I voted for the '71, although it's pretty hard to put the other years as "2nd place." Love them all. But the '71 is so clean and simple, especially with the horizontal Skylark grills. I have to admit to not really liking the rubber surrounds on the '72's, nor their hood moldings above the grills for a long time. But mine is starting to grow on me. I think the color combo makes the rubbers work well. And the even the '72 Skylark metal grill is working for me.
In the Skylark line I vote for the 1965. But my favorite is the original Gran Sport, The 1965 Riviera GS
OK Im biased, voted for 1970, the front and the rear makes the difference to me. 1966 Wildcat GS would be second choice.
I voted for the '66 GS account that's what I drive and own today. I owned the '70 Skylark GS and loved it for what it was, but my heart goes out for the 1965 Skylark GS. I'm a little biased account that was my 1st GS owned, and I personally believe it has the most fantastic body style and goodies of all the GS series made. It's just a matter of personal taste, I guess. Jim:bglasses:
i cant choose haha i have a 72 i'll be chaning to a 70 look in due time... but i also love the 67 look
I voted for the 73, it is unique in apperance for the era and honestly it is such a good driving car, it has that flat firm road feel and of course a slight oversteer which I like in a car (just point the car and turn). The 73 has a long range of options for convience, short on power, and more rust prone than the others but still a really nice car. Most just set to low to the ground and need to be lifted 1 to 2 inches to get a good looking stance.
I have always liked the 1970 GS for many years and that is why I bought the one I have. Of course,it took me many years of money and sweat to get my GS into the shape it's in today.
I dont know if it's because my first car was a 67 skylark or not, but I really like the way the 67 GS looks, 67 was just a general good looking year for GM cars. To me, the best looking impalas, chevelles, GTOs, cutlasses, even firebirds and camaros were from '67. That said, when I started looking to buy another skylark, I ended up going with my '70 because I thought it was just a beautiful looking car. '70 had the best bumpers and the GS grill to my eyes, and the angles on the front end were similar to the '67s which I liked, I liked the longer ass of the '67 but the short rump still looks good on the '68-72 in it's own way. In the end I picked the '67, because IMO it was the most distinguished looking of the GS's, but it's barely above the '70. That and I really loved the smoker's windows. As for years not represented, I have to say that my '02 regal gs was a great car. Good grunt&go for a 6 banger that got damn good mileage, and the most comfortable car I've ever ridden in, and it had so many luxuries. It wasnt a muscle car, but I really like the way it looks for a modern car. I really miss having a moon roof and power bucket leather seats. And they had great aftermarket potential.
My vote is 1969. Always loved 'em. All the little things that are different from 68s I like better. Out of 70,71,72 I like the 72s. Again, the little things. N25s , hood nose molding and bumper make the grille opening smaller than 70. Keeping one original means no buckets in a ragtop for 72 , which I would have liked, so my vote was for 69. Bucket 4 speed ragtop.
As is obvious from my signature line, I have allways had a soft spot for the '70 GS. A large grille uninterupted by the front bumper, and the way the tail lights seemlesly flow into the rear emblem that proudly proclaims "BUICK" are beautiful styling ques. Add that to the 70-72 sheet metal with front sweep spear that ends at the door forming a speed Z, and rear sweep spear that flows into the the rear bumper line, and the result is a near perfect form. Absolutely at the top of the heap of GM's '70-72 A-Body efforts. The hood scoops look good, but clearly a case of form over function. One of the car's few shortcommings. The car in the pic belongs to board member BadBrad, and is quite simply a BEAUTIFUL example of this styling.
66's bcuzz i have one of course:3gears: and they are versitile you can lowride it, ratrod it,or muscle car it,and still have buick class:TU: i dont know if the later body styles are that versitile imo
Even though I have a '68, I voted for the '65. I'd drop mine like a hot rock if a '65 came my way. I've always liked 64-65 A-bodies...and I've owned several, but not a Buick or an Olds. Lessee...'64 Malibu SS, 65 Malibu, '65 GTO, '65 LeMans, '65 LeMans convertible...nope, no Buicks or Oldsmobiles. Now, in '70, all A-bodies were gorgeous, no doubt. Of the years that I'd pick after the '65, it'd be generic 1970.
I had a 68 Cali. GS, real nice car, I had a 71 GS, it was OK, I love the 70 GSX Tribute I have now. I have allways liked the 1960 (or so) through 1973 cars. I like the squarer 66/67 cars, I like the 68/69 body style. I have allways loved the Riviera's also, something about a early 70ish boat tail Riv, UM UM, one sweet car. I like the 73ish Century also. I had a 73 Century Wg with the 455/400, that was a sweet ride for a wagon. I guess I would have to say I like all 1960 to 1973 Buicks, and I wish I could own one or two of each :Brow:
I have to say I do love my 67 but if the right 69 came along I would have a hard time saying no. I just love the hood and the grill of the 69. I love the lump in the hood so much I grafted one to my extra 67 hood, looks great. The 67 GS grill and the 69 are similar. Yup a 69 400 4 speed car sure would fit the bill but I just couldn't part with my 67 right now.
