Already got vaccinated back in October with the trivalent vaccine. I was shopping in Costco and they had it in single dose vials, so I went for it. Didn't even know about the quadravalent version back then. Now it's all over the air waves, go figure:grin:

They are poison and there is way to many saying that they do not work. The reason they want to give vaccines over taking a med when one gets sick is because $$$$$$$$ they can make more money if they can vaccinate everyone over just treating a very small % of sick. Look at Ebola, they are making vaccines not a cure. Its always been like that. People still get sick, people still die after a vaccine shot. The side effects are everything from getting sick, getting disease's or death. Its all about business and making money.

Me Too. I haven't had the flu since I was a kid - and that was a hell of a long time ago.

I can't say what is best for anybody else. I do know that my wife gets sick every time she gets a flu shot.

And somebody mentioned Guillain-Barre snydrome, well I had this two years ago about this time of year. Definitely thought my days were numbered. The nueroligist that saw me recommended I DON'T get a flu shot because of the effects it could have on me after having this syndrome. He also said if he was in my position, he wouldn't get the shot either.

So, no flu shots for me and the wife.

If you read it, it doesn't say it isn't effective at all. It says it may not be as effective against the dominant strain this year. Every year, the CDC tries to predict the dominant strains, and include them in the vaccine. Some years are better than others, and as noted, flu viruses can mutate lessening the effectiveness of the vaccine. It also says the vaccine can provide partial protection, and possibly lessen the severity in case of infection. There are a lot of ifs, ands, buts, and maybes in that statement.

As a public school teacher (retired) I found that there is one other sure thing beside death and taxes - every year when school started after summah vacation, most of the teachers would get sick. We were inside a closed-up building with 850 young people who sneeze, touch, and don't carefully wash their hands. There has been some movement to get rid of the February vacation. This is a bad idea, as that nine-day break separates the kids and breaks the chain of colds and disease.
BTW: With all of the drugs and chemicals that we absorb these days, the average lifespan at birth in the USA has risen from 44 in 1900 to over 75 today.
This type of thread is my favorite. I love oil threads and oil filter threads too!

yep. I read it. And, that's what i got out of it, too. And it's true for every year, that they are guessing which flu(s) will be spreading around.
I posted it as, just food for thought.

As said before, I don't get the shot anyway. So it's not going to effect my decision.

I too, like the threads with varying opinions.

My avocation has me working with high school kids. That is football officiating. There again, it is an outdoor activity. ...

I never went to a school that had air conditioning. So, we had the windows open during warm weather. And apparently the custodial staff only knew to run the boilers at full burn during the winter. The radiators were cranking out so much heat that we had the windows open all winter, too. So, we were getting that good old fresh air all year.

The blinds are rattling on my window as I type... the window is open...

This is a good topic and a even split on the poll:TU: I think location has a lot to do with getting the flu:eek2: If You live in a big city the odds are against You. I still say the shot is more about cash and less about helping people:Dou:

I am allergic to poultry, turkey, chicken and eggs. I have avoided it for fear of a major reaction to the eggs in the vaccine.

Yep --now that the virus has mutated the vaccination may only prevent hospitalization or death rather than preventing any symptoms.

You know, I'm curious, to the people who decide not to get the flu shot, how do you feel about vaccinations in general?

Generally I am against them. Yes, I do not get the flu shot, and never will.

The human body is a marvelous piece of bio engineering, which when left alone, can readily defeat most viruses.

I won't get into other ailments which befall us at this time.

There are indisputable links between vaccines and autism.
