Interesting point. When I had long hair in the 70s I would go with my wife to a nice restaurant and they would say no tables available and I would think it was due to my long hair but who knows maybe the tables were reserved for some reason. (many tables free)

Certain people at work go right to the EEO office if they don't get a promotion but maybe they don't deserve it.....

I once hired a minority person and I was a GS12 (government) and they were hired as a GS7. They got promoted right past me and when they didn't get their GS13 right away they filed a discrimination case. Took me 10 years to go from GS12 to 13.

Sorry, but you're way off - this wasn't just "bad customer service." It was an unwarranted blow-off. Imagine that - a dumb white lady using bigotry against another white guy!

Funny thing is that my dad didn't make a fuss out of it. When I heard the story from his gf, I was seething.

I'm sorry if his experience doesn't match your script. You can continue to believe these things don't happen, but when it happens to you or those close to you, you start seeing things differently.

First off, I hope that this will not offend you.
You were not there, and much like text or forum posts, it is hard to determine the tone of the individuals voice when not a first hand witness.
Second, the only way to combat the dislike, hatred, social abnormalities or police injustice is to educate. Educate ones self, others and research why. My melanin levels don't matter when I put on a uniform, but I am disliked cause I catch people doing bad things. Yet a fireman is well respected cause of the public perception they always are saving lives. Most people don't realize that the other uniform is many times on location first and giving aid. Doesn't matter, cause that is not how the public perceives the truth. Its part of Human Physiology that we don't like to get caught. Everyday people get butt hurt because of someones ignorance in certain matters. It has been my experience to have found others lacking understanding in religious beliefs and making judgement based on visual references. I explain the difference and we all move on.

You stated above, dumb lady. People have the right to blow off others, just as you have the right to not like certain cars. If its poor customer service it will be felt in the bottom line. Maybe she was abused by someone that had the same reflection in their voice. Maybe he just walked in. TOO MANY MAYBEs. Leave it at that, teach others and know there will always be people of intellectual challenge or that genuinely don't like the way a person speaks, looks, attitude or projects themselves.

But getting back to the OP of the 2 slain in Blue, another was killed the following day in Florida and yet another was seriously injured in his personal vehicle out of uniform in Ca. We are a target emphasized be the media. Try to remember their souls, what they stood for and that someone has to stand and intercept the darkest evil in physical form and the innocence of those around us. To those who gave their lives, May the Lord or Deity take them in. To those of us here, Happy Holidays.

The problem is not race, racism, underprivileged or uneducated. The problem is right and wrong are no longer separated by a decisive line.

And as a result we have loads of incompetent unqualified people in important positions making critical decisions who were hired because of their race, gender, ethnicity, sexual preferences etc etc ad nauseum, instead of merit, qualifications and ability. This explains the demise of our once great nation. There is a minimum number of competent people needed to sustain civilization and law and order. Once we fall below that number, chaos ensues and we are reduced to a third world country.

These things do happen but your conclusion is utterly baseless in this case. Your own prejudice and hatred against 'dumb white ladies' is emotionally fueling your conclusion in the absence of rationale. The only racism in this case is your own. Think about it.

Thank You. The gal should have listened to her dad. She could not have been too bright to stay with a fruitloop. Firing squads need to be reinstated.

Long hair was mentioned as a reason for discrimination. As a former "longhair" (now a nohair), I completely understand. I'm just grateful to my cousins (both cops) for inviting me, and several other cousins, into the martial arts world. When I became a business owner, I refused to discriminate.

Nope, and I do appreciate that.

Sure, but my dad and his girlfriend were there. As I tried to spell it out with choice, deliberate words in my original post, you should be able to see she was curt. It's not about being unhelpful - it went way beyond that.

Now it's my turn to preface this by saying I hope this is not offensive:

The reason why some people hate cops indeed is because they got caught, but a lot of folks in law enforcement have a sense of entitlement and think they're above the law. Then there's the fabled "blue veil of silence" which acts in the interest of maintaining an institution rather than promoting justice. Plus, the police have traditionally been a vehicle to promote an agenda by those in power.

So I completely understand why people have issues with the police. Sometimes it's illogical, but sometimes perfect logic is involved.

And this is coming from a guy who wanted to be a cop when I was a kid.

    *From Gary*
So let me get this straight: I get first-hand accounts from two individuals, but someone from Cyberspace is here to tell me that the conclusion that they arrived at is baseless?

Please don't tell me I'm the one with the prejudice. No wonder people are marching.

I read this thread. I've read a bunch of posts from written by a group of fairly well off middle aged white guys who seem to be out of touch with reality. Go figure a bunch of rich white guys are trying to figure out what/why/who is to blame to a social issue that most have no first hand experience with.

I believe the phrase is- A wise man knows nothing, a fool knows everything- just ask him..

    what a worthless thread..

Just because we have a little extra money to spend on a cool car doesn't mean we're rich. I know I'm not. How do you know we're all white? What do you hope to accomplish by criticizing everyone-on Christmas Eve no less? Go have a couple of beers, relax, and have a Merry Christmas tomorrow....

This is probably the most sensible post in this whole thread. Anyone who thinks inner city folks and minorities get a fair shake, head into the city and observe what you see..

Take a look at the signatures in these threads. I don't think many struggling members of society have a handful of muscle cars, or even one.

/\/\/\ You may be able to tell where some of us are now, but you have no clue as to how we all got there. Trust me, I'll bet I'm not the only one here who has struggled often and long to get where I am. And, No, I'm not wealthy.

Diego, you seem like a decent guy. what I am curious about is why you carry this torch for so long. It was one incident. Are you certain it was a white lady on the phone? Are you certain there were no other circumstances that you do not know about, maybe she just got a reaming from her boss, or some other thing that made her so short on the phone? You were actually able to get inside her head and determine it was racism? Really? Dude, stuff like that happens all the time to folks of all colors. I'm just an ordinary white guy but similar situations have happened to me, only difference is I don't have a race card to pull. You've taken this one incident so personal that it obviously rules you life. Not everyone is out to get you, some people are just plain jerks.

I got a totally unjustified reaming from an obviously hormonally imbalance woman once, she went on for 20 minutes cause she didn't like my tone. What she didn't know was I was leaning on my chest under the hood of a pickup truck, balancing so I could reach the back spark plugs, and consequently could not breath, so my reply came out in a grunt.

    Just sayin

Not sure why you think I'm carrying a torch, especially something that happened maybe 3 years ago.

Not sure why it's so hard for folks to believe either. Rather than fight what I am saying, why not try to promote harmony in one's daily life?
