If you have an "in" with Richard and see where we stand. We will have a trophy. We should probably have it be participate voting or see if someone will Judge the cars. Or we might just have to have a display only area for the Suncoupe. That way if say I want to have my car judged I go into the 72 GS hardtop class and then take it to the Suncoupe display area. Imagine if we couild get the Toth Buick Suncoupe to attend. Anyway I will assist any way I can to see if we can get more interest for our own class. John
Bad news for me. The engine is coming back out. It is making a rubbing noise in park and nutral, has 0.028 crank end play and getting water in number seven cylinder. Have two months to get it back together.
The proposed SunCoupe reunion is postoned until 2014. This will allow several owners time to complete their cars for the show. This should help us meet our goal of a 10 car minimum display. So now you have an additional year to prepare for the event. Thanks to all who have inquired. Steve
Will take the pressure off me as well. Now I do not have to put a bandaid on this engine to be able to make it. I will take my time on the new engine and can get the top redone.
I posted a craigslist link to a Sun coupe on the cars for sale leads..Its under 72 Skylark, pics look ok for $5500..If anyone is looking..The car is yellow and white..:beer
Bump TTT We need to start getting things together for this reunion. What does the attendance possibilities look like as of today? I want to keep this event going. Mike
Have the engine back from the builder. Should be up and going by then with all the bugs worked out. Have a few appearance issues to work on also.
How bout inviting ALL SunCoupes? Just kidding....I think. Here's a Duster version: http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto/4285594084.html And a Jetta Coupe.
...IF ANYONE wants to participate in this SUN COUPE REUNION...and is without a SUN COUPE.... no worries. It is quite unfortunate but looks like I will be listing mine soon... Details coming. The WHITE Sun Coupe in an older photo: Wheelz, Tampa Bay
sorry to hear Wheelz you still have other Buicks right!? and I've been seriously thinking about converting my Hardtop to a suncoupe. How hard would this conversion be with or w/o a donor roof? Theres always one(roof) on ebay that never seems to sell
It would be near impossiable to do without a donor roof. If you were see the under side of the roof without the head liner, you will see all the extra bracing needed to support the roof with the hole in it. I have a roof cut off a suncoupe here in my garage and just sold all my suncoupe parts to John kemper (also on this board) if you need the other parts.
ok, I think theres one in a local junkyard too. next time I go upp i'll look under the roof and see what youre talking about I figure I never seen a suncoupe in person, and that it'll also go well with a pro-tour style setup may as well be different/less common has anyone ever thought about making like an actual removable metal roof square like the old 1st gen Rx7 you can either rock it like a sunroof with or w/o glass out or install the metal roof backin to be a hardtop again kinda like a supra targa top..but obviously same dimensions of suncoupe hole
If you go look at the one in the junk yard, get the VIN. One of the board members has a Suncoupe registry that would appreciate that info.
... I have a SunCoupe AND..a fairly complete EXTRA Sun Coupe TOP as well... in case anyone is interested... Wheelz, Tampa Bay
What is the word on the reunion? Are we able to get enough cars to do this? Let me know if I can help any way, I will. Mike
