Chris, at this point I hope you realize that you were never the one labeled the "name dropper". There was never a time that I can remember that you weren't doing things for yourself rather than relying on others except for confirmation of your work. Hopefully you can see where the recent comments have come from with the stuff going on in this thread.

I didn't even know who Darin Morgan was when it came to automotive work until now, and I'm betting he's not too happy for this kind of exposure thanks to Gary. It's backfired before for him.

You're not going to learn "secrets" from a HP book published in 2010 that you discovered and read in 2014 (yes, the so-called secrets are out). You do realize what's behind these sort of books, right? It's been the same since the '80's. Get people interested, give them some tech, make them want to seek out more, especially to buy parts or otherwise spend dollars.

Hey, I had Vizard's books, make sure you get his name right if you're going to quote him. I would have never ventured into Nitrous Oxide injection if it hadn't been for him.

So the big question is: Have you been calling Morgan, Vizard, Tomazewski, Gessler, Skaling, Weise, just to talk and ask questions? How has that worked out for you so far? Let me know and we might be able to compare some notes, since I am a long time customer of a few, and have a great deal of respect for the rest.

In the mean time, stop calling people on the phone for trivial questions. Or go to school. Or pick up a die grinder and find out what it takes and school yourself, then report back.

I'm guessing you've not tried swimming in the mess of iron filings that results from porting iron, or aluminum for that matter. I'd be happy to know about your porting work.

I know popcorn really well. Your popcorn probably isn't so good, but I've been reading about Orville Redenbacher who knew how to do popcorn, so he is the master of popcorn.

Devon, its funny you should ask some of this question. First, yes I have called Darin Morgan on the cylinder head design I sent him, yes he did tell me I was heading in the rt direction but not full out on how to design a head. Number two, yes I have called Greg Gessler! Why you ask? Becausr I wanted to know why Big block Buick heads didn't do well as compared to all other manufacture big blocks, his answer was this " the ports are to low and not long enough." I asked him what he met by long enough and tall enough. His response was "Buick cylinder heads are not like any big block heads out there that includes aftermarket heads. they lack a lot of port height and length and it did have any one of this people would realize the full potential of a real race head.". Number three, yes I have called Mike at TA Performance and we did talk for over an hour about my drawings and possible having them made. I also called him back after I called Sonny at Sonny's Racing engines to see if he could. help Mike develop a all out race head. Sonny agreed to, if Mike would call him. Number three, Yes I wrote to the same people that Mike is dealing with rt now to get the best head possible. Yes I have writin to AFR "Air Flow Research" about making a set of heads for mike but his saying wad this " there is not enough market for those cylinder heads." Dart, profiler, Brodix, and several others has said the same thing. The only reason I bring up the big names is because I know what they have said to me. Devon, I have ported over 30 sets of heads in my life time and had some amazing results. NOT ALL PORT WORK IS THE SAME. I have learned through all my contactions that wet flow is a necessity , especialy in racing... I have no disrespect for anyone on here. Im trying to inform them thete is a simpler way and show proof of it. Yes I have talkef with David Vizard too. He is the one to tell me to ask questions but don't ask direct questions on where to port because you'll be on there sxxt list then. Dr. J's is another good source of information on cylinder heads. just remember no direct questions and choose your words wisely ..If know one what's to know how to port heafs more precisely then I stop givin information!

Devon, do this for me, call mike at TA and ask him if he is still working with Curtis Boggs of RFD "RACE FLOW DEVELOPMENT ". I bet he says yes...

I'll likely regret stepping into this, but I feel it needs to be said...

Then what? Not sure what the point is...

How would that conversation go? (Devon) "Oh you ARE working with**." (Mike) "Why?" (Devon) "Some guy on the internet asked me to ask you...he must really know his sh**." (Mike) "I have to get back to work now, thanks for calling." Click.

Please stop "bragging about your friends's dicks". They don't appreciate it.

Now that you have 30 sets of heads under your belt and are starting with some educational advantages, you can devote your life to going further. When you break new ground or accomplish something the rest of the world hasn't, please shout it from the mountaintops. Hopefully you have the same enthusiasm towards a career in head porting as you do with your forum posting. Good luck, I've had a hard time making decent $$ at it. As good as I might be, it's a "hobby".

Pretty sure anyone mildly interested in head porting knows that wet flow testing is better, and who some of the big names are in the biz.

Here's an original thought, Let's put a better head on a Buick! No-one's EVER thought about adapting another design...give me $$. What?? No $$?? Then yer all a bunch of idiots...
Does this sum up the thread?

How am I or anyone else a better head porter now?

I have an idea, I have a garage literally full of castings that need porting. Since you're good, I'll give you $20 a head to port them so I can work on promoting the biz...never mind, you have a bad attitude.

Man, what a tool you are. did even read any of the pages on this thread? If you did, you wouldve realized mike is working with someone one here and Curtis boggs to develop a cylinder head that is gonna be different from anything you ever saw but, I swear you didn't read that part! Oh well, it shoes that you are still in the past again. If any of the head porters out there didn't want there name spread about they would never put their name on the web! I see concepts are beyond your control again. Any logical person that can't offord a pro port job is gonna do what they can to get similar results (not exact). If you think I'm wrong then again why do pro's port heads and sell them? Its for people like you and I to try to replicate them. Wow, isn't that a concept?

I sure won't be calling Mike. The last thing he needs is to deal with this sort of crap.

Well before the internet, when I was just a teenager I was the guy calling Jim Bell hoping for Buick answers and Nunzi Romano for Pontiac answers. So I am officially a "name dropper" now.

I was the silly kid who spent time at Kustom Equipment in Flint, MI asking stupid questions.

Before they all told me to get lost, they were patient, and in the end they told me to study and then told me to stop making long distance calls for silly questions. I was too young to drive, so Mom took me to the library. Her dropping me in the reference section with a pocket full of dimes for making photocopies was huge.

I took their advice. I studied.

Enough said. That was then, this is now.

I'm just an old man that has raced Buicks since 1968,and I admit I sure don't know squat about new technologies.
I've sat back and read all 20 some pages of this thread and ,gentlemen,I'm embarrassed. I can't believe we've come to this, corvette boards, mopar boards, maybe, but not us.

We have such a wealth of knowledge and talent here,I won't mention all the names, but certainly I respect and glean info from you all to make my applications better.

I've built many motors for me and others and I don't do the fastest but they are good reliable mills. Years ago I did porting on iron heads, heres where I realized that if you don't know what your doing you'll screw up. I don't do any porting myself,I recognize that many people know much more than I do.
Alternate opinions are valuable,my dad used to say "if 2 people agree on everything, ones not needed"

We need to share these various ideas from everyone instead of "swashbuckling"and sparring and insulting each other.
Maybe this thread has gone too far already and egos got hurt and name calling created enemies. We're adults here, lets agree to disagree and if we can't come together go your merry way,do what each think is the best way to go and prove what you've done on the dragstrip.

Please continue to develop heads for our Buicks,we can't compete with the big boys without a race head.Mike has given the block to handle the hp,a good head is needed.

So I am grateful that there are many of you willing to spend time and money to give us this head.

My opinon probably doesn't matter much, but I've been here since the beginning and I can't keep watching whats going on.
This will be my only post on this thread, hopefully we can overcome what this thread turned into.

God Bless and have a good day.See you at the track.

This applies to you more than anyone else in this thread. We get it, you are the best name-dropper and wannabe head porter on planet earth.

I'm sorry, but in all of the confusion, I must have missed what your current Buick race car is and what it runs, who built the engine and some details on the combination etc.

Ebb and FLOW aye....... I would like to thank Gary for inspiring all the new posts . I would think people could respond with idears and expiearance. You just have to look past all of Garys small talk and he can be very interesting. Believe it or not he has contributed quite a lot of informative stuff. He has loaded many photos too, and I know that takes time. There is a great combination of personalities here, tons of knowledge and expiearance. Hell I was banned for being intolerable from this web site way back in late 90ies, the same moderators as today but they were way too puckered up back then. So does anybody have any backyard wet flow techniques???

That's all well and good, but Gary should of started his own thread for posting what he wants to share with the Buick community instead of posting on a dead thread to keep it alive. Zombie thread.:Do No: With all the drama he and others has caused on this thread I doubt the OP will be back to share his results.:puzzled:

It is really a shame that whenever someone tries to post a head porting thread here it turns out this way.
