Are you wanting v2.1? if so give me your email address and I can give it to you.

I just wanted to say that I started over with the big block base tune tonight, adjusted the torque values down and more or less copied in Steiner's cold start setting.

I found out I had missed some stuff. The reason it wasn't starting with the big block base file was because I needed to go back and change the tach input to 6A. I also double checked my TPS calibration and my max, maxed out at 75%. I don't know how it changed from when I swapped the PJ3 from one car to the next but it did.

I also bumped the idle up about 50 rpms and it seems to run good now and do what's asked of it. Now if I can just keep it running this way I'll be happy. We'll just have to see what winter brings.

When I first installed my PJ3 I had some starting issues like you are having. It would stall as soon as the "To From" timer would run out. Once I got the car out and let it warm up and reset the idle, let it do some learning at idle and made sure that both throttle shafts were open the same amount by removing the unit and looking it doesn't do it any more. I also did the mods to the throttle linkage that was discussed earlier and it works a lot better. I had my IPW at 5000 and my timer at 8 seconds to cover the problem, I am now lowering those settings now that it is running better. I found the closer the 2 shaft are too being opened same amount the better it runs.

I also went in and changed my closed loop activation temp to 100 so it wasn't an issue while I was working on the cold starts.

    PM sent.

Correct...need V2.1 firmware. My CD had V1_1 dashboard SW and downloaded V2.1 Dash SW yesterday. I like to 10# boost base profile to for my setup. I tried the flash Util and realized later I needed the ehf file. Thanks for the assistance...off to the garage!

Go on the Fast EZ-EFI forum and you will see those guy's are having some problems too. I think we have it a little easier because we can data log. We also have a few more tuning options to play with in the program to solve any tuning issues. I would also like a temp based IAC like Steiner mentioned.

I can only keep it running as long as it's in temp enrichment cycle. However it runs rich. with target at 13.5 it still hovers at 12.1 after initial start. As soon as it switches over to the idle circuit, she dies.

I have tried opening the throttle blades more and reseting the TPS, however it just idles at 2000rpms and still dies the same.

I can't believe my engine is so different from Steiners at idle once warmed up. I may have lower vacuum (6-8") but other than that what gives?

Timing is set at 21* initial an 36* at 3000rpms. No vacuum leaks. Even if I tape off the IAC it still dies when it switches off the temp enrichment to the idle cell. I guess I could set the temp enrichment Pw to 5000 and 6 billion seconds, should run long enough then to go get some gas...

That brings up one other point, perhaps my gas is bad? It's only 2-3 gallons I had in the shed for over 6 months. Never had gas go bad that quick but who knows?

I'm going to see how to make a datalog and post it for review

You're definitely not going to be able to run cold with the IAC taped. Try going into the IAC screen for RPM follower and change your maximum IAC steps for both cold and hot RPM follower to 180. Also change all of your RPM targets for 120 and below to 1150 RPM.

I tried firing mine up this morning and it would fire run for 5-10 seconds then die. Alot longer than the initial fuel prime, unfortunately I didn't have my log file on. The car began to surge up and down in idle although not as bad as it had been. I then changed my base map setting following some instructions off another site.

The car begins to do the surging normally after the throttle has been touched when its cold. Once its been warmed up the problem doesn't exist. I think I never noticed it before because when I first got the PJ3 on I would start the car and let it get warm before heading off down the road. I'll try to get a log on a cold start and get some experts input on it. Is there anything special I should do during the log? or just a cold start, with no throttle and let her warm up that way? Thanks Mike

    What's the other site? Thanks!

Got her going enough to take her out and around the block. How long does it take for cells to populate with the learning mode? It was a short trip maybe 3 minutes but all cells are still zero.

Thanks. Looks like lots of folks with better luck than me. :( Not giving up yet, gonna work on it tomorrow. I had it well over 185* so it should have been working.

Maybe I can get off work early Monday to call PP for help. They are west coast right?

I upgraded from v1.1 to 2.1 and loaded new firmware Fri eve (thanks CJ). On Sat afternoon I was able to get it to start only to die within ~5 seconds. Car was running previously on V1.1 and I was close to drive and learn mode before rain moved in. While review this thread I discovered V2.1 and noticed I have a V1.1 CD. Anyway I went for the upgrade to keep pace with the cold start stuff since I live in MN.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>

Now, I have played with IAC, Cold Start, PW etc settings per previous posts. At one point I decided to plug the IAC and was able to maintain an idle (hat off and no boost to PJ3). I let it warm to ~150 deg and had good throttle response and saved a log. I thought I was making progress. However, the problem (start then die) returned on the next start attempt ~1 hour later. After 1-2 hours I went back to my base line and still starts then die. I must be missing something. <o:p></o:p>

    I can't post files yet...need 7 more posts

By chance does anyone have V1.1 firmware? It's not on the V1.1 CD I received with my kit. Thinking I should go back to V1.1 SW and firmware, learn the system and work my way up from there. Thoughts?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>

My setup in case it helps.

72 GMC Sprint (El Camino's red headed step child and Dr EFI's twin, east of the Mississippi), Procharged SBC (PSI TBD via V2.1 SW), Mild EFI/Boost Cam (~10-12 inHg), Air-Gap, Mallory Ign, RacePumps EFI Fuel System (~42 PSI @ idle)

4 more post to release my link-ability. Sorry for the band width guys

If you run the car out of gas just clear the ADL and you should be fine

Oh baby! Gave me goosebumps haha

You are using both the 006 .ehf file and 2.1 cal file right? mixing a 005 .ehf with 2.1 or mixing 2.1 with 006 will cause issues.

Is PP providing tech support anymore? I often get busy and dont have mch time to spend here.

Sprint, What does your fuel pressure do with that Racepump??? Are you getting the prime shot out of the injectors?

Had my car out yesterday for some testing. I had the CL raised to over 100 degrees will I was playing with the cold starts. So yesterday I set the CL to 60 degrees and started it. It was 70 degrees out so it came on as soon as the O2 warmed up. I put it in gear and drove it out of the garage and put it in park. By this time the CL was on and it started idling up and down. Looked at the Real time data and the "After Start Enrichment" was adding fuel and the CL was trying to remove fuel. CL would lean it down and bring the RPM's down then it would go too lean as the RPM's came down so it would richen it up to bring the RPM's up. Back and forth it would go. Went in and raised the CL to 100 degrees which turned it off and it stopped.

    Dr EFI,

1240006 firmware and V2.1 dashboard. Fuel PSI is good. PW drops to 1100 in Inj mode 2 then dies. I think that's my issue. Can seem to change it. Logged 60 files today so far.. one change at a time.

I can post file yets. I need 3 more post. I work 60+ hours a week M-F. Check your fox ride account...
