As the title implies, I only want to hear good stuff. I DO NOT want any pessimistic stuff, nor do I want what my mom would say. First, let me tell you all a little bit about myself. I don't know why, but 99% of my friends are named John. A popular name in the late 50's and early 60's? I have FUN every day!!! Today was no different. I drove my 68 GS400 convertible around the neighborhood and did burnouts. It was sooo much fun!!! I finished waxing my wife's car. Now she is happy, preoccupied, and I'm good to go. I'm going to work on my go-kart tomorrow. I gotta order tires for it, and it is ready to go! I can't wait! So, how is your neighborhood? We have hurricanes. In a previous thread I mentioned NOT having electricity, or anything for 3 1/3 weeks. People become friendly. It's kinda the same way down here. LOTS of people bike riding, walking, and even running. Smiles and friendly faces. I like it. Stores are very quiet. I actually wrote 2 sentences complaining about weird stuff. I hit the back button! Tomorrow we're going to get crab legs and shrimp for dinner. Plus bake potato and fresh sweet corn. My belly is HUNGRY!!!
Ya better start stocking up for June 1st pal.. himmicane season is coming too. Hope its easy like our snow season was! ws
BILL!!! You are correct Sir! Luckily my wife is a hoarder. Besides everything else, we have food! I'm in charge of gas for the generator and BEER for my belly! Life is very good!
Only fun thing we have been doing is playing 3-, 4-, or 5-way solitaire, depending on who is interested. Generally lots of laughs due to established patterns for bickering and whining, though best with middle daughter participating due to her generally absurd sense of humor. Would play Mao too but can't have anyone else over. (Oops, just violated rules of thread but wanted to mention Mao because it is a scream.)
The wife and I also have been playing cards, our go to game is called "Spite and Malice" it is a type of solitaire. 2manybuicks how do you play Mao it sounds interesting, is it a box game or some kind of card game? Bob H.
Mao is complete lunacy with only minimal (secret) rules and best suited for five or more. It is stupid, childish, ridiculous, and infuriating. My wife hates it, all the millenials I know from age 10 to 30 love it, and my brother plays but it drives him crazy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mao_(card_game) Being married I know what Spite and Malice is, but describe the card game.
I've been working on the cars, taking lots of drives, riding the bicycles with the female (pic included of her on my bike when I made her ride it. She's about 5'3" for reference). This next week I'm going to go snowmobiling again, we just got 2 feet in the mountains again the last couple days! Theres still 15 feet up high. Crazy!.... On Wednesdays and Fridays I usually have a "Lucas's Speakeasy" night, and have a few friends and coworkers come over. We drink, some guys smoke, we play pool and foosball, hang out in the garage, and I'll barbecue if enough guys are hungry. Anything to keep everyone sane People are also much friendlier as you said. The other day out washing and waxing the '60, I had about 6 different neighbors all in a group in the street, talking, laughing, and all of us getting to know each other. I've been in this house 6 years and only knew 1 of them before that. Now we're all friends and they aren't afraid of the scary bald guy with all the hot rods anymore . Silver linings are everywhere. You just have to open your eyes a little wider sometimes to see them.

Dang... that bike has an 8 foot long chain on it! I showed Pat the Caddy and she said it probably seats 12! ws
Getting lot's done on my '50 Ford F47 build.... https://www.facebook.com/larry.lorence.3/media_set?set=a.10213529845495213&type=3
Sweet project! That thing is gonna be awesome! BTW, you have more pics of one truck than I have of my three daughters.
Good morning car enthusiasts! I had a great time yesterday! Heck, I have a great time every day!!! I've been "non-essential" for 2 years now. Retirement is GREAT!!! I started off the day going grocery shopping with my son. We're all Catholic. Actually the family is Catholic, I'm Episcopal. They have this crazy rule about no meat on Friday during lent. So I'm forced into eating seafood. I LOVE seafood, so I don't really understand what I'm giving up? Anyhow, we hit the grocery store right when it opened up. What an interesting group of customers in the store. I'd say half of them were wearing face masks. We bought crab legs, shrimp, and stuffed clam shells. While we're waiting in the checkout line, standing at the appropriate 6 feet apart length, I start noticing some women look pretty hot with their masks on. Kinda like Arab women with their faces covered. It leaves a lot to the imagination! After that we go to buy some fresh sweet corn. My son passes the produce store. Where are we going? He tells me there is a lady on Facebook selling corn for 16 dollars a crate. What? So we go to this lady's house and sure enough she walks out to the truck with an entire case of sweet corn. We have A LOT of corn right now if you need some. After shopping Alex went home to go to sleep. He works the midnight shift at our town's water plant. I started cleaning up the backyard for the seafood fest later that day. You may not know this, but I am a very messy person! There was stuff all over the place from last weekend's canoe / camping trip. I put all my stuff away. Then I loaded up the back of my truck with all of Alex's stuff. He's a messy person too! "Take your stuff home!!!" There, we're ready for a party! Next I washed the convertible. It hasn't been washed since I put it away after Alex's wedding. Now it's looking all pretty again. My youngest son came over. We finished off what beer I had in the refrigerator and then took the convertible to Walgreens to get more beer. It's definitely an essential product! The liquor store in Walgreens was a fun place. Walgreen's put masking tape on the floor every 6 feet in front of the checkout. The guy in front of us was encroaching a little bit on the guy if front of him, and he was wearing a mask. So I told him. "Excuse me Sir, you're not exactly on your line." He turned around and Scott and I were laughing. He started laughing. Then a young lady gets in line right behind us. We're all telling her to back it up. We had the whole line laughing! The guy in front of us checks out and is about to leave when he turns around and spots his buddy in line with a mask. So he gives me his phone to take a picture of him and his buddy wearing their masks. More laughing. We get home and the party began. Neighbor John came over with his wife. Nephew Ricky came over with his wife and 3 kids. Alex and Mayra came over. Scott's wife came over. Ya, I know. We had to many people here. Stupid rules!!! We all sat around drinking beer while the corn and potatoes were cooking. When the corn and potatoes were finished cooking we put them in a big steamer along with the crab legs and shrimp. We drank more beer while the seafood was steaming. Bam!!! It was all finished. We all pigged out!!! I was delicious!!! After dinner we drank more beer. It was a great day and night!!! This evening my oldest and I are going to meet up with our usual Saturday evening car cruise friends. More "ya I know." Florida is shut down according to the governor. He gave his order a couple of days ago. The way I see it, his order contained one key word, "urge." "We urge you to stay close to your homes." Kind of an ambiguous word, urge? So we have about 20 cars, and we're all going to cruise to the Sonic Drive-in and get some burgers. We figure we'll park in every other space to make the authorities happy. I can't really see a cop trying to pull over 20 or so cars??? I'll put a couple of pictures up. They're on my phone right now. Y'all have a GREAT weekend!!!!
Bought a one ton dump truck to help with my land clearing project, and will be behind a chainsaw for some time now.
Guy, I like chainsawing. I don't like cleaning up the mess! Good luck with your land clearing. Dang, that sounds like work.
