    OK, where are we...

Fuel pump is in and plumbed.

    Mice are dead.

Parts ordered or bought... carb rebuild kit, water pump, master brake cylinder, radiator, carpet, hoses, belts, headlights.

When the rad arrives I'll install it, swap the heater hoses and fill it with antifreeze 50/50 mix. Then I'll be able to run her for quite a while. We can drain it again to swap the rad hoses and water pump whe you arrive, but in the meantime I just want antifreeze in het just incase we get a cold snap.

I'll see if my flex fan fits and also see if any lightbulbs need replacing. I know the trunk one is gone. If I get real brave I'll have a look at the fusebox.

I'll pull the carpet and seats. If your carpet doesn't arrive in time we'll just lay the front half back in. I'll scrub out the interior.

Walt and I will try to hook up on Sunday and fit the Carter AFB onto your manifold.

Let's see... what else... oil and filter are changed. Trans is funny, but we'll all have a thought on that (why is a bellhousing bolt missing and why doesn't the dipstick tube mate up?). Shifts fine though.

Tires are good. Suspension and steering seem fine. Upper control arm bushings have a ton of meat on them. While we have her on ramps at the picnic we can grease her. You seriously want to grease the center yoke slip fitting. We'll see how energetic we are. I really don't want to pull the driveshaft right now.

At the picnic we'll put a tune on her and all take turns burning off the passenger side back tire. Seriously, it doesn't stand a chance with nailhead torque.

    more to follow, I'm sure.

    Not a bad idea Alan!

The guy is a maniac on the Get-R-Done concept! I am very greatful of everything he is doing, starting with finding the car in the first place. We've been talking several times a day and he's been giving me updates on progress. I had no expectation that he would do what he's doing and go as far as he's going. He tells me he's having fun, but you know what? It is work and it does take time to do. Time that could be spent detailing his Riv or getting jobs done around the house. Spare time is a premium for all of us, and right now he's spending that premium time helping out a friend. Do you know that I have the signed title in my hand and that I have not sent him one dollar for the car yet? Everyone I tell this to tells me what a good friend I have. Of course, I already knew this.

Yards, I have no idea what I can do to repay you, but I am going to try! Your the best, man!! :beer

Well, you can start with learning proper grammar. It should read "you're the best".

Hey Alan, I have a vac gauge and a dwell, but bring yours with you please, just in case.

The one thing that I have not seen mentioned is replacing ALL the fuel line hose. Even if we have to drop the tank to get those sections up on top.

Carry an extra new fuel filter on the trip.

Don't know how I missed this thread :Do No: musta still been in vacation mode. :beer

Congrat's Ken on being "Nailed"

    Doug-

Jeff's replaced the front lines already. I'm not sure how difficult it will be to get at the rear ones, but it's something we at least mentioned in conversation.

Jeff, if you could hit the tank strap bolts with some PB, I'd appreciate it!

One other thing, we plan to switch out the 4-jet that's on there with a Carter AFB on loan from Walt. From posts above, I understand we need a plate to go between the Carter and the Intake that the 4-jet does not have. Do you have one of these in case Walt does not? I know Jeff has a call into Walt, but I don't know if he's heard back yet. If you could even scan it, email me the pic, and let me know material thickness I could have one made up here.

Another question I have is the point set and condenser I bought are mounted together. Jeff tells me they are separate units on the car now. Will the combo set work? Or do I need the separates?

Thanks! It's good to be "nailed"!

Ken , I just put one of the combination point/condenser sets in My 66 'cat GS. I found that the way they had assembled the one I purchased you couldn't get a feeler gauge between the contacts to set the points. Fortunately the car fired up with the points set as they came out of the box and i was able to set the points using the dwell meter. Hopefully they will work for you.
I hope you have good luck on your trip . It seems like you have a gazillion things getting changed before your trip back home; I hate to add to your work load but i think i would change out the rear end gear oil if Jeff hasn't done it yet. Keep the pictures coming , I am enjoying them as it is nice to see what mine should look like . I am slowly putting it back together and as I bought it disassembled I have no idea what it should look like so seeing a true survivor is great.

Ken, I did find two used carb plates, but both are rusted thru. I'll scan one and send it to you Thursday morning. PM me an e-mail address, please!
Another alternative is to just plug the two exhaust holes in the manifold. I've done this with 3/8" allen-head set screws. Or we could just tap in a 3/8" brass rod to seal them up. They often get clogged with carbon in normal use, but it's hard to say how they'll be after only 27k miles.
Don't worry, Yards and I can fix anything!

    Tom Lynch-

Hey, that was my Grandfather's name! Gear lube is probably a good idea too. What's in there may very well be 40 years old! Yardley already "tested" it to see if it was posi- no such luck. Buying a car in pieces takes a lot of guts. I hope the parts were labeled well! Best of luck on your restoration.

    Walt-

I'll send you a PM with my email address.

    Making progress...

The top of the core support looks brand new, the pulley on the PS pump looks like new. I should be able to do the pump itself as well. I should have the seats out of it tomorrow, and maybe the carpet as well.

If the rear end fluid is full, LEAVE IT BE!!!!! The old fluid is much better than the crap they make today. 95% of the time rear end fluid is never changed or is even really nec. unless it happens to be a posi with a chatter problem. Then 95% of the time all that needs to be done is add the posi additive.
The fuel hoses in the rear of the car & on the frame by the rear of the right front tire are easy to get at to replace.
Yards, what happened to the sticker that was on that shroud??? I'll bring my timing light & dwell meter also. Walt give Ken the dimensions & he will be able to have one made. Ken, if you need a manifold to copy I have extras you can borrow & you could make me a few "extra" plates. I know that these plates are the same as a Mopar but I can't find the part number for it in this mess I have. Organizational skills are not one of my better points.

Tom, see the original pics I took. There was no sticker on the shroud. If there were I'd have masked it off and painted around it.

I'll replace the rear rubber hose. All forward hose has been replaced.
