    We'll........

I didn't get to run. The track was having a "Street" event tonight that went until 2am. I figured I'd get there around 10ish and beat the heat and the crowds.......... We'll I got there about 10:20, and they wouldn't let me race. "We're not teching any more cars" "our tech guys went home". What BS. I drove the car up there 50 miles, and had to drive it back home.

All is not lost tho. I did make a G-Tech run on my way back home at my safe little spot :Brow: . The G-Tech showed 11.94 at 117mph with a 1.96 60ft time. Now if this run is the same as the ones I checked the G-Tech with at the track, it would have been a 11.7 run with the track timing system. It's always been .2 on the slow side. The MPH and 60ft have been pretty much spot on. I just wish I had a liget time slip to back it up

That's all the playing for now. Starting tomorrow, the motor is coming out in prep for a new Stef's alum pan, and a Halo girdle. The 700R4 is also going to get a new Hardend shaft and Drum that with all the other hard parts I have sould make it good for the plus side of 600ft lbs.

Anway, with the way this things running, I just don't feel good about not having any hardblock, or some type of girdle. The Halo should allow the motor to live a longer life :) See you guys in Vegas :TU:

    Oh yeah.... one more thing..........

They would have just kicked me out of the track anyway for running faster than 11.99 with no cage :beer

    Rich,

Let me get this straight, your at 5000 feet above sea level with only 8 psi of boost and your car is running in the 11's. That is really great! I'm at 2500 which means It should be easier for me to get into the 11's also.
I just hope Mike sends me the right pulley for my combo that will let me make under 10 psi of boost right from the start instead of having to wait weeks longer on different pulley swaps!

Alan, where in NC do you live? I'll be at the BOP nationals in Bristol Tenn. this September. You need to bring your car down, it's alot of fun.........Rick

    Hey Rick,

    Yeah..... that's right :)

One thing you will want to keep in mind......... 8lbs of boost is 8lbs of boost, no matter what elevation your at. So my car here running 8psi would run pretty much the same at sea level at 8psi. That's the beauty of BOOST.

On thing your lower elevation will do, it make your charger so it doesn't have to work quite as hard. For instance, If I went down to 2500 ft with the 400 pulley that I have, chances are, I'd have around 10psi on the big end since there is more air for the charger to push.

As far as recomending what pulley you would need, That's a tough call. If you were getting the D1 like mine, I'd say go with the next largest pulley over the 400. Since it's a P1 and it doesn't quite put out the volume as mine, you may want to start at the 400 or a step smaller and go from there. Your heads and cam will also make the boost levels very a bit also......... So will the TUNE. As you get it dialed in, your boost level will increase. Rich and lean contions kill the chargers boost levels..... this is all stuff you want to keep in mind. If you first try the charger and your only getting 5psi, play wth your tune a bunch and see what you can get the boost level up too.

    Most of all.... enjoy it!!!!!!!

I really think it's the most bang for the buck us Buick guys have right now!

I'm planning to go, and I'd like to take my car, but the constant knock knock knock has me worried a little! I won't have the other engine together by then, either. :ball:

I'm about an hour east of Raleigh.

    Hey Alan,
I was really hopping to see your twin turbo skylark in person. The word KNOCK is not one of my favorite words!
I hope all I hear after racing around with my new supercharger installed is that sweet whining under tone!
    Keep me informed.......Rick

771 lbs of torque to wheels

I posted a vortech supercharger closure installation sometime ago on this site and thought I would inform you on the performance numbers on the chassis dyno. At 3248 rpm and at 4.4 lbs of boost the car put down 771lbs of torque. The car had to be shut down because of an oil leak at 4500 rpm, but the car was still in excess of 600 lbs of torque at 5.1 lbs of boost and 503 horsepower and climbing.

I think I just soiled myself in about three different manners simultaneously. I'm not going to comment any further, because those numbers speak for themselves.

With those low boost levels, I'm guessing your still running pump gas ?

(here's the post, btw vortech 455 install
david, can you elaborate anymore on your combo ?)

    set up for blower

I about soiled myself as well. All we did was purchase the vortech V7-YS trim big block chevy kit and adapt it to fit. The biggest problem we ran into was machining a piece between the balancer and the vortech supplied ten rib crank pulley. We then used the stock mounting bracket for the blower and made an adapter plate from the chevy pattern to the buick pattern. Alignment was very critical. The motor itself is almost six years old. It is a Gessler level four headed 9.76 to 1 compression motor with a TA single plane intake and 850 holley. It has the Art Carr 10" converter, 3.73 gears and a gear vendors overdrive. I took it to the local dragstrip and fried 12.50 wide ET streets well past the 330 marker and I hit the limiter multiple times. Limiter is set at 6300. I normally shift at 5800 rpm. I have MSD boost timing master taking 2 degrees of timing out per pound of boost. Total timing before msd comes in is 32 degrees. Even without traction and hitting the limiter a few times and letting off the gas, it still ran in the 122 mph. The car is probably very capable of running 130 mph if it could hook and again this is only five pounds of boost.
