I got my shot last Friday. I would rather get the shot than the flu. After not getting flu shots for many years (and not getting the flu, either), I got the flu three time in 6-8 years and decided I didn't want it anymore.

    NO WAY, NO HOW
The flu vaccine as well as most other vaccines is just BIG PHARMA trying to make BIG money and kill us off in the process.
More people die every year from so called medicine every year then the flu.
Aluminum and Mercury... How does that prevent the flu?
There have been studies in the past linking the flu vaccine in particular to Alzheimer's.
There are thousands of nurses and doctors across the country that refuse the flu vaccine and all you have to do is a little google searching to find out why.

    Here is some good reading.

Tuff subject matter in our family, bunch of medical proffesionals one being my wife!:Dou:
I'm told it is mantatory for them to get the flu shots working in a hospital. So they think it is alright to pressure everyone else
to get one also. I finally gave in two years ago and got one and again last year, Not going to get one this year and maybe never again.
I have been blessed with good overall heath over the years and rarely get even a cold. For the past two years about 1-2 months after getting the flu shot I would come down with some type of sickness or flu type illness. Both times I can not ever remember ever being that sick for that length of time.
They all tell me it is not from the flu shot, but I will swear up and down that it has to be.
My answer would be a definite NO!!!

I've gotten the flu vaccine every year since the early '90s, after getting the flu two years in a row. Anyone who underestimates the flu, or thinks the vaccine is a gimmick might want to reconsider their opinion. The flu can kill you, or in my case, it can make you wish you were dead. Utter misery.
If you've been sick and thought you had the flu, you haven't. You'll know when you do and then you'll get a flu shot, every year. Just like me.
I was 28 the last time I had it and now I'm 50 and I shudder to think about going through that again at my age, or god forbid, farther down the road.

Come on in Larry. You are good help!

"World War I claimed an estimated 16 million lives. The influenza epidemic that swept the world in 1918 killed an estimated 50 million people. One fifth of the world's population was attacked by this deadly virus. Within months, it had killed more people than any other illness in recorded history."

 Posting on these threads is like banging your head against a brick wall. You'll never convince everyone. I expect Jason to be posting on this thread soon. I think he says the shot includes a tag so the government can track you, or something like that.

I do agree with Doug, the flu is unlike any cold. Once you have had it and felt like you are going to die, you get the vaccine there after. JMO.

This Is why I posted it. The entertainment value is very high and CNN stopped reporting on ebola so I guess they found a cure:Brow:

The reason I no longer get the shot is when I did get it I got the flu (2 years in a row) now I don't get the shot and I dont get the flu. I also do no use hand sanitizer or anti bacterial soap. I think the healthy living is what is killing people:Do No:

    Spanish Flu was H1N1.

They say old people should get vaccinated every year but the last time H1N1 came around, you know who it disproportionately DIDN'T affect? Old people! Many of them either lived through the Spanish Flu, or are the children of people who did.

Getting the flu, and of course surviving it, imparts lifetime immunity to that strain. Something the vaccine can't do.

My wife is in the medical field as well and has to have her immunity tested regularly. Last time it came back saying that she had ZERO immunity to anything. All her childhood vaccinations that we all get simply weren't there. She had to go through the whole round all over again.

I never had chicken pox but we suspected my oldest son did once so I got the varicella shots. Turns out, he didn't have chicken pox but now no one can tell me with any certainty if I just doomed myself with a possible case of shingles in the future.

I did the flu vaccine a few years back when my middle boy was younger because he was born premature so I figured better safe than sorry. Boy was I sorry because I nearly died from the flu. My wife called 911 and I had to sign the refusal when the EMT's got there. All my muscles were spasming due to being dehydrated. In the short time before they got to the house, I was able to keep down just enough Gatorade that I could feel my whole body relaxing so I knew I was going to be OK.

Now if I start to feel sick, I pound down some high dose vitamin C drink with some echinacea and I'm usually good in a day or two.

I have never gotten the flu shot. I also haven't gotten the flu in longer than I can remember.
I'm sure once you get sick you'll do anything to get over it. but then it's to late.

I don't have any plans on getting either one today or tomorrow.
just kinda hangin out, watching the thread, waiting for the riot to begin.

    Pass the popcorn please,:beers2:

Here's another myth. "The government has your best interest in mind and would never lie to you."

Something that isn't a myth...a really "good" flu shot covers FOUR strains. There are 144 possible strains of Influenza A.

    http://www.npr.org/blogs/health/2013/05/07/180808276/whats-in-a-flu-name-hs-and-ns-tell-a-tale

So while you might not get the strain in the shot, there are 140 other ways to take you down. Sleep tight.
