Consider the Regeneron treatment if it is available to you. GWS!

So which vaccine did you get....curious to see if one is supposedly working better than another. You don't hear much about which vaccine is or is not working against the delta.
You don't hear anything about the JJ version, don't know if that is good or bad.

I think we can steer clear of a political spin.

The simple fact is that the vaccines are still a bit of an unknown.. Which one would expect, since there was no time to spend years testing to see how long the immunity lasted, in other words how effective it will be over time. I anticipate that we all will be given booster shots here in the near future.

A disturbingly high portion of those who have come down with the latest variant of covid, were "fully vaccinated". That's the bad news.. the good news is that those vaccinated individuals seem to experience much less severe symptoms than those who are not vaccinated. In Oregon for example, which is right around 60% fully vaccinated, the state had 12K+ new case last month, mostly the last week of July, which has continued into August here. Of those July cases, it's about an 80/20 split for new cases, vaccinated vs Non Vaccinated.

I have said this before, will say it again.. we will get thru this pandemic when enough of us actually catch the virus, and survive, thus gaining natural immunity. At some point the community will experience "herd immunity" and while covid 19 will still be present, it's impact on the society as a whole will be minimal. Vaccinations will help slow the spread, and limit the numbers and severity of illness... but these vaccines are not what we traditionally expect from something called a "vaccine".. I prefer to think of them as a pre-infection therapeutic drug. And each individual needs to weigh the benefit vs risk factors, and decided if it is right for them.

Hospitalization rates overall are still about 5%, and the mortality rate is stable right around 1%. Demographics have not substantially changed, the older you are, the more likely you are to be hospitalized or die from Covid. Most deaths in young individuals were due to the individual also having other serious health issues.

As the seasons change, the hotspots will move north, as we migrate back inside due to weather. Regardless of the propaganda, one of the biggest factors in the current hotspots in FLA and TX is the fact they are all inside, escaping the blazing hot summer heat of that region this time of year.

We all need to continue to wash our hands, and avoid indoor situations that could expose us to the virus. Consider if the vaccine is right for you, consult your doctor on that, and examine your risk factors.

And my best advice to you right now, is to totally ignore the politicians and the media. All sides are using and manipulating data to their advantage, and I find it rather disgusting. Media outlets are over hyping the event to boost ratings.

Here's hoping for a quick recovery Nekkid. I got the OG version of the General Tso's Sicken last year the week before Thanksgiving. Felt weak a few days, a little drainage, and the worst part, zero taste or smell for about 10-12 days (which I've read is less a symptom with the spec-ops Delta force version). My sinuses have been stupid the past few weeks, but so has everyone else in my area as the pollen is so thick your shoes turn orange from walking on grass (not kidding).

    Get well soon!

ETA: Tip of the hat JW, that's one solid well thought out post.

I'm on day 4. Having very mild cold symptoms, but a temp which increases from 98 in the a.m. to 100.5 at night. Barely feels like I have anything but a slight cold except I sweated like crazy a few nights while sleeping.
Got my 2 Pfizer shots in April/May. Figured I was safe, went to Musikfest for 7 days straight and it found me anyway. On Wednesday, I felt a cold coming on but had a 100.5 temp at bedtime. Got the PCR test on Thurs and had a positive result an hour later.
I had been carpooling to the fest with a few friends for 5 of those 7 days, my concern for getting tested ASAP was for them and not for the slight cold/flu symptoms I usually ignore and live with. One had cold symptoms same day I got them, he and his wife are awaiting results. Another got a neg result but it may have been too early after exposure (to me), they say tests are more accurate 5-7 days after exposure, 2-3 days may be too soon. But then again, any of us could have been 'found' by the virus at any time.
I can only speculate about whether the vacc helped me or limited my ability to spread it (I sure hope it did).
But the point is, it's still out there and everyone is vulnerable.
As of two days ago, Musikfest is suggesting the wearing of masks in crowded areas..... too late for me.
Sux that I have to cut my vaca 4 days short, and waste another week on quarantine. Just hope my friends make out ok.
    That's my experience, so far.

Max Damage I'm working on it!

Hope you get better soon. Yes, vaccinated people can still get it, but they are MUCH less likely to be hospitalized or die.

I'm right at 12 days in on my covid journey. It's mostly just been head cold and loss of smell and taste. One degree hotter than normal on temp. That went away like 5 days in.

I got it when I went to Vegas...not surprised, since it was busier than I had ever seen it before.

There is no doubt in my mind that covid will be with us for a long time....much like the flu. This is not like Polio or Measles, where a vaccine will eradicate the bug. So it wouldn't surprise me if continued covid and flu vaccines are administered every season.
