Thanks, Dave! There's my backup plan!! :TU:

Yardley gave me the lowdown on the data plate:

06E build date (so is that early model year June '65 or late model year June '66?)

    66-46437

    FT Superturbine

    TR428

    Body BW1706 (interpretation??)

Paint HH (with a "2" below it) Seafoam! I love green cars!

    492 (what's that mean?)

    Master Cylinder

    Ken,

I would consider replacing the single reservior master cylinder before you make your trip with a quality rebuilt unit. When these fail, you have absolutely no brakes. My father had one of these fail on his '66 Electra when the car was only about 4 years old. I remember he hit the garage door because he could not stop that 4,500 lb. mass.

I think it would be cheap insurance. After all, '66 Wildcat body parts are not the easiest to find, not to mention your personal safety.

    Thanks,

    Ken

And a water pump!!! Don't forget a new waterpump!!

I do have a nice Carter AFB for you. I haven't used it since I put dual quads on my car...in 1982! But it looks clean inside, should work fine. One thing I recall about that carb....my car did GREAT burnouts with it!

We planned on doing it, but not at this moment.

If Ken has the coin, let's do it now! Anyone know what double-unit we can ask for at the parts counter?????

And I never thought about the water pump. I'm confident it'll make it to CT with the current one, but a swap should come asap after he gets home. Good idea, Walt.

Of course, swapping the water pump should happen the same time he pulls all the stuff off the front of the motor to paint it.

MAN! I really loved doing this to my Riv when I first bought it. The 2 or 3 days it takes to do the swap and paint really shows off the engine bay. It'll look like a brand new car with just a couple of cans of spray paint and some mineral sporits.

    Hey guys, COOL thread. :TU:

    Two more things to consider:

1.) Check the driveshaft center bearing. It's got a 2 piece shaft. Grab the driveshaft and see if it's real sloppy. Just a piece of mind thing before a long trip.

2.) You'll need to get the stainless steel plate that goes under the carb. The Rochester 4GC has a cast iron base and doesn't need one, so it won't be there. The Carter AFB has to have it or you'll get an "internal" vacuum leak (exhaust into intake manifold) and it will run like dogchit.

Good Luck and keep us informed.

Ken, I'm sorry I didn't answer your PM and I apologize for that. I wasn't planning on trailering my Stage 1 to Yardley's,but I am glad that Dave is able to help you out. Of course,I will be at Yardley's and will probably ride down with Dave or take my Regal GS.

I look forward to seeing you and your newly acquired Wildcat.

OK, I have a Master Cylinder and a Water Pump on order. Thanks for the advice, guys.

Walt, do you have the stainless plate with your AFB that Wildcat2 is referring to? Looking forward to a big burnout with your carb! BTW, I am a AAA member to answer an earlier question.

Carl, would you have any interest in heading down the evening before? I'm looking to get there to work on the 'Cat, but I need to get there without a car as I plan to drive the 'Cat home. No sweat if that doesn't work for you.

    Alan -

Believe me - I had all intentions of coming to the spring meet as well, then something important came up days before that prevented me from attending

Hey Ken, how's this fan shroud look? The core support looks just as good.
