Something that annoys me about the deleted Ebay thread

Yea I don't understand that myself, folks being politically correct bore me. Just post some rules, no scantily clad women/men, no politics, and no religion either. No matter what the rules someone will still be offended about something. This might be one of the cleanest most family orentiated forums on the net now, relating to cars that is. o No:

I missed the end of that particular thread, but I did see the beginning of it. I'd say the idea of cruising ebay to find this asinine practice in use was a good idea and one I enjoyed. Just a simple "I found another one" post would suffice. However some of the comments seemed a little ...ummm...questionable? Like I said I missed the end so I can't comment on the posts that got it deleted.

there are many threads posted on this site that i dont care for or don't agree with. the way most people deal with this type of situation is simply not read the thread or post in it. i'm suprised that you didnt think of this since your such a diverse and intelligent person. I wasnt aware that you were appointed to represent the women of the board and what they do or dont like. they also have the power to choose to view a thread or not...and the person who sent you that Pm is a brand new board member and the thread was started long before she joined....

 

ok keith, where was your concern when the political threads were posted that had nothing to do with Buicks? where was your concern when the numerous other Non- Buick related threads were posted? where was your concern when certain threads were posted with obvious racial stereotypes? kinda funny how you picked on this one and only thread..

 

Wow,I know I'm fairly new with the board,and maybe not as outspoken as some,but I got to chime in here.I have to agree with Jason here :TU: .That was a well read thread with lots of feedback.Jason's right,those photo's came from ebay.It's all about selling.Salespeople have been using men and women to sell their products since the word was first spoken.Look,those where not bad pictures,and the thread should not have been deleted.I see worse photo's on the sides of buses,billboards,and TV.I was a Kohl's last week where there is a carshow,get together on Saturdays ,and someone threw a post card type advertisement on my seat.It's for Stock Drags at Engilshtown,N.J. on Nov.12th,on the front of the card are pics of cars and Oh my God ,two girls in bikinis with a dude :shock: .Please,come on people,this should never have been an issue!This has nothing to do with degrading Women :rant: !If that's true then wasn't the photo of the guy doing the same thing to Men? o No: uzzled:That's just dumb. Some of you need to chill,step back take a calm down pill,and just think how ridiculous this has become ou: .This is suppose to be fun,no one is degrading anybody here,if that's how you are looking at it,I feel for you.Women are beautiful.Like most Men,I love Women,the way they walk,talk,sleep,eat,smell,look,dress,and can go on and on.The only time I don't like them is when they tell me what to do :grin: . There is a thread right now in this category(Bench),and this has nothing to do with the person who posted it,and all he is trying to do is talk about ebay,and the photo's in there are worse than anything that was posted on the thread in question.

Anyway,I'll probably here a lot of feedback from this post,but tough that's the way I feel,I don't think any wrong was done.And please don't come back with " do you have a daughter?" or something stupid like that.Yes I am a Father ,but this is not about that.It's all about selling and that's the way it's been for ages,nothing new here.If you don't like it,don't read it.Everybody should have some fun life is too short,later I'm out.BTW,for those who saw the link and photo of the model in just the seatbelt/shoulderbelt,that's probably the only time I would not feel uncomfortable in the passenger seat :Brow: .

 

I was happy to leave it going untill the subject went from "look at the girls in front of cars " to the subject of sexual preferance and then the claws came out and the picture of a boy washing a car ....well I have an opinion on the subject but once it went to a personal level it was time to dump the thread. I dont care about all the talk about the ebay girls thats what the thread was about ..............then the subject matter went another direction. All the mods agreed it was time to stop it before it became a real mess. Why allow someone with a knife to stab themselves........same thing here. Like it or not we dont need all the personal insults.
Sorry about it... but JW wants us to be this way. IF you wish to have the thread reinstated PM JW and state your case. Its all up to him.....Im not going to post anymore about here, my job here was clear.

 

Issues like this is ones I think a poll would be useful. (I say this as the polls seem to FINALLY have dropped down a few pages)

a) Restore the thread. It was harmless

b) Let the thread rest in peace. It was degrading to women.

Keep it simple and open for say a 2 week period, Let the Moderator team review the results, and go from there. Close the poll, case closed either way. I myself dont open threads that have no interest to me, and saw no problem about the thread in question. Maybe I missed something though.

I have a wife. I have a teenage son. We see much worst flipping thru the channels of free TV. We see something we dont deem as appropiate, we change the channel. We see something out in public we dont see as appropiate, we leave that site. Its all about choice. I dont think you have to read thru 5 pages or so of a thread to see what direction the topic is going. Its normally pretty apparent whether its a worthy read for me in post #1. Thats my opinion...... :TU:

I think that what many of you are forgetting is that the board isn't exactly a democracy. The rules are set, the moderators keep the peace by making sure no one is upset or "personally" insulted.
There are many, many threads over time that I do not agree with or that are not my "style". I just browse through them and try not to read much into them. Some things though are borderline . The Courtney thread is one of them. The posting of the woman with her "bits" dangling from the cut off tank top is in poor taste IMHO.
You guys aren't always going to "see" the complaints, because they are sent to the moderators........... some people are insulted by things but do not wish to be singled out.
I think it would be in the best interest of all of us to let the thread go and move on to better things. After all....... this IS called V8Buick, not T&A-Buick...... right?
