Thanks Mike... I actually had you counted in my head to be going. I believe you have been there every year that I have been. Thanks Jerry, you snuck in while typing this up. An additional note. The tote board is great to understand who would like to see us where. What is most important is which Suncoupe owners are willing to guarantee to be somewhere. I am sure that many of you understand people will say that they will go, and not show up. I would really like to see this happen and have a reason for some attention. Our cars are quite rare and being able to put together 8, 10, 12 or more cars would be so awesome. Steve has been very helpful by providing me a rather nice package of information when I registered in his Suncoupe registry. That was great of him to send out post cards also. I know of a Suncoupe owner in NY that I will contact as well to get him there. 2 years ago, when at the Nationals, I thought this would be a great place to have a group of Suncoupes all together. Having seen John Harden and Mike Evans with theirs at the event. But I fell into a misfortunate event that took the next 1 1/2 years of my life to bring back my Suncoupe. This year when meeting Steve in person, I mentioned this idea to him. He seemed to have already had an idea of doing this and got this ball rolling. I want to help him organize this event to be a successful gathering of such an awesome car ! Mike
Dean, I WILL be at BG no matter what. Thanks for your help to structure a way to see the best turn out. The table should be for Suncoupe owners, is what I was referring to also. I look forward to see everyone at an event. Mike
Roberta was speaking for "Riviera" Bob Stemme who also has a SunCoupe. Dean and Michael please PM me your email and phone #'s. Dick and Betty Taft are the couple that voted for Norwalk. Jim, Thanks for your help.
I just set my vacation for next year so mark me down for BG I am off 16 thru 20. Lets hope it stay's there. Other venues are still a possibility for me, as somehow I am off for Norwalk and BPG but the Norwalk is the week of our 33rd anniversary. I wonder if the wife will want to go to Ohio for that week ( not likely). Also everything depends on if the cars ready and I can afford gas uzzled:
Looking pretty good, but I hope to have more there to be lined up together. John, will you only bring the Stage1 if it is done? I would really like to see you bring both cars if at all possible. I know gas may be a problem, but think of the value to have every possible car there. I am going to try to contact the Army guy in Savannah. I know he is overseas right now, but hope he will be back by then. He can caravan with Jim Rodgers and myself if he is interested. I have heard that there is a Suncoupe in Jacksonville, FL. I will try to find that car and owner and invite them also. I know of another Suncoupe in NY, where I used to live. I will contact him to try to get him there. Does anyone know who purchased John Harden's car? Can we try to ensure they know about this event and invite them? I would love to get 12 to 15 cars lined up. It will take some work to find the cars and willingness to go to the event. But it sure would be awesome ! ! ! Mike
Does anyone have a GS Nats program from the late 80s/early 90s that had my red SunCoupe on the cover pulling one tire pretty hard? If so, maybe scan it..... The car is still together with the same motor (70 455, NEVER rebuilt, 2000+ passes), original trans(rebuilt 4 times) and the original 2.56 rear. Ran 12.70s at Cecil this fall. Was thinking of driving it to the event with the 2.56s or put the 3.90s back in and tow it. Bruce
Awesome Bruce ! Are you able to commit to any of the published events to put on the tally chart? Would love to have you there in BG. Are you running manifolds or headers? We have a stock appearing class in BG that may be right up your alley if so. It is a great class and a lot of fun to compete in. Hope to see you at the reunion. Mike
I'll check to see if I have that, I have kept all mine since 90 or 91 and if I bring my car Terry will bring her's also.
GREAT John, that is super to hear. Any word from T&N on the status of your car? I am completely baffled at why I did not realize that your car was there when I had my pin striping done. I would have liked to see it. I guess I have to wait until October now, lol. As that famous cable poet says, Get 'er done ! Mike
I'll be at Norwalk and possibly GS Nats Has headers, 2.5 full exhaust, Performer intake, TQ, small valve heads. Years ago with manual steering, more converter, electric water pump it ran 11.66.
Hi all, I live 1 1/2 hrs from Bowling Green, so that is my pick . Hopefully 10 months is enough time for me to to get new fabric for the roof, rebuild or replace tranny, and put the 455 in it(as the original 350 is making bad sounds) Mechanical is all I'm worried about... when I get to the body and paint, I get to it Mike
Awesome Mike, hope to see you there ! Keep us informed of your progress and ask for help if needed to get enough done in time. Mike
