i would love to hear what the commentators have to say about this car when it comes across the block the 2nd time

i bet they dont even mention why it is back up so fast

some drunk will probably still bid 200 for it

The Palm Beach auction does, but the Scottsdale auction when it sold for $325k claimed "Original window sticker, broadcast sheet, dealer invoice, and warranty card.

    http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/onlinesubmission/lotdetails.aspx?ln=1314&aid=466

There is also a claim that is has its 'born with drive train" in the Scottsdale auction, and the Palm Beach auction is vague and lists different terms for several important components that lead me to believe that some or all were re-stamped and not "born with parts".

I bet the guy who bought it will get all his money back after it sells the second time. The question is will it come from the original seller or BJ the consignor?

Great, now the price of genuine Flint UAW weed is going to leap to $500/oz. just so people can duplicate ' factory assembly variances' for stamping letters.

Jeez, if I was going to restamp a part I'd start with a much cleaner part, that's for sure.

Buyer got a refund . Im guessing the org consigner is running again . Price was not out of line had the docs been real and numbers . 1 of 96 . and Olds had no Sloan or GS Historical society . So Paperwork trail is the utmost importance . I'm guessing still bring 100k . Even clone money or factory 442 ( non w-30) based on the resto ...

You throw that kind of bank at a car and do not do every bit of homework you can you are asking for it. I would like to see before and after pictures at minumum. I bet there are many many cars that sell thru those high dollar auctions that are Frankstein cars with nice paint and a vin. Seen the discussions even on this baord about swapping vin's being acceptable. Not in my eyes ever. If it wasn't born that way it isn't that plain and simple. I have to agree with the post about how in the hell do they know it is one of how many. Like was also said Olds does not have as extensive records as other manufactures. 325K for an Olds ragtop is crazy cash. I am a huge Olds guy having actually owned a Rallye Red 442 myself. Mine actually had dash marks instead of a paint code. Damn good looking car for sure but 325k?? :Do No:

Moon, that is my question as well. Did Thornton purchase it as a numbers car? Did they restore it for a customer? Has anyone in the Olds world received Thorton's take on all of this? I would think as highly acclaimed as Thornton's is, they should clearly know a 'bogus' VIN stamp or 'bogus' paperwork???
