1966 Wildcat GS!!! I cant believe Im the only one. I WILL have one some day. Thought Id provide a pic. I am not the lucky owner of this amazing car.
I like smaller size of '65...but fav a-body "GS" isn't GS at all. '64 Skylark nicer looking overall...'65 ft bumper/grille not as smooth, and wall-to-wall taillites a bit much...there's one nearby, red '64 Lark 'vert that's been "GS-ized" w/455 drivetrain...love that car... As for real GS...'65 Riv...
My vote is for a 72 2 door post car with the N25 rear bumper and a 70 front clip. Hey I like the standard bench interior for 72! And if color was in the mix it would be apollo white with the green interior with the standard steering wheel.
I thought I had voted for this issue a long time ago, but I don't see a post with my remarks so I am going to chime in (memory isn't as good as it used to be). This is a no brainer, the 65 Skylark GS wins hands down. I can see some of you guys need retraining, but I assume you will eventually see the light. The body style of the 65 Skylark is just unbelievably beautiful. The front bumper is cooler than the 64 and the wall to wall tail lights are a thing of beauty. the roof line and the rest of the body a fantastic. The only thing I would change about the 65 Skylark is the front seat design and that is not a big thing. Oh yea, it came stock with that beautiful nailhead, what an engine. Well here is to hoping you guys that voted for other than the 65 Skylark GS will someday see the light.
As my avatar might suggest, I agree with the majority on this one. The '70 doesn't have a bad angle on it. I'm partial to black cars, and I've never seen a better looking '64-'72 muscle car than a '70 GS in Regal Black with no vinyl top. A close second for me would be a '67 (also black on black with no vinyl top)-- looks like the poll backs me up on that one too!
So many nice looking cars to choose from but, I've always like the line of the 65 and 67 best myself. I voted 65 as that's currently the year I have, but its close for me between the two. As others have said, I also like the lines of the other A body cars. Chevelle (though I'd never buy one), Olds and GTO from 64-67 are my favorites.
Well.... I wish there would have been a '64 GS. I prefer the grill and front bumper on 64's. Interior on 64 is sharp. The tail light treatment on the '65 is way cool. the console with floor shifter in 65 -67 is my fave. 66 & 67 have that sharp back window with sail panels. Also the two tone seats are nice in 66's. '69 GS hood was the best. Like the '70 best in the 70-72 style, mostly because of the hood nose and grill. Guess I like 'em all. Maybe need to do like Johnny Cash's old song, and build one with a little from each one. LOL. Seen a lot of very nice ones from all the years here on v8. Congrats to all of you, and thanks for sharing with all of us.:TU: Michael '64 Skylark
