Supercharger on 455

    I finally got the videos to work. I just had to download a new version of windows media player. The race video of Rich and the Shelby was fun to watch.

    Called Mike T at XSPerformance to talk about getting a supercharger kit, I've decided to get one!! I'll post some before and after pics when I receive it. Rich and Mike have been really helpful, thanks guys.........Rick

    Well Guys,

    You'll never guess what I found today!!!!!

    I can't believe I over looked this, but as you all recall, I had my intake trimed so the D1's carb hat would fit. Well after doing that, I never checked to see if I was getting full throttle :rolleyes:

    I just checked it last night with a buddy, and I was only getting 5/8's worth of the throttle. The secondaries were just barly cracking open. It's hard to believe the car went 12.41 at almost 113mph at a little over 1/2 throttle!!!

    Well..... It's now getting FULL throttle, and I'm getting 7psi in the heat instead of 5psi. I was also able to jet it down a bit. The Results on the butt dyno is :TU: :TU: :TU:

    I still can't believe I over looked it, but I did :spank:

    If all goes well, I'll have some updated times in a couple of weeks. I'm pretty sure 11's are in my future, at 5000ft and in 94 + degree weather!

    That's too funny Phil.

    As for figuring it out, that's still being worked on :) . Since I had been tuning it this whole time NOT getting full throttle, that pretty much shoots all the time down the drain. I'm basically almost back to square one :Dou: I do feel it's pretty close tho...... I'm more than sure They will be kicking me off the track for not having a cage this time around. Time will tell :Brow:

    In the mean time I feel some G-tech time coming. I'll bet you will be running alot faster. Good luck! Don't let it get away from you.

    Hey Carl,

    Can you say pro stock style second gear burnouts :Brow:

    I'll see what I can do about getting a Gtech run on it before hitting the track.

    I haven't tried 3rd with the nitto's :Do No:

    I'm not exactly sure how the 700r4 would like it either :eek2: If I get pretty adventurous, I may give it a shot. The way it was bouncing off the rev limiter in second at about 10mph, I really don't think 3rd is too far out of the question :)

    I sure hope Kerry's stuff turns up and they catch the guys the responsible for taking it.

    I took a look at the intake, and I don't think it's Kerrys. From what I remember, his intake had extensive porting done. This guys claiming it's not ported at all. It's also a Dominator intake where Kerry's was a Holley flange..........

    I looked on high tech for old iron, It's not his. The one on ebay is a peice of junk compared to Kerry's, but I'm sure Kerry's stuff will surface eventually. Chris

    Update.

    Well Guys,

    The tunning is getting closer and closer. Just as ATI told me, the closer you get your tune, the more boost the charger will make. Rich and Lean conditions restrick the amount of boost you get (I'm not sure how, but I've seen it first hand now).

    Last night, the wife and I were out in the car. It was late 11pm or so, and the roads were pretty empty. It was the perfect time to lay into and watch the gauges. I matted it around 2500 in 2nd gear, and got an instant 7psi. Buy the time it shifted I had 10psi :eek2: :eek2: :eek2: :eek2: Needless to say, I got out of it. Man it was running hard!!!!!!

    7 to 10 psi is too much for my 10 to 1 motor (especally with no girdle and stock rods with ARP's) I'll be contacting Procharger tomorrow for yet another pulley (this will make the 4th one). Hopefully this is the last pulley of my tunning soga. It's all starting to come together good now......... It should be just a few more weeks of little tweaks here and there she should be good to go.

    I'm shooting for the track again on Friday....... I'll post some updated times on Sat.

    Called ATI today, and their sending me a 400 pulley to replace my 385. I'm hopeing this will give me about 5.5 instant and topout at about 7.5 or 8 at about 5700. Time will tell.

    I've also been moding my 700r4. Hopefully it will shift now when I tell it to under WOT from 2nd to 3rd gear. If this doesn't work, I'll be converting the valve body to manual (it cost about 90 bucks).... Hopefully I don't have to, I like to drive around town not shifting. It is a luxery I'll kill to make the car consitant tho :)

    We'll..... I'm heading up to the track tonight. I'm not sure what it will turn as I haven't had a chance to G-tech it. I have the new 400 pulley on, and it's giving me 6psi instant and 8psi on the big end.

    The tranny on the other hand is still acting up on it's 2 - 3 shift. I'll still have to get out of it at the top of sencond, let it shift and get back into it. I'm sure it's killing me atleast 1.5 tenths.........

    I'll post an update as to how it went late tonight or in the morning.
