I'll tell the story as it goes  . I've really decided, the blower is the only way to go especally in "High Altitude" locations. I couldn't imagine what this blower would add to a car at sea level :eek2:

I really have to give a BIG thanks to my Buddy Chad. He's really helped on the tuning side and know's his stuff well. He's also been the second set of eys for watching gauges so I can keep it out of ditches

    Anyhow...... More to come.

This is the best one for the money I could find. It's 350.00 built and shipped complete minus the O2 sensor.

Alot of boosted F-bodies are running the setup and have nothing but good to say about them.

Rich, you got that right. High altitude is hard to make things run strong, and the blower helps make up for some of the lack of air. Your project seems to be coming along just fine there.
The one advantage to the higher altitude and the blower is that you will have far less strain on the engine since it is already starting out way down on power due to the altitude. Jim Burek

Getting ready to head off to the track...... I'm not expecting the best. The temp is 103 and should only fall to around 92 or so by the time I come home (midnight).

I'll let you guys know what I end up running in the heat.

Well..... Not a very good night guys........ For starters, when I got there and got in the staging lanes, I noticed the fuel pump was dumping fuel :eek2: . One of the stainless braided line fittings had worked it's self loose. I sinched it down as was back in bisness.

The Track Temp was at 95 degress until midnight :( It was very traction limited..... WAY worse than what I had been getting on the street :af: . The best run of the night was a 12.4 at 113mph at 5psi. 60ft was a 2.02 (very nasty) The track wasn't biting at all.

The good news is the G-tech was spot on up to and 18th mile. The 60ft times were accurat to the .01 mark every time. The 1/4 ET was off 2 tenths every time to the slow side. that bassically means durning my tunning on cooler days with better 60ft times I would have been in the 11.9's to 12.10's with the 1.9 60ft times it was showing.

    The heat was brutal.

I wouldn't complain to much Rich, with all the bad things working against your favor: HIGH altitude, HIGH heat, heavy weight, and traction limited.

Come over here to the Coast in the nice thick, cool air and bolt on a pair of slicks. Something tells me you would have a huge  from ear to ear!! Its WAAY too hot over there right now!!

Do you have any major suspension work done? Beefed up upper/lower rear control arms, springs, shocks, sway bars, air bags, altered pinion angle??

I hope your driveline/rearend/rear suspension is up to all of this added power when you do HOOK-UP!!:jd:

I still say RIGHT- ON Rich!! Congrats!!:beer :beer

Well.... to answer your questions about the rear, the only think left stock are the factory boxed control arms. They even have urithane bushings in them. I have adjustable upers, No Hop bars, Airbags, Kby shocks, and hotkis springs. The pinon angle is sitting at -3 degrees.

The track was just pain GREASY!. The car has pulled .15 better sixty foots on the street consitanly. I know this from practicing with the new G-tech which by the way is spot on 60ft wise up to .01 (very impressive).

Man.... It's been HOT here. I'm not sure if the car will go back to the track this summer or not. Now that I kow where the G-tech stands, I'll be comfortable quoting the numbers from it.

Next track date will be at the BPG meet in Vegas........... I'm sure they will tell me I need a cage there :Brow:

I'm not racing at all right now for that very reason. It is in the triple digits every day here. I'm waiting for September to start back up. Those have to be very inaccurate times for that car because of the heat.:stmad:

I would love to use one of these superchargers. I was wondering what you would need if you were to run 10-15psi. Would you need a stronger crankshaft, connecting rods, ect? I haven't seen any aftermarket crankshafts so I would assume a stock one is pretty durable. Would forged connecting rods be good enough or would you want billet steel rods?

I'm a newb when it comes to forced induction on older cars. I know that those mods are needed on new cars to get higher boost.

    Thanks in advance.

    HI Charlie,

For starters, you would wan't about an 8.5 to 1 compression ratio. That would allow you to run boost in the 10 psi range. With an intercooler, you could push it up to high teens on pump gas.

As for the Crank and Rods, you would need a Block Girdle and some good aftermarket conecting rods. You would also want forged pistions for sure at that boost level. Other that that, you should be good to go for the most part.

Since a lower compression ratio is better with the blower wouldn't a '76 455 be a pretty good block to start with? 7.9:1 compression is a little too low but I'm sure you could bump it up with either milling or custom pistons. I was thinking I could put Stage I valves in the '76 heads and save me some money and not even be skimping. I'm not a car wizz or anything so I am probably missing something.

A 76 short block would be a good canadate for boost (with the excetion of it's cast pistons). With the stock Cast Pistons, I don't think you would want to throw anymore than 8 psi at it.

As for the block, the 76 block is the same deck hight as the early models. the pistions are just dished more. The 76 block is supposed to have a better casting than earlier models tho making the block a bit stronger.

I'd say if you could find a 73 to 76 motor that ran really good, slap the blower setup on it and run it as is. at 8 psi, you would pickup about 50 to 60% in power. You could then find a builder motor to begin building as you found time and money.

I figured I'd post this over here as well for those watching this tread.

Here's a video of the car at the track the other night. While the car didn't run that great because of the heat and a track that wasn't prepped, it was still fun beating a 120,000 alum bodied Cobra with a 427 side oiler in it.

I haven't touched the car since the drags......... I'm waiting for the temps to cool off a bit before any more tunning / testing takes place.

Hey Rich, I'm also interested in putting a supercharger on my 455 but I would like to talk to you over the phone about it. If it's not asking to much, could you please email me your phone number. Do you also have a phone number that I can get ahold of Mike to talk to him about the kit..........my email is rpkzm@adelphia.net ...........thanks, Rick
