I wish I didn't have to work and could be there, as I would probably place a few bids on it.

I think there maybe on-line bidding as well. You would need to check with the Auction house.

Duane, is the '65 Skylark NOT a GS? It's listed that way but does have the emblems.

I believe Joel Rosen verbiage was such that he could not be held responsible if the car somehow was found not to be a true motion car.

This story should be in Muscle car review or Hemings Magizine

Did anyone ever find out the original selling dealership? Or any prior ownership? It would be another piece of evidence if it were sold new at a dealership close to Motion. Or having been a LI car

    Jason,
The original dealer was 03168 which translates to Emmel Buick Co. Inc. Mt. Holly NJ.

I was over Jimmy's after work today and got a few more pics of parts going with the car.
He found 5 Red line tires, still wrapped in the plastic, a nice grille surround from Ca., He has a nice rear trunklid, and a nice 69 GS hood, and then he found the New 10.5 to 1 pistons. We thought the ones I posted earlier were the ones for the car but he found the new ones today. He also has some very nice taillights and I took a pic of some of them. We also found a much nicer 69 Big Block fan shroud, so he is including that one instead of the slightly damaged one.
I also took a pic of the hole in the floor for the shifter. Ya just gotta love how the factory buned out the holes with a torch.
    Enjoy.

Oil pan looks like a big car one from this angle.

    Gary,
It very well may be, there are so many parts there we keep finding more pieces. I will be going over there on Friday to sort through the last shelves of parts that were back by the frame.

I wish I had the room or my body had the energy to take this project on, it would be fun and very satisfying when complete.

Yes, I believe Joel is leaving himself some "wiggle room" on purpose. Below is a similar letter from Mr. Rosen that accompanied a 1971 Motion Phase III Camaro sold by Mecum...

In other words, he doesnt know if the Camaro was ever in his shop or not. Sounds like they kept serial number records, and that one wasnt there. Same for the 70 GSX and the car in this thread.

I would love to think the GSX and this 69 GS Buick are indeed true Motion modified cars, but there just is not any hard proof of it. Unfortunately.

Does Rosen charge a fee for these letters?

    1972Mach1 Just some M.M.O.G. guy.....

To me, it sounds like they just didn't keep records on them all or probably tossed out old records after so many years. He's all but authenticating both cars, but is leaving himself out of legal issues IF there is one. Working in a dealership, I can tell you we didn't keep the records of every single vehicle that came through for years when it was a paper thing. You couldn't do it, where would you put them all? You'd need a whole storage facility just for paperwork. Now that it's computers, sure, back then? Probably ain't gonna happen.

Yes, Mr Rosen charges a healthy fee for the letter or just searching for the info.

If he charges a fee for the letters, then that makes me even more wary of his letter. Kind of a conflict of interest.

And if indeed he didnt keep the records over all these past years, then my point is made.

    Walt,
The 65 is a Skylark and not a GS.

    Terry,
Front Rear Bumper (are re-plated and are in the wrappers.)
Front Rear Bumper Brackets (Powder coated and wrapped up)
Fuel Filler Door (Powder coated in silver and ready to install)
Inner Fenders (Are on the original front end, D. side is nice, P. side needs patch panel which we are still looking for)
Horns (are I believe still on the front clip)
Headlamp Buckets (are I believe still on the front clip)
Hood Latch (still on the front clip)
Hood Latch/Core Support Bracket (are I believe still on the front clip)
Fender to Firewall Brackets (are I believe still on the front clip)
Voltage Regulator (New one is there as well as an Original so you have the correct cover)
Wiper Motor (Might be on the car?)
Front Marker Lights (on the front clip)
Front Fender Support Rods (on the front clip)
Front Fender Eye-Brow Molding (I think they are on the original front clip)
Grille Support Brackets (on the front clip)
Rear 4 Speed Frame Brackets/Stiffeners (Powder coated and ready for install)
Front Drum Backing Plates (Powder coated)
Upper A-Arm Bushing Shafts (Powder coated Silver, as well as the large nuts and washers)
Front Fender Wheel Opening Moldings (On original front clip)
Water Pump (I am pretty sure there is a new one there)
Alternator (Used and needs rebuilt) has the adjusting bracket too)
Misc Engine Brackets (Saw some Engine pulleys, but don't remember all that's there. I think he has a 69 430 engine that he is throwing in for parts)
    Motor Mounts/Frame Mounts (New)
Trans cross member (has the brackets and insulators)

I will check on the other parts tomorrow.
I think he has a reproduction set of front and rear door panels too. We did not open the box, but will verify that tomorrow as well.

You pay a fee for the research, ie his time.
The letter you get from him depends on whether he thinks the car is legit. If he thinks it is a made up car, then I understand you get a rejection letter back
