I don't believe so since the entire intake is under the same amount of boost at all times. it's going to force (so it seems) as much air and fuel in eachone rather it be #8 or #1. I've looked at the plugs from what I ran it, and they look nice and even :TU:

Very exciting project sir. As much fun as my turbo Buick V6 is, I can only imagine how much fun a forced induction Buick V8 will be. Can't wait to see some times.:beer

The seats will probably need replaced after he gets into it. There will be more force holding his butt to the seat than going through the engine.

Okay, now tell us how bad this is going to hurt our wallets

Dont get me wrong, this is one of the coolest things I seen happen to Buick since the new block, but it doesnt do me any good if I cant drop one in my car! <grin>
Before I go any further--- this is TOO sweet... I dont know whats better the excellent look of underneath the hood or the AWESOME improvement in power... Can you say BYE BYE to the competition?
Seriously, has there been any speculation on what this kit will cost? This is the same kit thats been in the works for a year now, isnt it? Any info on price and availability would be MUCH appreciated.

Yes, this is the same kit that has been in the works for about a year now. It should be readily availible SOON. It should be listed on his "nonexisting" site xsperformance.net.

As for the Price, I'm really not sure. Your best bet would be to contact Mike at " xsperformance@iwon.com ". He may have the price narrowed down by now. There's alot of variables right now such as how much the brackets and adaptors are going to cost. Once all this is known, a hard price will be able to be posted.

PS.... Thanks for all the coments on the charger install.... I think it's pretty cool to..... WELL worth the wait!

Rich, you HAVE to get some video of that thing running around, love to hear it run. Also curious about tuning issues, problems, etc. This is some wild stuff for sure, whats next , fuel injection???LOL Hot Rod actually had an article about modding carsb to flow only air, then hiding the direct port fuel injection system for the old cars, was a pretty neat article actually for those guys. I will save it for ya...:Brow: :Brow:

getting to be some neat stuff out there for our cars, who would have thought a blown 455 in kit form, that is nuts. New blocks, heads, all kinds of good stuff. now if we could just get some sheetmetal and grilles!!!

Do you have a video camera??

Hey Tim, That does sound like a cool write up. Injection would be very nice, especaily with the blower  . I just don't think it will happen for me anytime soon. I think the carb thing is going to work out great anyhow.

I do have a video camera. Once it's on the tuned side, I'll take some in car footage as well as some track / drive by footage. :pp

Pulley should be here today. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to get some seat time in the GS :beer

    Cam

    Rich,

Maybe you have already told us this but what cam are you running?

  10. Nitro71455

    Nitro71455 Procharged 455 boost baby

    David,

The cam is a Crower cam. It's the only cam I've run since the car was finished (4 years ago). While it's probably not the best cam for a blower, I had no idea the car would have a blower on it back then. I don't plain on changing the cam either. I'm just going to run as is until I can get a "new" block and then build a blower motor. Specs are as follows..

    Gind # 284HPD
    INT Dur 284
    Exh Dur 290
    INT Lift .520
    Exh Lift .522
    (with 1.60 rockers)
    112 degree lobe separaton.

Probably not the best cam, but atleast it does favor the exhaust a bit anyway.

I just got the larger pulley from ATI. It's installed and ready for test's latter tonight.

The 4 inch hump boots are also here. I should beable to have the cold air intake fabed up this weekend. :TU:

So when will you be able to take it to the track?

  13. Nitro71455

    Nitro71455 Procharged 455 boost baby

The first track date will be the 18th. It will be close to that before I feel it will be tuned enough to say into it through the gears. If tuning goes well, I may be able to sneek a G-Tech time in. We'll just have to see how it goes and what this pulley did boost wise for the car.

    Well............

I got the new pulley on yesterday "370" (the old one was a "340"). I went out to test it at night this time. The temps were about 15 degrees cooler, plus, I didn't have the sun beating on my Black GS. This time it pulled 9 to 10 psi :eek2: :eek2: with no pinging at all.

Looks like I'll be swaping another pulley :). Hopefully the third one is the charm.

A small Web page is up on the charger systems. It includes a Price for the starter kit as well.............

    http://xsperformance.net

    Check it out :)

As for tunning my car, The cold air intake is built. I'll have to get the larger pulley before testing continues. (don't want to kill it before the fun begins  ).

    Oh... come on..

What's the worst thing that could happen...:pp

oh yeah... driving over the crank....

Better Get a BIG pulley, and slow that thing down.. until there is a bottom end under it..

Alumium block shipping to Utah from Scottsdale should be cheap!

But then again, that's overkill.. a good stock block race motor assembly will be just fine to 650 HP, which will be plenty enough to put little brown spots on the driver seat... in a street car..

The right '76 block, with a girdle and billet caps, and a bit of concrete should hold up just fine, and will be waaaaay cheaper than any new block..

That block assembly will cost you right around 2 G, ready to put the parts in it.. machined and ready to go.

My advice to you would be to not go nuts building an 800 Hp blower motor, as all your going to do is twist the car into a pretzel.

Make sure you consider the complete package, before you spend big bucks building a killer blower motor, and then spend another 2 years finding all the weak points in the car..

    Just some thoughts..

And a good thought it is. Trust me, I've thought abotu that for the past year waiting for this carger to happen.

The down fall is the motor I have is very good with out even 20k on it. I figure once it dies or when I get some extra funds, I'll pop for one of the new blocks and put the charger to work making atleast 800 horse's on pump gas  I'll then have a good platform to build on for years to come also. It may be more expensive in the long run, but I think it will be money better spent.

I'm just curious as to why you decided to go with an alky sytem over a conventional intercooler. I know that there are some benefits, I'm just curious as to what made you choose the alky. Do you know if the intercooled kits are available yet, or how Mike is planning on plumbing them ?

Oh, and are you going to update your sig to let everyone know that BOTH of your buicks are suprecharged ?
