We are in California and have "stay at home" orders...really just guide lines. A guy got arrested for paddle boarding at Malibu beach by himself but home depot is open, Costco ect. My Industry is exempt from the order, (new home construction) so were still working. However my trade is between phases and we are just bidding new projects right now. I tried working from home but as you can see i'm easily distracted. our 4 kids are grown and on their own and our neighbors don't have kids. we've been partying with them for a year or so now and we still keep up with that. We are like kids again, were up until 1 or 2 in the morning and waking up at 8 ish. have to think of what day it is. I also live on a private golf course so I built a gate to access. I live on the 14th green and 15th tee box. I also live in a cul de sac and 3 of my neighbors who work from home and I have been playing the back 9 most days. We're in pretty good shape with food and supplies. IDK if you're gun guys but I have been in my gun safe and have upgraded my LE6920 and purchased a HK usp9c. I have an old 870 that I may convert to a short barrel tactical. I'm loving that stuff and I am looking at reloading ammo. Dillion xl750 :0, but the wife put the brakes on that investment lol. We're just trying to stay busy I'd guess. I kinda like it like this, you know, light traffic not many planes in the air, pollution to it's lowest levels. did you see how clear the water in Venice has gotten without the boats ? However I really feel for the people that were caught off guard with this and are struggling. I hope this is all over by May 1st. that's when Vegas is set to reopen and I would expect many other business's to follow. until then...ride it out.
First mowing of the year. It is fun for me ......and if it isn't fun for you, add beer. I put them on my porch and take a drink every northbound pass. Going to wrench on the '60 for a bit, then go for its first real distance road trip later after a nap with the dog.
What I'm not having fun with.... we lost a number of large branches last night. We had a green yard yesterday. Today! This
Not fun. We are suppose to get up to 10"s Sunday night. I will be splitting oak wood all day tomorrow.
Detailed the taillights and installed my new lenses. Took the car on its first real road test. Didn't miss a beat and got 13.4 mpg with mixed driving. Great day again.
Dam! Looks like a lot of people had a real good Saturday, even though it is Friday! I gotta take notes. So many people have great stories!!! Steve E., (71GS455)... I love your 62!!! When I was a kid my best buddies' mom had a 62. Every time she went to the store she'd ask, "Who wants to go for a ride?" My brother and I would ALWAYS take a drive with Mrs. Motta. I think it had the 215, or something like that. She floored that car every where she went!!! What a blast! Thanks for sharing!!! John Everette... When you get the "campground" going I'm coming to visit!!! Lucas... What a beautiful BEAST!!! I enjoy the pictures of you driving that awesome car!
I had a GREAT day!!! I can't write about it right now because my fingers are slurring. We had a birthday party for my oldest, Alex today. What a great time. I'll be back tomorrow morning. Have fun and stay 6 mm apart!!!!
Good morning all, Yesterday was a great day! It wore me out!!! Started out the day getting the place cleaned up for my son's birthday party. I got up at 4:55. No lie! I started edging the sidewalks the second the sun came up. Sorry neighbors. Then I mowed the grass, front and back. Then I started cleaning up my sandrail mess. It was everywhere! I'm a spread out, messy kinda guy. It was sweaty hot here. I popped a top at 9:35. Then Alex came over. He was on a crazy mission, as always. He was selling front and rear 1/2 ton Chevy differentials to some guy with a tire buggy. We we're meeting him almost halfway. On the drive to meet this guy GSFred called. I had invited him to Alex's party. While we were driving along talking to Fred we spotted a traffic sign that had been knocked to the ground. On the way home we stopped to get it. As I pulled up to the sign I uttered words that I've uttered before. "Dam that sign is big!" "Why do they look so small when you pass by them at 70 MPH???" I got out to put it in the back of the truck. I could barely lift it, and it didn't fit. Oh well...
The sign will get planted in the backyard just as soon as I scrape the FDOT sticker off the back of it. > Then we drank some more beer in front of the garage. My cousin came by for a visit. More beer and BS. While we were talking my cousin was amazed at the hot chicks that came walking by. One of them, this very hot blonde, walked by and gave a wave right to me. I'm in love!!! My cousin said, she didn't even look at Alex or me. Just you! I said, "I know. That's my new girlfriend." Yes, I will get her picture!!! The first time I saw her was last Monday. I was pressure washing the sandrail in the driveway. She was walking her 5 year old son past the house. He LOVED the sandrail!!! I LOVED his mom!!! Late afternoon came and the birthday party began. We had 22 family, and extended family over. No way could we stay 6 feet apart. We ate shrimp jambalaya, sausage jambalaya, hot and very spicy Louisiana crawfish. We pigged out!!! Then my wife's home made ice cream cake. What a GREAT day and night!!!
We LOVE the "bugs" down here John!!! They stopped selling them for awhile. Store manager said it was "demographics." I guess Hispanic people don't like them? Then they imported them from Spain. Go figure??? They had no taste and were mushy. Yuck! Yesterday I found some at Walmart that came from good 'ole Louisiana. Yay!!! They were delicious!!! As they say, "Suck the head and eat the tail!"
Looks like many of You are finding interesting and creative ways to stay busy and out of jail. Weather, here in Michigan has been on a roller coaster. Temps change from above average to below often. Rain off and on. Getting a few projects done, but several that I'd like to do, but can't because the stores selling the items I need to complete them are closed or can't sell them. Thanks to our "lockdown". Mowed the lawn for the first time last Tuesday. Washed and greased the mower. Worked on landscaping. I got our '65 Skylark convertible out and, after airing the tires and checking all fluids, I took it for a short drive. I did the same with my wife's '68 Nova SS. Cleaned them both inside and out. I need to pull the Nova's manual steering box for a rebuild. After we 'adjusted' it as far as we could, still too much play in the steering. Today (Saturday) is supposed to be the 'warmest/driest' day for awhile, so we are going to move some hostas plants that she has determined to need moving. My friend Eric and I have been walking a lot to try to lose a few tons. Lots of people out as well. Most everyone is pretty friendly and have a sense of humor about 'social distancing' while maintaining it. Our church is online now. We miss seeing everyone, but nice to still listen to pastor and music. Aside from walks, I only go out for necessities and take-out from friend's and other local family-owned shops. Still making most meals at home though. Everyone have a Wonderful Easter. Take Car & God Bless .
Here in sunny SW Florida it has been hot. most days 15 or so degrees above "average" (but we all know that global warming is a hoax). I have been doing the dirty work about cleaning up after Ira in 2017. I have long ago cleaned up the small blowdown, but the bigger stuff is still there. I got rid of two fallen trees today. I cut them up into small pieces that I can move, then transport them to a low spot on our property where they can degrade into really fertile soil. Some folks would not consider this to be fun, but I enjoy working on our nearly 11 acre plot/land/farm/heaven here in a place where it never snows and there is no salt on the roads. We may not be able to travel, but life is good, and shrimp is on the menu for dinner tonight. Perhaps I will enjoy a Guinness with them.
