I get it, if you have been on this board for years you've seen and likely lived it all.

I also get that it provides some temporary relief to vent about it.

At the end of the day, this is all rather trivial in the grand scheme and of all days maybe its good that we all can go reflect with family and friends for what we are thankful for and not what gets us butt chapped when the parts for sale world goes boathouse.

Happy Thanksgiving to the V8 BUICK family and friends!

Isn't that what Idle Chit Chat is? Idle chit chat. Nothing about "I'll Take it"? I caught Flack each way since I've been a Member here. Yes, PM Sent puts you in line. No, PM sent Doesn't put you in line. That happened the last time I tried to sell something here. I was asked, what color is it? The part was right there in Three Pictures. Then the hassle of who showed interest First. I had to get in touch with a Mod to figure it out. No, they're not in line. They're just asking a Question about a part. That doesn't show intrest in a purchase. We have a section for Chit Chatting. It's called "The Bench". If you want to talk about a part, go there. If you want to buy a part, Say So. Not in a PM or by any other means. "I'll Take It" speaks Volumes.

I built the car for a customer. It started out as a 72 gs 350 and ended up a 1970 GSX clone with stage 455.

I don't think the chit chat should be allowed but I also don't think its right to say you can't ask questions about part or car that you want to buy. I don't say I am interested unless I am ready to pull the pin and buy it. As a seller I also don't want to have to weed through all the I will buy its in the line just to find out who really wants to buy it.

I remember when I use to put things up for sale in the news paper and you would spend your day of fielding phone calls and questions all day and I can't help but wonder what would of happened If I told people not to ask questions just show me the money.

I am starting to think that this is more about some people can't handle waiting in line only to not get there way?????

Maybe change to 1 year or 6 months membership to post?

All replys to PMs sounds good and sellers only can post to the thread to update.

I noted a line up on a nice car at a good price. Seemed like everyone was acting like gentlemen.

That sucks, that was a real nice car. I love that color combo! I wish I would of bought that one instead of the X. I had to build a new engine for that one, who ever fly cut the pistons cut right through the tops of the pistons into the ring lands, bearing clearance was way to tight and wiped the bearings out and it had stock main bolts and was fretty like crazy. Any we better stop chit chatting before we screw up a sale

    Thanks, JW.

In the automotive industry (and pretty much any other successful venture) "continuous improvement" has to be a focus. What worked fine or works fine is never really good enough; making it work better has to be kept in mind; thanks for being willing to do it. I don't envy you the task, but thanks!

I think it would be great to stay on topic rather than laugh this off.

i tell ya one i think is really unfair to members, contibuting member especially...

"I'm in line for a friend"...ya know what? this is a forum for members...let your friends join like the rest of did..its total bullcrap...and is just more stall tactics..and aggrivation for members that hunt for a part to be snagged or taken off the market for a stranger....i know, i know...my buddy is comoputer illeiterate...well thats fine, step up and buy it for them if you know they need it and you deal with the after the fact if they really do or not...

IM NOT CALLING ANYONE OUT...I'VE DONE IT AND ITS BIT ME IN THE BUTT...WAY BACK WHEN I WAS NEW HERE...AND SOMEONE PM'D ME SAYING, THATS NOT FAIR...AND IT ISNT...

what im saying is, if you have to be a member to post, the parts section should be for members....not a members friends..let him join

    whew....rant over

Really? Please define "flipped". Either we have a different definition of flipping or you are talking about a different Chris

    Jim,

I agree this has been a great site. Charging will still have issues and people will think they are "entitled" due to that nd that would be on either end. You will hear more bitching and crying. Kudos to you that your not in it for the money. I know if I was working and creating this I would be looking for some reimbursment for my time and efforts. But that's me.

Just a little back ground on me. I'm a complaints dept for a major insurance company and I solve issues and problems everyday. I deal with all kinds of personalities. I'm a middle man in many situations daily. Here is my suggestion and it will elieviate quite a few issues.

    1) Shut down the "parts for sale" section all together.

2} Keep the "parts wanted" section. Have only the original poster be able to post in the thread. No resposnes to be added by the people with the part in the thread . All transactions/contacts though pm. This will avoid the part snipers. No one will know who has the parts except the poster. Also they can decide what part the get offered for the lowest price or the best quality part. This will help the guy that really needs the parts and will cut down some price gougers and hoaders.

    3) For part sellers (like me at times)**************** anyone selling parts can link their "craig's list ad" there so the transaction is off site. No responses allowed by other members in the thread. This will solve most issues. Potential not being able to respond will avoid the getting in line situation and commentaries will be added there to muddy the waters.

Doing this will make it a "buyer's" market v/s "seller's" market.

I do think 24 hours is too long. If someone says interested or I want it they should have paypal ready anyway. If you have time to type that then you should be able to firm up the deal. Some people play games om here and buy everything up. Most will notice I'm not buying many of the 64-65 parts anymore. Some have been great deals on here lately.

    Just my thoughts!!!!!!
