomended size!!:eek2: The up stroke on the stock crank is 4.02 making the total cubic inch 485!!:TU: I am using GRP alluminum rods and Diamond pistons with a Dykes style top ring. If you go to my website the entire Dyno sheet is posted there!!:TU:

P.S. Carl wins a pass down the track!! But he has to race John Massauds car in the other lane!!!!:blast:

Rob, congrats! Those are some Awesome Numbers!!!!

I'm looking forward to working with Greg again on our current project. I was happy to hear your compliments regarding Gregs Port Work.

Speaking of Stage 1 Motors, what kind of HP numbers have you guys seen with "Stock Appearing" Stage 1 Motors? (running manifolds)

Rob, Those are some awsome numbers.:beer
You mentioned that the exhaust flow numbers arent as important on a stage 1 heads. but you never mentioned your exhaust flow numbers? Also how much of a role did the porting on your intake manifold play in achieveing those amazing numbers:eek2: One more question do my eyes decieve me or is that a stock type big hei distributor on that 844 hp motor.

Hey Doug, this is dyno racing at its best:laugh: No slicks, expensive car hauler, no blowing up the trans or diff, hitting the wall and you can have a couple brews well working the dyno:beers2: Chris

I am using a 1075 Holley Dominator. With the power this motor made It would probally like the 1175!!:Do No: But Doug's 1175 Holley carb was not there for the test, or I would have tried it!!:3gears:
As for Exhaust flow numbers I said it was important to reach 75% of the intake flow numbers!!! It is important to have good exhaust flow numbers no matter what head Stage 1 or 2 !!!!!!!!!!
As for intake porting, I need to do more!! The guys at Ceralli 's shop said there was 20 more hp in there. I have to work the runners and blend in the carb mounting pad!!! They get $2500 to fix it!!! I will do it myself over the winter!!
I am using MSD crank trigger and electronics. The stock HEI is just a pointer to send the spark to the plugs. It is completely gutted and welded inside!!!
P.S. You will have to ask Greg from Gessler Headporting for flow numbers of the Stage 1 TE heads on my motor!!! I am sworn to keep certain things Quiet!!!!

Rob meant to say he runs a 1050 and mine is an 1150. I run the same HEI setup as him, with the MSD ignition and crank trigger.

Thanks for explaining that Doug. If and when we are at the track, maybe I can try your carb for a pass to see if it helps?

If you're running your car on Saturday, you can use it then. I told you I'll be chained to the table collecting dues all day, so as long as you give it back by late afternoon so I can make a pass or two with my "Ultra High Performance Stage1 Auto Racing Exhaust System" on the car, ok?

Thanks Pal, But i don't think Saturday would be a good day to test anything!! The track sucks with all the street cars dripping water on it, and i have to run mufflers!!!:Smarty: But maybe at Cecil we can do it ? If you have the time then.

I'd just like to know one thing. What TQs are you guys using? I've tried two rather expensive ones and I've been told I'm blowing through the TQs cause I'm running out of RPM. I'm using a 3:73 12 bolt, crank trigger, 1100 dom. Engine makes over 700 HP, Car weights around 3300 and just past the 8th mile I'm at 6 plus K on the RPM. I ran a 101 8th and then 111 in the quarter, so you can see it's an RPM issue, I can hear the riv limiter doing it's thing. I raised the limit from 62 to 6700 once and it still reached that limit, thats where the miles per hour were almost the same at 8th and quarter. Help please. I won't twist this motor more than 62 from now on. But do require some help. I can finish all the info as necessary for the help required. Thanks in advance. I've posted this here cause I see all the "big'ns" excuse the expression. LOL
