Gee, all I have to report is blizzard conditions with little new snow. Probably little opportunity for any snovertime. Was supposed to head south today, but chose to stay home instead. :TU: https://weather.com/forecast/regional/news/wind-snow-blizzard-plains-upper-midwest-february-2016
Yea-- I think JW said he was desperate for some snow because he bought a new snow blower that needed to be broken in. This blizzard appears to be right over his house. Most of us will be watching the Super Bowl but, no, JW wants to test the "blizzard proof" provision on his new blower warranty.
All I know right now is it's COLD and to get colder this weekend. My ragtop is crying for spring ray:
Do you mean Miss August?? Sure would like to see some girls in bikinis about now!!:Brow: But I digress... The Feb 15-17 storm is becoming less snow/ice and more rain. Maybe that's a good thing. I don't think there is anything good about an ice storm. But I've had some fun times riding on ice with my Banshee quad!
no no no... your a week off... the week before the Superbowl we got about a foot in MPLS, and I had to get that new blower to clear the sidewalks off on the two houses my Mom owns in MPLS... That baby is tested and approved, and set for the next snowfall.. When your from MN, you buy replacement snow removal equipment after it snows, seen way too many forecasts that were not close to accurate over the years.. and we don't panic about snow... a foot.. ya, so what? I was on the couch watching the Panthers get the snot beat out of them last Sunday.. wishing I would have bet the game.. It had a very Viking-Esq feel in relation to the Panthers.. so I felt there was a good chance of a Denver win.. Seen the Vikings lose in 4 super bowls, so I can relate to what the pre-game hype often feels like, for a team that is going to get pounded. JW
Wxrisk.com 11 hrs . EVENING UPDATE ABOUT FEB 15-16 THURSDAY AFTERNOON & EVENING MODELS SHOW LESS SNOW --LESS ICE --EVEN OVER WESTERN / SW VA CENTRAL MD into eastern PA When I made my post early THURS AM about the potential for significant snow and ice over the western portions of VA most of WVA far sw VA Western MD and the interior portions of central and eastern PA ... I stated clearly that the key to the snow and ice in this situation for February 15-16 is the early arrival of the precipitation when the atmosphere is still cold. KEY IDEA if...if... the precipitation does not begin until Monday evening February 15... strong southerly winds will have allowed the lower levels to warm up significantly and the threat of any sort of ice and/or snow over the interior portions of the Middle Atlantic would be greatly reduced. On the other hand the EARLY arrival of precipitation on Monday monring increases the threat of seeing significant snow and ice over the interior portions of the Middle Atlantic region because the atmosphere is colder. The Thursday afternoon or early evening models are warmer. They are warmer because the main precipitation event is now delayed until the early morning hours on Tuesday. And as I stated above the delay and precipitation means less snow and less ice and warmer temperatures. The Thursday afternoon European model ... the 12z GFS 18z GFS .. the euro ensemble etc all have the southern low developing layer and they all take a more inland track. The track of the developed surface LOW over western NC ... that tracks into VA and eastern PA... develops strong southerly winds which drives the mild air from the Carolinas all the way into southern and central New England and NY State. By Monday morning at 9:00 AM the Thursday afternoon European model has the rain snow line well to NORTH of Boston... NYC .. . close to Buffalo and as far west as the PA OH border! This may be somewhat overdone and I am not going to call off the threat for r snow or ice on FEB 15-16 t at this time... But if this trend continues on Friday or Saturday there will be changes
