Cops are exempt from the traffic laws and it helps if you have a Motorola radio.

I'm not sure where you got "I'm in high school", I'm 56. I was just relating how the cops here in G'ville are. They do not believe what is good for the goose is good for the gander. They routinely blow red lights at 15-20 mph over the limit or speed well into double digits over the limit because they can. No lights, no siren just flying.

You've missed my point completely so we'll just drop it, we're on different wavelenghts. Cops are judges too! They must be to do the job.

I do enjoy life, great wife, great kids, good job.

I'm just relating how as a commercial driver I have received zero moving violations in 47 continental states over 35 years and 1.5 million miles. Never wrecked a big truck, ever. I know how to drive! Move to Gainesville, Florida and have 4 moving violation in 8 years here but never get any anywhere else. Every ticket here was for absolutely nothing, just some goof living his dream playing policeman! Cops here have a superior, elitist attitude I've never seen anywhere else.

You just keep saying I believe, I believe; cops and judges will always give you justice.

Speeding Ohio cop fired, trooper to be suspended
    By Associated Press

    POSTED: 07:54 a.m. EDT, Aug 25, 2009

COLUMBUS: An Ohio police officer has been fired for off-duty speeding on his motorcycle at nearly 150 mph, but a state trooper ticketed with him keeps his job.

Christopher Thomas learned from a letter Monday that he was being dismissed as an officer for the Columbus suburb of Gahanna. The city's safety director wrote that Thomas was not suited to be a police officer.

State Highway Patrol officials wanted to terminate Trooper Jason Highsmith. Instead, an agreement reached with the State Troopers Association on Monday will suspend him without pay for five days and reassign him.

Thomas and Highsmith both pleaded guilty to speeding for citations they received on Interstate 70 on June 28. Authorities said Thomas was clocked at 149 mph and Highsmith at 147 mph.

    Another trooper ticketed for speeding

    THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
Another State Highway Patrol trooper with the Columbus motorcycle unit has received a speeding ticket while driving off duty, and once more the ticket wasn't issued at the scene of the traffic stop, said patrol spokesman Lt. Tony Bradshaw.

A trooper with the Athens post pulled over Trooper David Mills, 53, at about 7 p.m. Sunday. Radar clocked him driving 97 mph in a 60 mph zone on Rt. 33 in Hocking County.

Bradshaw said it appeared a supervisor was involved in the decision to issue the ticket later that day. An internal investigation into whether the troopers broke any regulations was started Monday.

Mills has been reassigned to the Circleville post until the investigation is finished.

That is quite confusing isn't it? :puzzled:

Anyway, cops often break the rules in their work vehicles. They are exempt (for all intents and purposes) while on duty in their marked vehicles. Who's gonna pull them over? :error:
The other day I had one in front of me. Cruising along he hits the brakes, pulls over off the road and parks in his next spot. Everyone has to jam on their brakes. No, nobody was following too close behind, this guy was just above the law and it was too bad for everyone else.

For the most part though, most of the cops I see drive pretty respectfully.

I was just assuming, since you were in the school parking lot with all of your buddies, and since you were so informed as to the "goings on" in the the high school parking lot, the principal/seatbelt conspiracy, etc. On second thought, nevermind, I don't want to know what you're hanging out at the high school parking lot for, that's your business.

Sounds like something out of a movie! Seriously, do you really think anyone would believe that there is a place left in this country where a cop could get away with that type of behavior without good reason? You sound like a person with a deep dislike for any authority figure. That type of disdain is a common character trait found often in people employed in industries such as truck driving, heavy equipment operation, etc.

No, not judges...witnesses. Witnesses who must use great discretion at times and be able to make split-second life changing decisions with unyielding accuracy. Oh, and did I forget...also must be able to be spit on, name-called, disrespected on a daily basis, blamed for everything, told what worthless pieces of garbage they are, lied to more times in a day than most people are lied to in a year, and all of this while protecting the same person who just did all of the above...and caring so much about other people that he/she would go do it all again five minutes later if it meant saving that same dirtbag's ass, because, no matter what you think, cops don't become cops to drive fast...that is far from the truth my friend.

Some "goof" who's "playing policeman" huh? Boy, you have severe, deep-rooted issues that go way deeper than just being p.o.'d about getting a speeding ticket. Let me give you a hypothetical situation, and quote me when I say, I PRAY this NEVER happens, but for conversations sake...you are eight states away, it's the middle of the night, some freak breaks into your house, takes your wife, or your daughter, and is about to do whatever these sick f#@%$ do, and the guy who happens to be on duty is that same "goof" that is out "playing policeman". He confronts the creep who is in your house and caps him...I hope you remember then the names you called him, and the smack you talked about him, and I hope you think about all of the cops who have responded to the same type of calls and left the scene of the call in a body bag. All because he was trying to help the same guy that just a day before had called him all those names.

I wouldn't call this acting as if he was "above the law", these kinds of things are situations most cops hate too, but they are a necessary part of the job. No one wants to be stuck, sitting in a median like a sitting duck waiting for someone to hit them. Sounds like no one was following too closely, so no one was in any danger, and he was just doing his job. :beers2:

You're right Phil, no one is perfect! Certainly not I. I just like to throw a little "food for thought" at people who seem to be a little "in the dark" about what the job entails, and that's all it is...a job. Let me update my signature though, since it seems to be an issue I was unaware of :Do No: .

"Assumption is the mother of all f*ckups."

Seriously, you need to stop trolling and allow other people to have an opinion without being badgered or psycho-analyzed by you with your grade school psychology.
You seem to believe that cops are incapable of any wrong..........do you seriously believe that?

I've personally had cops steal from me, and even with two witnesses could not get any other officer, or the chief to launch an investigation........of course, short of going to internal affairs.

Just this past summer my girlfriend and I almost got hit by a cop blowing through a redlight, no sirens, no lights, going about 70mph in a 30.
    ........good thing we looked twice.

Years ago, my father and I were sitting at the local elementary school, waiting to pick up my sister, when a cruiser blew by at about 100mph (no exaggeration). Later, when my father called up the police department to find out why he was driving that fast when 7 and 8 year olds were getting out of school, they said that he was responding to a burglar alarm from a house.............which is funny because........

Our house has been broken into twice in the past 5-6 years. Both times we called the cops, and both times they refused to come out to even take a report because we couldn't find anything missing (that we know of).

A few years back my sister and her boyfriend were involved in a minor accident where a drunk tapped the side of their vehicle while he was passing them. He got out, yelled at them (they could then smell the alcohol), got back in his vehicle and took off. They called the cops on their cell, explained the situation, and followed him to get his license plate number. They followed him all the way back to his house, and eventually the cops arrived.
The cops knocked on his door, greeted him, and started joking around with him. They went back to my sister and said that because they left the scene of an accident they could be charged as well, or........they could just drop it. The cops also said that the man wasn't drunk, and they wouldn't let my sister or boyfriend anywhere near him to find out what was going on.
Later, we found out that this man was friends with the cops that showed up.

Sounds like it, doesn't it? But no, it's just the ambiguity of life, just about anything can happen to anyone, anywhere, and by any other person.........even cops. Art imitating life?

You don't get out much, do you?

So what industry do you have to be in to be full of sh*t?
Let me tell you something. I dont' know about the guy you're hassling right now, but I HATE authority. Why? Well, other than being a Libertarian, and knowing that I am capable of self-government, I think that the worst possible trait anyone can possess is wanting the power to rule over someone else.
These cops are not the "law," these cops are not "justice," they are flawed human beings, just like the rest of us. They are capable of good and evil, just like the rest of us. They are not in fallable, and their job title does not shield them from the scrutiny or the questions of the public that they are hired by to serve and protect.

Unfortunately, the police state we have is both flawed and obsolete, and many, not all, but many of the people hired to be police have serious authority issues. Their is a skewed balance when it comes to the rights of the public VS. the rights of the police, and many police take advantage of this. You can deny it all you want, and it will mean little to me. I've seen it first hand, and that is all I need to know.
You are admittedly guilty of the second worst trait I believe someone can possess, and that is the dependence of unearned comfort from someone else. You may believe that you can rest at night, all tucked away in bed, under the watch of some unyielding authority; but when you take your policemen away, what do YOU have? Perhaps nothing? Fear? I don't know, as I can't answer for you, but you seem awfully dependent on strangers with a strange ideal.

Anyway, I'm going to end this here, because I just realized I'm on a car board where we talk about hot rodded BIG BLOCK BUICKS (!!!), not a board where we philosophize about the shortcomings of authoritarian society and the mindless slaves who follow without question.

I noticed you didnot have anything bad to say about the cop who was part of this.:Do No: So the cop can speed up huh? Kinda sounds like he was baited. Betcha he was grinnin' the entire time too....:spank: :moonu:

Oh yes, we have no idea what it is to be a cop. I could not imagine the people you deal with. Let me leave you some "food for thought": You are paid by the public you SERVE!!!! There should be much more psych testing before some fool w/ a complex is let loose on the general population with his side arm. (I won't tell you what mom had to say to a cop when I was a kid about why he had such a big gun strapped to his OUTTER thigh)

I can say the same thing about your attitude. I'm glad you're not by me. I would not put up w/ anything you do that is not S.O.P. INCLUDING going to PIB or whoever keeps an eye on you. (I've always wondered why a cop can't be policed themselves) Must be a cop thing......

If you want to "beat a ticket", do it in court. A cop cites you for anything, take theur butt to court. You can get it stopped by "conflict of interest". Judge (administrator) won't be able to or won't want to continue proceeding. The cop works for "the State". The judge works for "the State". The building the "court" is in is owned by "the State". "The State" is a ficticious corporate entity. Yet the cop and the judge swear a Constitutional Oath of Office. Ask them this when cited and afterwards while standing before the "judge". Ask if you can get a "fair trial". Which of course a judge will say that you get a fair trial in their courtroom. Then ask if you can get a fair trial if there is a "conflict of interest". There is no way that you can truly get a fair trial when all of it is owned and controlled by "the State". It's all biased for "the State". Make sure the trial is being recorded even if you have to pay a certified courtroom recorder. If a judge tries to hit you with "contempt",ask the judge if it is civil contempt or criminal contempt. If civil, tell the judge that you are not aware of any contract between you and him. The court and law is "Contract Law"-Article III of the Constitution. Roosevelt's Supreme Court changed all the law/courts to that in 1938 to coincide with his Bankruptcy Act. If "criminal contempt',ask the judge where the injured party is. Who makes the claim. If the judge responds with "This court" "The State of _______" , it won't fly. Ficticious corporations can't be physically hurt. Only humans can be injured. This is out of the ordinary, but if it works..... And don't try this with a lawyer/attorney. They are an officer of the court.

Oh, I was around long before you piped up. I really hate to contribute to the degeneration of a thread.......so I won't.

However, I will say that your analogy of Chicken Little is completely irrelevant to anything I just said. That childrens story is about people believing everything they hear without sourcing the basis of information.
So, with that said, you either didn't actually read my post.........or you didn't read Chicken Little.

No, it's called pace-clocking...it's a way of determining speed by using your speedometer. Of course, you should know this since you obviously know everything.

I'm glad I'm not by you too...It's enough just reading your posts here. By the way, I've never had so much as a complaint filed against me, so I don't think anyone's much concerned about "keeping an eye on me". :bla: I have fun with my job, I'm nice to people and I love to help people...that's why I do it! There are a lot of people who get up in the morning and dread going to work, not me!

Actually, that's funny, I wasn't thinking of "Chicken Little" at all, I can understand why the confusion though as, without question, most would connect the falling sky with that work of fiction. I guess I should have used a more easily understood comparison, such as "the sun is going to burn out" or "the world is going to blow up"...well, you get the drift. You just kind of remind me of one of those guys with a huge bunker in your back yard, stocked with three years worth of rations and 750,000,000 rounds of ammo.

    Lighten up, Francis!
