I'm not trying to say I can out do you, I'm simply saying I have had my fair share of bad luck and I have learned from it and I won't don't it again. I do know somethings about Buick 4e 55's my uncle owned three Buick GS Stage 1 Skylarks and they all went low 12's on factory shxx.,I'm not daying he didn't change anything because he did but with all factory Buick stuff. He also had a 1965 Buick Skylark that was tubbed and had a four link in it, the engine wad 455 GS Stage 1 with a lot if factory performance parts and that car went in the low 11's because it was light weight. My uncke is the one that got me away from any other manufacturer . So please don't think i don't know what I'm doing because i do know what I'm doing and if i have any problems you all will be the first to know and my other uncle that was a Buick engine engineer.

You can absolutely out do me. I can tell by the things you have talked about that you know your stuff. I will never debate that with you.

Just to make it clear, I'd much rather see a Buick engine in a Buick.

No worries. Looks like the quote function is acting goofy on my Tapatalk app too. Tuna's name came up when I quoted bigdwg last night.

First off, the women I date have manicured nails and wear high heels they dont have greasy hands and broad shoulders, but Im not here to judge what anyone does behind closed doors. my comment was meant in no way to disrespect women, if i ask my girlfriend about camshaft duration im met with the same blank stare i would give her if she asked me about the latest fashion trends. I was unaware my situation wasnt typical. all my chick knows is what looks good and goes fast, and thats all that really matters right?

I would love to keep a buick in my buick that would be great but the cost and quality of performance parts is sad to say the least. So i go another route in that department. the point to some of the stuff Ive said on here is look at what you guys are saying! you all want heads and blocks and high performance stuff to go fast and in the same breath you complain how none of that stuff is buick and its not a buick anymore.... gee wonder why no one is going any faster than 1978.

I guess I am a sell out then, but Im part of a pretty good list of sell outs, lets start with olds and pontiac who sold out for putting buick v6s in their cars, oh and caddy too they put chevy motors in their late model cars.... oh crap BUICK put olds 403s and chevy 305s in their late model big bodies... guess buick is sell out too... and rher morrison raced a maverick with a small chevy in the 70s, called it the real boss 302. I guess im in good company at the very least.

I wont post in the "race" section anymore, its kind of an oxy moron anyways......

ps every fast n/a car on here runs a chrylser B1 manifold.... i guess those guys are sell outs too cuz that aint a buick!

Depends on who you ask. To me, it's a Buick with a BI intake manifold on it.

To others, it's no longer a Buick.

Mine has a BBC dampner, pulley, and crank trigger on it. Other non-factory items are copper head gaskets, O-rings, belt driven oil pump, turbos, fuel injection, and green paint!

I don't think I'll lose any sleep over it

And, again, you show your lack of knowledge about women. My wife, as are most of my colleague's wives, do not look like transvestites. Mine is a girly, girl who dresses nice, gets her hair and nails done, etc. But she knows how to swap an engine, understands cam specs and can row a 4-speed. Most of the guys who married gals who knew/cared less about our hobby, get grief about spending money on their cars and the time spent working on them. Makes their life a bit convoluted. Some even got neutered and sold them. Find a chick who gets it or wants to learn and you'll be much happier even if you put a Mopar engine in you Buick she'll still love you. We won't. But we ain't gonna sleep with ya either.

I'm with you, I don't care that I have a TA block, heads, intake etc etc etc, I still call it a Buick and everyone else can call it what ever they want. I know I don't lose sleep over that or anything else. ps I just checked, I took a pic of your car at BG in 06:TU:, didn't see it in my 08 pics. canceled a couple other years at last minute due to weather.

All discussion of women and men aside,

I don't know what constitutes a "Buick", either. My Wildcat sports Buick badges and styling, it's still a Buick by VIN but is full of aftermarket parts. For what it's worth, the block, crank and rods are Buick.

On the contrary, the first time I drove a sub-ten second run was because of marrying my Buick engine with a bucket and basket case. We got down the track at Milan, MI two times. If I remember right, we broke the powerglide on the third.

It was certainly a conversation piece, at the least! Even with the 430 hanging out for everyone to see, the question we heard most was "who makes that intake"? This was maybe 1990 or '91.

Granted I guess it ran fair on the squeeze, but N20 setup or not, if my 3300lb car only went 117mph with 427cid, pretty nice head , and a 750lift roller id part it out and start over. You can build a whole car for $8k that will dip into the 5's off the yellowbullet classifieds. Down here in the dirty south theys more 355 and 383 iron head Gbodys running mid 6's with junk parts than I can stir with a stick
