The Pontiac V8 tomohawk intake is closer to fitting then the SBM or SBC.

The intake fits except on the pontiac the pasenger head is forward of the drivers head. Just the opiset of what we need.

Didn't GSJohnny section and glue together a Mopar Small Block single plane intake and make it work?

Yes he fed a Buick 350 with ported heads, with a pre magnum SBM intake and weeks of machining. I hope he welds that intake together soon, and starts Johnny SBB single plane intake production!

If you turn it around it is still the same.

    how about up side down.

I wouldn't think that tooling would be such a problem? Aren't most of Mr. Edelbrock's done on a C&C Machine? There for I would think it's more of a problem of someone figureing the program to inter into the machine to make the tool make the head?:Comp: :puzzled: Don't most aluminium heads nowdays come from one solid chunk?(Intake? I would rather have a Dual Plane):TU:

i think if you got a sbb with alum heads in the engine master challange it would move as long as it made some big hp

rethink . maybe the sbc intake will work a little better . ? . have a few sbc intakes upstairs in barn and grabbed a torker II and a weiand #7546 ( similar to a torker - pretty straight shot to heads ) . even though the center bolt hole location , that i was so fond of on the sbm , is not even close the ports do match up SLIGHTLY better left/right . plus the extra height needed could make the water port situation easier to work out and make for a more gentle bend from intake to heads . plus i have about a half dozen cheap swap meet sbc edelbrock intakes to look over , and cutting up one of those makes alot more sense . buy and sell them in the summer and put the $$ into the buick account . the weiand looks pretty cool on the motor . del

what if someone had a s divider and milled the entire divider and cleaned up runners to make a single plane?
anyone try this or even think it?

Ok, Has anyone made the sbm 2 sbb addapter? I have two sbm intakes one is a single plain Holley, and is as shown below. Nowwhat is runing through my pea brain is, If the early Land Rover V-8s are based on the Buick 350 will the heads interchange? (are they aluminum?) :idea2:

hey 78 : couldn't get pic #2 to come up , no biggie . the sbm intake i have is just an oem cast 318 2bbl and i think the 340 / aftermarket intakes have bigger / taller ports . could you post a pic with the intake flipped around to show the port size and maybe list a couple dimensions . thanks . no rush . del

Youd need to cut it up, machine it and weld it back together and also use wedge adadpter plates. All the pics are in Johnnys thread at BPG.

The other SBB use a different valve arangement so no chance there.

The intake port is 7/8 inch wide x 1 7/8 inch tall.Outer ports are 2 1/8 from center of center bolts. The water outlet is 5 7/8 to 7 inch from center of front center bolt hole.water outlet is 7/8 x 1 1/8 for passengers side. I'll try to get some better pics of both intakes some time this week

Are you saying the Landrover motors are based on the Nailhead? Or is it based on the sbb 350 block?

The landrover motors are based on the 215 Buick while the 350 has a different top end arrangement which means no swapping between top end components on any other Buick motors onto the 350.

Another market for aluminum 350 heads is the British V8 contingent, particularly MGB-V8's and 2wd vehicles using the Rover V8. The MGB converters have developed commercially available headers for the 215, SBF, Chev 60* V6, and are working on the SBC so it would not be a surprise to see them make a set for the SBB 350 if aluminum heads were available as otherwise the engine is known to fit. This market might be large enough to put someone like TA over the top in terms of the numbers needed to cast the heads.

It's a worldwide market, and the number of vehicles using Rover V8's is absolutely huge. Much larger than the number with Buick V6's I would think.
