Honestly John, it's cause I can't find you damn phone number :Dou: . Oh and I just got tired of waiting. I have obviously been watching here, the interest in a legit run of intakes isn't good enough to get any attention from anyone, so I am moving on. Well, if I could get my machinist moving that is. Working Chevy now. Mopar is sitting in the wings. By the time the snow flies these will be available. NOT this racing year but hopefully in plenty of time for winter projects and next season.

As to the pricing question asked above.............. I have no idea yet. I ain't looking to get rich by any means. Just depends on the cost of materials and machinists labor, plus the ride. I KNOW I have agreed to buy 3 for myself to get this started. I will build them, test them on my own junk, them offer them when I know they're a good part.

PS- John, email me your number again. It's my turn to call you. I am on the fly tonight maybe next day or two ????

I'd love a set of heads most likely 2 sets and 1 intake. But what is the status of this thread is there anything going forward on these parts. Is T/A really going to have heads in 07?

well guys - this thread is now over three years old , the last serious info is over three months old and i'm not paying $800 - $1000 for an intake . sorry . how'd we get the $400 estimate ? two warning signs here on the board - (1) check out the birthdays every time you click in , a few 20's and 30's and then its right up to the 50-60-70 range , ouch - thats me . any chevy boards similar to this one ? - probably a ton of teens and twenty's on there . when we're gone we're gone . they've got fresh meat coming in - buying parts , encouraging companies to build those parts . demographics ! failure to push the performance image = failure to survive . fast needs to come before fast with class . (2) just in the process of getting some good forged pistons that mike set up in a thread here a couple weeks ago ( TWO WEEKS , salt in the wound ) - i felt it was kind of a light turn out to tell you the truth - so if you have a light turn out for decent priced quality forged pistons you are probably gonna have a light turn out for an expensive single plane style intake and you can for sure throw the head idea into the dumpster . it is time to suck it up and put efforts towards a good quality adapter setup that will be affordable , allow the use of a decent variety if intakes and flow good numbers . thanks . del

    One of the few....

I am 32 in that younger age range. We'll have to see if we can save the 350.....It needs to show some speed and reliability over its bigger brother if it is ever to be saved. Work in Progress....... :Smarty: It will have to be campaigned for speed and power before the parts will come so guys will have to be creative to get the ground work going. I see some good stuff going on but only a few in a car going down the track. Need more of those 10 and 9 sec passes.

I am 17 years old, and I plan, or at least want to keep a Buick 350 in my stable, at least 1. And after I am done using the engine for my daily driver, i'll pull the engine out, and I plan to rebuild it, using some good aftermarket performance parts for a mild, streetable engine, and if aluminum heads are available for the 350 Buick engine when I am in the process of a rebuild, you can put me in line for a pair, but heck, what am I anyways? :pp I think if the 350 Buick engine is going to survive, then yes, we are going to have to prove that it is worthy of saving, although I already think that's been done quite a few times over the past, ever since the Buick 350 was born, it's just proven itself worthy over and over and over again, and will continue to do so ....Vendors...are you all listening?!?!?!:Do No:

I would be very interested in Hi-po 350 parts. Always felt that 455 was only way to go, but maybe there will be an option.

I think the best way to get a set of heads cast would be to get together
and cut a deal with champion to slightly modify there tooling to add a
extra cylinder to there v6 heads or at least contract it out. What i
understand is the v6 is a 350 buick with 2 less cylinder heads and
it would be good business for champion since the work is already done.
All the research and development is there and they could make more
money off there investment . Lets face it thats the only way because
it dont look like any of the big companys wont too invest in the 350
because they are scared to death that they will not get there research
and development money back so it would be more economical to just
piggyback on whats already there. after thats done i think edelbrock
or weyiend would be glad to cast a decent manifold. Just my 2 cents:bglasses:

350/v6 - lower end basically same , top end basically different . the v6 uses more of an old style 300v8/nailhead lookin type head . the 350 is more of a pontiac laid over/down exh port lookin head . i doubt the v6/300 style heads , even though they are kind of a bolt on , would flow good enough without a ton of work . that was the opinion somewhere along the way when somebody asked about putting alum 300 heads on a 350 . that was with stock alum heads - the champs may be a different story . weight advantage but not flow advantage . plus i'm thinkin the intake side would also be different . del

the 215-340 engines had a "Ex In, Ex In, In Ex, In Ex" valve order while the 350 was "Ex In, In Ex, Ex In, In Ex".

the 231 has a "Ex In, Ex In, In Ex" valve order. they got this by subtracting the #7/#2 position on the head. the v6 head could be converted to 350 compatibility by inserting an "In Ex" pair between the #1 and #3 positions. slightly more complex than just tacking another combustion chamber onto the end of the head but still easily doable with CAD design and production.

why TA has never gotten off of their @$$3$ and done this is beyond me. :spank:

intake ? anyone have some china or australian connections ?
intake adapter ? in over my head ? maybe . anyways - so i've rounded up sb mopar and sb chevy intakes ( cast i'm sorry to say ) and a sb mopar intake gasket and a mopar 440 intake gasket and this afternoon took an extra 69 350 block and heads and got it up on an engine stand and started looking things over . first the sb chev - although the choices would seem endless and cheap - just did not seem to line up well - the port layout was about the same as the sb mopar but the rise and angle were weird lookin . next 440 - although the 440 would have no water passages to worry about , the two center bolt holes were pretty close and the ports were very close in size ( about the same height but a little wider ) the port spread was about 5/8 inch per side difference and i would think that that would create a lazy "s" at the entry to the head and that may not be good for flow obviously . ( although kenne-bell used to sell adapters to mate a 440 intake to a 455 - that was the tunnel ram solution ) . next sb mopar - ports a little shorter but about the same width ( this was with a stock 2bbl 318 intake and 318-360 gasket - the aftermarket intakes may use a closer port size ) . port layout difference was about 1/4 inch per side which looks alot closer than the 440 and the two center bolt holes line up perfect which could possibly come in handy as far as lining things up . with a 3/4 inch rise from the top of the block and an approx 3/4 - 1 inch space between the intake and head the sbm port floor and roof angles did not seem too bad . like the sbc the sbm intake uses a water port in the front of the manifold that is not even close to the sbb . i'm thinking about two different manifolds - summits new sbm stage#3 air gap dual plane ( $180 - and most likely patterned after the newish edelbrock dual plane air gap ) or one of the edelbrock victor style manifolds ( $250-$300 ) , also peeked at a weiand dual quad tunnel ram - ( $350 ) . any of which would allow you to trim the front and rear of the manifold easily ( sorta ? ) and just use the four center mounting bolt locations on each side . a lower plate would cover the "valley" and be welded to the adapter after careful measurements and trial fits per application . possibly being precut in later variations (?) to be close enough to not need much trimming etc before welding. i hope that the thickness of the adapter would allow a right angle to be machined to allow a fitting to come out of the front of the adapter for water crossover . or possibly leave enough material on the intake and just machine an opening to corespond to the water passage opening in the head ? also it seems that if that works for the front of the manifold adapter then it seems as though it would work for the rear of the adapter also and allow a water crossover in the rear of the motor . benefitial for cooling ? i know i've seen some small block chevy dirt manifolds with that done . maybe the excessive rise you would need for the sbc intake would allow more room for the water "fitting" / port ? hood clearance will be a problem perhaps . then we can complain that there are too few fiberglass hood options for buicks ! thats where i'm at so far . del

The Pontiac V8 tomohawk intake is closer to fitting then the SBM or SBC. Find a pontiac intake and check that out. It is a big ball of wax to build/customize an intake.

You may be best to get Greg Gessler to port a TA intake or even a stock intake. I think the reason Bill Mah used the stock intake ported out was becuase it has better fuell distribution than the ta peice.

Greg Gessler supplied a template for Bill M's stock intake to be ported to acordingly. Call Greg and get his input.

Or just save your change for a $3000 Hogan dual 4 bb carb, but then you'd need the custom crank and rods to complete the 3000-8000 rpm combo hmmmmm.

We know there is interest in the 350 Buick. The big problem is the cost to produce a head vs how many will get sold. DO a sb chevy head and sell 10's of thousannds of them . do a sbBuick head and sell maybe a hundred sets in the beginning . does'nt even cover the tooling costs. Believe me, I want to see these things come out too. It 's all a matter of dollars. Need to find a way to bank roll the project at first. Jim Burek
