I mis-stated it there, sorry. I should have reserved that term for another board - though the incidents I refered to were here. I should have said a good number of regular posters. No, I didn't count them, but I do miss their input. This was a while ago, when we weren't so big. Also, we have a large membership, but a small number of the users are regulars (no pun intended ) I forget the exact posts (about 3), though I do remember each had been deleted. They all had degraded into racial attacks. One had something to do with road department/government workers or something (an innocent post, actually), and almost instantly degraded to racial slurs. Each incident resulted in the absence of regulars who typically only talked car-talk. If I can resurrect an old hard-drive I can find the link to one of them.
Truzi, I have vague recollections of that, but the details escape me. If you would, please PM me any info you can recover. I don't recall it as you recount it, but it could be my old age... I can say that we DO NOT tolerate any racial slurs/commentary here. But we also would not necessarily see such comments before any damage was done. We just volunteer to spend what time we can reading here and there...
David, I really don't remember many details other than what I stated, except for the fact that I was offended... ... and I'm very difficult to offend. I'm definitely not offended by the types of things most people object too. Not nude pictures, Janet Jackson's breast, off-color jokes, and the like. However, prejudice (and not just racial prejudice) is one thing that really bothers me. Oddly enough, I would rather have a post I can't stand stay on the board than be deleted - I'm weird that way. I'm not criticizing (and hope I'm not coming across that way). Your and the other mods here do a great job. Unfortunately, you have to deal with things after they happen; and most of those things should not have happened at all. I think responsibility falls upon each the member of this (or any) community to remember that they are not the sole standard of propriety. We should treat each other - even those we disagree with or dislike - in such a manner that moderators can spend there time doing things other than putting out fires.
I've been following this post and reviewed the post that started this post. What a bunch of narrow minded people. I can't believe how many people are disturbed by the beauty of the human body, be it male or female. In sales, sex sells. Yes, it's been going on for years. The people that are complaining about pictures of men or women standing next to a car should get a life. The people that make a derogitory comment about race or sexual preference should be banned from the site. Humor is good for the soul, that is funny, the other crap is uncalled for, lighten-up people This is 2005, not 1905. Let's get with the times and grow-up ! awsum
