Trouble with your "science denier" claim is that it assumes those not in agreement fit that narrative. Science has made too many mistakes for some of us to place 100% trust in it. True science evolves and willingly admits when they're wrong. Unfortunately when big $$$$$$$ becomes involved, that won't happen.

Many of those who refuse the current vaccines aren't anti-vaxxers per se. Some, like me, won't jump on the first car of the bandwagon. I'd prefer to see further trial test results before making such a huge commitment. Others don't trust the mRNA aspect.

Your claim of people rushing off to buy some snake oil off the internet also fits those who jumped on that vax bandwagon because they heard some doctor or scientist say "it's safe". Too many "experts" on TV these days. The "expert" label is used far too frequently.

The whole idea of a vaccine is to artificially induce herd immunity in the population. If we waited (without vaccines) for everyone to get covid 19, either mild case or die from it could be too late. Getting vaccine speeds up the process by inducing a response to the virus and building immunity. Problem is if only 55% of populaion gets vaccine and maybe 20% have their own immunity that leaves 25% of the population at risk and potentially spreading it.
AND allows virus to mutate into variants that are possibly more deadly.....

Unfortunately, "science" (along w/everything else) has become politicized but so far everyone here seems to be m/l steering clear of overtly politicized statements.

I tested positive for first gen Covid in January and have been fully vaxed with Pfizer since early May. There is no way it gets a second crack at me without reinforcements.

The fact that people who had the covid19 are told they have to have the vaccine make several in the community question things.... the doctor ask me if my kids had chicken pox I said yes, he said then they don't need the vaccine for chicken pox. The same is not obviously true today?
It is also sad that this thread did not make it off the first page before 1 of the 5 with all the "correct " answers to life's questions arrived...o_O

It seems there was a little more research put into the polio vaccines!

Seems simple to me. If you can have cast rods or forged rods at the same price, why not choose forged?

Uh, yeah -- medicine wasn't quite so advanced = more time req'd, eh?

Mr. Salk's desktop computer, the office mainframe, electron microscope, and his dna sequencers weren't exactly state of the art.

People use all kinds of supplements that are not FDA approved and have no proven benefits.

Supplements that supposedly improve your brain.
Supplements that supposedly help you lose weight
Supplements that supposedly fortify your immune system
Drugs with absolutely no proven value
Drugs which could be harmful, or whose side effects have not been studied

And yet, they resist the vaccine.o_O

Drama has no place in science in my opinion, yours may differ:). Choice is a big part of this country's foundation. Just a fact

This thread is the equivalent of trying to launch your car with 750 HP/700TQ engine, and 5000 stall converter on skinny street tires. You go NOWHERE, except SIDEWAYS.:D:D

Since predicting the future is an inexact science, it could also be the reverse of this. Science is never settled. It evolves and changes over time. I'm through with al the fear mongering and "people are gonna die by the thousands or millions".

Let's see a photo of Bill Gates in that costume. :D

My folks were visiting for the weekend. My father's career was cancer research. He ran an electron microscope for 30 years. This is the stuff he knows. He explained to me why the virus is so selective to the folks it really hurts. He also explained how this vaccination is unlike any other in the past. Comparing it to the polio vaccination is a kin to comparing the kitty hawk to an f35..

There is so much nonsense here. You simply can't replace the awesome wealth of knowledge behind real medical science by reading a handful of articles or watching some lunatic spout off in a YouTube video. The "common sense" approach is not always the winner.

All of your questions and concerns have real answers.. the problem is they are being answered by fools.

The fact that Moderna and Pfizer eliminated their control group is troubling on so many levels. First, how can you have a study without a control group? That is bad science and terrible procedure.

Moderna and Pfizer loss of control groups

I don’t trust the mainstream media or the politicians, but that doesn’t mean I automatically think the exact opposite of what they say must be the truth. I do trust front line workers who tell me their hospital is full of Covid patients and almost all of them (97% is the lowest I’ve heard) are unvaccinated. I’d rather trust them, whose only agenda is helping the sick, than the loud voices on the web whose agenda is much more murky and suspect.
