That's exactly why I taped that trim off before sanding near it on the windshield post!

    :Smarty:

Looks like a footprint on your dashpad. :puzzled:

There's good news, great news and bad news!

The good news is that most of the car is finally painted. The hood, fenders, doors and trunk are all completely finished and painted and waiting to go back on. The front frame rails and front suspension were powerwashed and sandblasted. The body itself is coming along nicely. The painted panels looked awesome. I really could'nt believe my eyes. Its been so long that I actually have forgotten what this car looks like with nice paint on it. I think the last time was like 1978!!

The great news is that the dashboard area that was rotted has been repaired. I was a little worried as it was a really big scary hole! They fabbed up a repair panel from sheet metal and welded it all up. There was a final skim coat of some black shiny stuff. Looked like some sort of filler:confused: He said that the car should be completed in about two weeks.

And the bad news......I didnt bring my camera!! :Dou: :Dou: :Dou:

Im starting to get excited, nervous, happy and scared all at the same time

Ok, I finally had the camera with me, but most of the car was masked off. It looked like a mummy! I know, the pictures suck. The guys at the shop are really doing a great job.

Some updates- The body is in in final coat of primer. All the jambs were just sprayed. The front suspension and frame rails were given a coat of semi gloss black. The hood hinges were blasted and painted. The left fender is getting some love this week as well.

Nick, the owner tells me that the body may go into the booth as early as this weekend :eek2: All the other panel are painted and in storage waiting for re assembly. I dropped off the new urethane core support mounts to them.

Here are a few pics I took today. Remember the rotted cowl?

Stopped by today on my way home. Looks like they're doing the final block sanding. Everything looks pin straight. The car is all cleaned up and vacuumed out. Dash is in primer and the car is seam sealed. The whole bottom of that drivers windshield post is hand fabricated. There was nothing left of it. A very common rust out area on these cars.

I think we're coming into the home stretch here fellas! I really need to get my ass in gear and start getting all the little parts painted and polished up for re assembly.

Here are a few of my normally crappy pictures-

You know the deal, when the collison (money) work comes in, my car get pushed off to the side. Its just the way it is.

Im just praying for nice weather. One good rainstorm and the wrecked cars will be lined up again!

Im still amazed at that left side 1/4. There was 3/16" of bondo that was needlessly applied all those years ago.

I must say I was very happy to see the car all cleaned out and at this stage of completion. In the beginning I was literally a wreck. I couldnt even sleep knowing my car wasnt under my watch anymore. Im still dealing with the separation anxiety, but its alot better now. I know, I get so nutty. Poor Jennifer, she puts up with so much!

Well, mine is put away for winter. I at least got it primered.
Not happy with the hood. Very wavy. I knew should have taken it down to bare metal to begin with. Now I have no choice. Finding a better hood sounds more appealing.

Jason are you planning on re-using those interior pieces (dash bezels, steering wheel, seats), or are you going to replace them - I noticed they were not masked or covered and that grey primer is everywhere ? :Do No:
So far, so good - moving right along ! Brings back some fond memories (. . . never again) ! :beer :TU:

No, its just very fine primer dust (I checked). The seat had been covered up until recently. The seat needs to go the uphostery shop anyway as the bottom cusion is split and the piping is worn on the seat back. The rest of the interior is upstairs in my bedroom

Jason, whatever happened with the triple stripe tire you were asking about? I found mine. A hardly used original spare out of a '66 Riviera. The center stripe is wider than the outer stripes. Mounted on a chrome rally. I also found the original spare from a '69 GS Riv that has a very thin whitewall. I believe both tires are Firestones.

Thats the triple white I need the measurements off of. If you could measure from the edge of the rim to the first stripe and the measurements of the width of each one that would be awesome. I want to see what Diamondback gets for a set. e

I have a set of 5 NOS H70-15 Firestone Wide Oval Super Sports in a white pinstripe that I was planning on using, but Im I like the ride of radials. The H70's are a size that no one repros and were the optional size for the Riv GS. Im probably going to sell these.

    Its finished!!!

I just got the call this morning. Which only means one thing- he has the bill made too. Im happy, excited, scared and sick to my stomach all at the same time. Still dont have a clue what he's charging me :Dou:

I did get a little sneak peak the other day. Looks awesome. I think it really came out nice. I will post some pics later on today. I think im going to go puke now.

Hopefully he can hang onto it till Monday morning. I need to clean the garage out and put the 70 GS into storage.
