Hey guys, I bet no one here would have issues with any of the pictures, if the cars had some of Doug's old tires on them. Duane
Al, I pretty much agree with you as to dealing with offenders. However, if memory serves me correctly, there were several different off topic posts from several different individuals, and perhaps that influenced the deletion decision. o No: Personally, I'd like to see a system where warnings are issued to those who post inappropriately, rather than sudden thread deletion. None the less, we must also agree to abide by what rules are presently in place, whether we like them or not. :TU:
I didn't get a chance to read the thread and can only assume (yeah, I know what happens when someone assumes) but if women or men are 'offended' by pics of naked/half naked women, you all need to get over it. We are human, each gender, for the most part, have the same 'parts', did you see something that you haven't before?? While I'm not into chicks, I'm a woman who does NOT care if there are naked/half naked pics of women posted on this site or any other site. As for lewd or distasteful remarks about women/men, it happens in this world and ALWAYS WILL!! I would rather hear/read them then pretend they don't exist! It actually is humorous to me that there are ignorant people who post their remarks for everyone to read. We do not live in a perfect society, nor will we ever.
It is funny because all (except the Toronto tower picture) of the photos came from e-bay, a public forum, not from any "soft" porn magazine or site. None of the photos looked like they were "voyeur" shots, they were all shots taken intentionally use the old "sex sells" angle. I agree the comments should be kept within bounds but what is wrong with saying "she is pretty" or "she is ugly"? If you allow your photo to be put on TV, a magazine or on a web site you better be ready for any comments, good or bad... If I don't like what I see on TV I change the channel, if I don't like a magazine I don't buy it, if I don't like a particular thread I don't read it... I use this site as entertainment and as an avenue to exchange information on cars, sometimes drywall, sometimes how to fix my washing machine, etc....If it were not for the non-car related posts this site would be like the BCA site, boring... I do like the BCA site but it is a little to dry for me... I am not bashing the BCA or its site in any way :Smarty: :beer
I'll buy two! After seing the dear departed Miss Montgomery on that hood I'm ready to buy two of whatever is being sold. So what! The tactic obviously works! Nice job getting yourself into the other ad Yardley - your pretty much like Hitchcock showing up in cameo. P.S. Anyone offended by my use of the word "Hitchcock," please see my attorney.
Yes it has. JW accidently placed it in The Bench instead of the Ebay forum. Scroll down some and you will find it.
Ron Please delete that asap. It reminds me of the the crack that crashed the whole V8 Board in 2004. If it is not, it is most certainly related.
Wow, I'm gone for a few evenings and I miss a lot. I always feel left out when I miss a thread-deletion, lol. I open all the threads I want to read in tabs... when I read this I was disappointed that I missed all the ruckus, lol, only to eventually find the thread was restored. Obviously some posts are missing, but I get the impression that what started as a joke turned ugly. It also seems that some skin is okay so long as it caters to the men and ignores the women - regardless of whether or not they would wish to view it (not to mention non-heterosexuals). Not all members of this "family" are men, yet all have the posts of women brought into their living room. What bothers me is not the photos, but the double-standard. I wonder what would happen if a woman were to start a thread with similar pictures of men? Would it be met with the same trepidation? I saw a comment earlier about people leaving the board due to similar issues, and another one contesting that. I have seen many people leave this board for similar attitudes - people who were regular contributors. Most notably, there was a mass-exodus a couple years ago due to racial issues. Go figure. Its nice to see things are back to normal, though - but I have to agree with Jim Lore about the picture that crashed the board
