Shame on those of you that run buick power trains in non buick bodies. SHAME! APOLOGIES TO THAT ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION NOW!! Its a buick by golly! Have some self respect!

I wonder if I could build a solar powered Sun Coupe?
Tire smoke clouds from other lane blocking sun might be an issue though.
    More thinking to do:D

Yeah...I had a guy at Quaker say my Buick-powered Jaguar was a waste of a Buick motor....I think it's honoring Buick power.....

Your car is my favorite example of a Buick BB in another brand body.

Functionally and class second to none. Very tastefully done and unique.

THX Gary....When I saw it in the junkyard....I couldn't help but think it would be a tribute to the Buick expression "going fast with class". Wanted to do a Reatta but Jag was easier...

I think this is all much ado about nothing..

The demise of the GS nats has been forecast for 20+ years.. Yet I just attended an awesome event.. reminded me of the late 80's early 90's.. but better, because there were not black cars everywhere like June bugs on a summer evening... The GS guys, and by that I include everyone who runs early powerplants and cars, showed up, the event is back in the right spot of the calendar, and we got blessed with great weather.

None of that has anything to do with LS engines. I like 'em, work great in Suburbans and Pickup trucks where they belong. Once you learn that you take the intake manifold off to do just about anything to them, they are not too bad to work with..

But they are no savior to the car hobby.. that is silly.. Buickswild.. you say an LS saved your Firebird?.. really, the one that came with a SBC??.. having a hard time finding one? Get serious.

I think a limited class will have little effect on the nats, one way or the other, because as was said, most guys won't show up, a few BG locals, but I don't see guys pulling from long distances..

Not to mention they already have their own deal going.. Holley's LS fest, at the same track..

How about we focus on getting the long time GS owners excited about bringing their cars back to the event. Seems more productive and interesting to me.

If we had some big hook, some draw that was irresistible to the Buick guys, it would be ideal. Personally, if someone found a stash of NOS 70-72 fenders or they started reproing them, I think a lot of folks would love to see them in person like they saw the experimental parts and Denny Manner talking about it.

200MPH powered by Buick motors probably isn't a bad draw either.

I'd like to see someone put a real strong BBB in a Roadmaster wagon.....I think that's what real Buick racers would like to see...IMO.....NOT one with built up LT1 or LS motors.

I've been pondering the same question for my RMW but the LT1 gets too good of mileage when cruising around and does a competent job towing the Buicks. That's what a Chevy is for. ;) The biggest problem in my area is emissions checks if I were to swap in a 455 for daily use. Somewhere down the line I can see a 455 going in a sedan maybe and tagging it as an antique. I wonder what kind of CD a sedan has for the those top speed runs?

As soon as I get the courage to strap my GS to a trailer I will attend, hopefully next year. I have been towing trailers my whole life, but I never strapped a car down. While I don't have a race car we still need non race cars to attend also. I have not been to a Nats since 1999 but I did attend the BPG shows with my car since it was a closer drive. I get kind of lost at those shows if I don't have my GS. We need more of the Step children 68/69 represented:p

I would not be opposed to seeing non buick powered cars in Buick bodies in a separate class. If the hood of a nicely restored Buick is not opened, who knows anyways?

Honestly how many LS powered buicks are there, and how many would go to the show? I doubt the place would be overrun.

Why should I drop in a SBC when I can drop in a LS that makes more hp/torque in stock form? You get serious.

Why should I confirm to your standards and build a sbc? For acceptance from this crowd and you? No thanks!

We had six Stepchildren in BSA! I think your car would fit the class rules. Bring it and run with us! (Maybe throw in some window stickers as prizes, too?).

I swear, now that I got back into a '69 all I saw was '68 & 69's. It was me vs. a '68 in the semi's of B2 and then me vs. a '69 in the finals. :)

Crazy Mike...coming out of woodwork....I lost to one in GSR. Funny how a lot of us looked past them ....I had a chance in the 80s to buy Eddie St. Angelo's 68 GS race car that was put back to stock. White with blue interior, 4 spd. I thought it was too expensive at $3800.

I say let the LS cars come, it would be a fun rivalry and inspire grudge matches.

I'm pretty sure a local who did that back in the 2000s came through the swap area with a very healthy-sounding Roadmaster Wagon w/ BBB.

I guess I’m showing my age, but I love my 2014 Buick lacrosse. They only made that particular body style for a couple years. I believe it’s the last good looking car Buick made. Very comfortable and The ride is very smooth. If they would’ve made it with an LS and rear wheel drive it would’ve been great competition for the Dodge charger.

I believe it is ok to race non-Buick powered cars in the brackets if they have their factory drivetrain. LaCrosse, turbo Regal, LT1 Roadmaster, and such, There was a 2018-19 LaCrosse with the 305 HP V6 running 14.3 at the Nationals. My 2014 Turbo Regal would be lucky to run a 14.99.

    J.Staged My Therapy...!!

OK, so what I'm about to say some may take it with a grain of salt,.. I'll try to keep it short..
I'm getting to be one of those old timers , been around buicks about 35 years and still own my 455 powered, 72' skylark that runs 11's in street trim... I grew up in a buick family,. my first car 73' buick regal / century,. I put in a built 455.. ran very well..
But,... have never attended the BG nats,.. Not going to throw out excuses, although I'm here at work on a Sunday working 12 hours,...

So to start out I first want to thank Gary Kubish and Todd69GS and other's who has encouraged my son to build his buick like he wants... both know what he's doing and Gary know's part of this story...
Todd we don't live far from you in Romulus ... one day we will meet...

My kids grew up in my Buick, and drove it some and fell in love with old cars like me.. both are now,-- chelsea age 32 and chandler 25... so now where I'm going with this story...!!

So back in the day when Chandler was in middle school at 14 years old, and not doing very well with grades, he is ADHD, could not focus and failing, his self asteem was down.. but still a great kid but frustrated
with his self... we put him on conserta and that seem to help... but I wanted to give him a goal to work for so I stumbled upon a 70' Buick skylark post car.. 77,000 miles on her...

I went to go look at it right by our house, couldn't believe it was that close 15 mins... didn't tell my wife about it or my plan, lol.. Bought it for a good deal running completely original... told the guy he had to hold it for me for a few weeks.. until I broke the news to my wife over dinner, 3 weeks later at dinner when I said we had to go pick up a 70' skylark for our son, its close by.. she looked up at me and said why he's only 14, you're kidding right ,.. I said nope, getting it tonight,.. she had that look in her eye,.. I told her he like's old cars I had buick parts and it gives him a goal to work for when I tell him its his... If he graduate's with A's and B's...
So I put it in the back yard and used as a learning tool for him, to learn about cars more, like learning how to properly jack up a car, take off the wheels, clean and paint brake drums and frame, in the mean time he never new I was going to give it to him.. I waited until he was 15 when his grades came up,.. one day I told him to go get the red 70' skylark and wash it and shine the tires up.

When he got done I said thats a really nice 70' post skylark, good job,.. now go put YOUR car back where it was, he said what,, and I said yep, its yours if you graduate with good grades,. he did just that..
and I thought great we will one day put a 455 in this nice car and put it in the fast lane.. Seeing that I have several 455 buick motors still today, but that wasn't his plan when he was 19 years old..
The day came I said ready for a 455,.. well dad, I want to run a LS motor I've been watching a lot of video's about LS motors running 9's on junk yard builds with a turbo,.. I first looked at him and said man these Buick guy's are going to flip out about you putting a LS in your car and he said sorry, but I want to go fast for cheap,.. lol, and I said is it really that easy, he showed me the video's , and it was crazy how fast they were going with small LS combo's with the necesary up grades, cam, rod bolt's, trunion upgrades and sized turbos...

Then I said looking at him,. I know nothing about a LS engine's or turbo's and he said you've got a lot of learning to do,.. "I didn't get mad but something struck me funny, I thought to myself,". If this is what it takes to keep him busy and out of trouble, and us bonding a close relationship in the garage, then I'm in... I will help him build this car the way he want's too... and we have done that.. along with some help from friends..

--- Moral of the story,. we may not realize who we are effecting by our old stubborn way's and tradition of our buick cars, he's bummed he can't run it at the BG nats.. and he love's Justin Cox's car for sure...but still appreciates all of the high end buick builds and buick engine race cars.. but it might just be our kids and some of the LS buick bodied cars that make the national's stay alive along with the many nice original buicks that will still show up..

Hopefully his car will be out this fall making some killer passes...and very streetable,. he has not wasted any expense on building this car from motor to electronics, roll bar , suspension and a chute,.. lol

PS.. so the LS cheap build was sweep under the carpet,.. it can be expensive, my son said he's building it right the first time... LS 416 alum block twin turbo's... that's in the car as I type..

So.. one day I hope to be at the BG nats, with my car and my son's LS BUICK skylark... good luck to us all on this subject...
