I got the shot the first and only time in the early 90's. The very next day I was sicker than I had ever been or been since. No one can convince me that the shot did not give me the flu. never got the shot again and other than a short round of sniffles at the change of seasons every few years I've not been sick again.
A few years back a friend got the shot and then died 4 days later. A big resounding NO for me.

I had the flu once and like the others said it was a week of absolute misery. I Get the flu shot every year now and don't wish the flu on anyone, not even those that think western medicine is voodoo.:Dou:

A few nights in Mogadishu will cure this view of the U.S. government which happens to be the best government in the world.

    I've never had the flu.

I've never had a flu shot.

I work outside every day in all kinds of weather. for most of 37 years.
    From
    90+humidity in 90+degrees summer
    to
    freezing and sub freezing winter

I'm not going to make an argument of why someone should not get a flu shot.
By the same token, I won't be convinced to get a flu shot.

You are actually better off outside. You are more likely to get sick when you are inside in close proximity to other people, especially with the flu, which is spread through the air when people sneeze. The idea that cold weather causes illness is an old wives tale. If you aren't dressed for the elements and you are cold, that can lower resistance, but the cold or heat doesn't cause you to get sick directly.

May you never get the flu. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.

NO shots for me....i get low doses of everything on the planet when my wife comes home from work.....critical care RN...isolation patients all the time....remember people your immune system is one of the MOST POWERFUL forces in nature....you take care of and feed it....it will take care of you!

But the last year or two she is forced to get the shots....and she is always healthy.....that plus the extra computer work forced on RN's from documentation for ACA payment might make it time for her to become a full time groovy grandma to our 5 grandkids.

And local health care will lose a very good and professional and caring RN.

    Nothing political here......just the facts.

    Peace WildBill

.....more popcorn please....and a chocolate shake....... remember, whatever that does not kill you only makes you stronger

50 million deaths from the flu circa 1917-19 beg a different conclusion.

I'm sure that you're right about that. And, I agree. I'm going to keep doing what works for me.

Thanks. And, I pray the same for everyone. The flu shot is there for those that need/want it. My history tells me, I don't happen to fall into that category

I have been getting the flu shot annually. I have had the pneumonia shot & the shingles shot.
To of u naysayers, please reconsider. As another author on this thread stated to revisit the pandemic flu the that struck world wide in 1918, Please do.
Acquire shingles and u will not believe the pain that ensues for months, yet preventable by the antiviral shot
The safety valves are out there, use them or suffer.
Here in Ontario, it is not mandatory for healthcare workers to receive the flu shot.
