The City Council installed speeding cameras in Hebron. The best way to get rid of them is for the organizers of groups that use the National Trail track to write and call the Hebron Chamber of Commerce and tell them them if this is the way is it is going to be they will have to consider making other plans for their respective events. Let the Chamber do the heavy lifting with the City Council. They will get the motels and eating place owners involved. The MOPAR Nationals group has to face the same issue with Hebron this weekend. They are much larger.

Stan, Ohio and NY are compact states, if you get suspended in Ohio for failure to pay, you will be suspended in New York, if you pay it, what happened in Ohio stays in Ohio.

We had this discussion at the track and hotel parking lots....pay the ticket and then complain to the Chamber of Commerce.....if you fight the ticket...you will lose and get points on your license as well as the insurance company getting notification.

Someone local told us that the cameras don't trip until 46 mph. It doesn't matter if you're going 46 or 146...it's the same ticket.

It's a shame you weren't sporting a vintage tag that was not linked in any way to to the car..

It would be fun to ride by in a pickup and moon them.. With no tags showing..

They got me too. 47 in a 35. It was at night, no traffic, and the pictures are very clear and no doubt my truck. They claim to have the video on their website but I have not watched it yet. It only took 7 days to get the ticket in the mail. I doubt there is anything we can do as long as this system generates revenue, but I think complaining to the Chamber of Commerce is a great start.

There is always an ID problem. The charge is against the driver and not the vehicle. The State has the burden of proof on the issue of who was driving the vehicle. An experienced local traffic attorney would know if they are tossing these out in bulk. I heard some locals received a huge number of tickets in the mail. Eventually someone will contest one on the basis of lack of ID of the driver and the whole concept will cause the local DA to start dismissing these.

If I get one of those camera tickets in the mail and it doesn't come certified or by some other official documented means-I AIN'T PAYING IT! They can't do anything about it except send it off to a collections agency. Big deal. The city of Lilburn,Ga. sent one to me by regular mail in a city letterhead envelope over a year ago. I threw it away. They sent a couple more and then I recieved a letter notice from some collection agency in a different state. No problem with my driver license. Traffic control company puts the cameras up. "Violators" get a nice picture taken of their vehicle. City/county sends a "citation" via mail and if someone is dumb enough to pay, they split the money with the traffic control company. Nice racket going on. Where's the law? Apparently, when you get one these "citations",you have no option of going to court about it. They just want you to pay them money. I call it extortion.

Complain to the host hotel and suggest if this is how vistors are going to be treated, the event will have to consider moving to another location. The local hotel will then complain to the Chamber and the City Council. Get the locals who have a revenue interest in keeping events in Hebron do the heavy lifting.

I also heard a rumor that the issue of the cameras is coming up before the City Coincil on a reconsideration vote because of all the complaints. I would find out if this is really the case. If so, the DA may decide to flush a bunch of tickets. So I might hold off paying these off until you investigate this a little more.

They tried photo radar several years ago in Toronto - after a large outcry, project was cancelled, so complaints do work! However, I hear they are thinking about starting it up again. :blast:

Britain has many many traffic violator cameras. The councils there respond to complaints by putting up more cameras. The cameras are being disabled or destroyed by the citizens all the time. Now Britain is a real police state.

You could always appear in court to argue your case and ask where the officer who issued the ticket is...seemed to work for several people who have fought it in Houston before they took the cameras down. I like the collection agency thing. Nobody likes discount speeding tickets like I do. Like Dave Ramsey says, settle it for pennies on the :dollar:

Here is the email address for the

Licking County Visitors and Tourism Bureau
    Heidi Harris - Tourism Coordinator

The Vistors and Tourism Bureau is sympathetic. Two of their staff members received tickets from the same machines. If you send them a copy of you email to the Heath City Council members they will circulate the same to all the restaurants and hotels around Heath/ Hebron.

Here are the addresses for the Heath City Council. The Mayor of the City of Heath, Richard Waugh, is the driving force behind the cameras. He is under a lot of pressure to have these removed.

Can someone post this information on the major MOPAR Boards? The MOPAR Nationals were held at National Trail this weekend and I am sure their tickets will start to role in soon and they will be equally upset about the unfriendly reception at Heath/Hebron intersections by the machines.
