I haven't said much around here lately, since I'm finishing up with school, but I feel I should put in what I've learned. First off, right on to the guys here who said it'll come when you least expect it. Second, don't get into a relationship just to be with someone. I'm still dealing with the aftermath. Third, live your life the way you want and you'll find your own happiness where you want it to be. For me, I'm heading back to my hometown, Milwaukee for a career that will let me enjoy my hobbies, my cars and rugby, and there are enough fish in the sea and enough time for me to find the one I want to share my life with.

On a second note, anyone in Milwakee or that area who wants to spend some time wrenching on some cars let me know, I'll be glad to give a helping hand on your projects and could always use another opinion for mine. As always you guys have been here for that, which is what brings us together to enjoy our passion, Buicks.

I'll keep you all up to date when I get settled. Also, I need a storage place near Milwaukee to keep my cars and work on them from time to time so if anyone knows of space for two Buicks please let me know.

    Robert

i find that getting a woman interested in me is fairly easy. flirting and just being myself actually works:Dou: but the problem i have is once i start to feel the relationship is dead-ended, i have a problem ending it without being too harsh. so i end up tending to be "gun shy" for not wanting to go through the hassle of "what if it isnt right". i've been married, been shacked up, and have had a couple of 'really good friends' type relationships, and it doesnt get any easier. so, do i think it is worth the trouble? yes, but the advice i have to give is she has to be smart, not just intellegent, and you have to be able to be friends first and over anything else. the rest will just fall into place if you have this going first:Smarty:

    Guys, Post Your Pix!

You know what, you wrench-turning wizards? If I weren't attached, I'd be trying to meet most of you. I can't think of many more attractive things than a man who knows how to fix up a restored ride (sigh of longing). While you'd be doing that, I'd be working on MY hobbies. Then I'd enjoy stepping out with you in that cool car. Any woman who resents YOUR hobby just doesn't have enough between her ears to keep her occupied. As long as you realize that a marriage requires a good chunk of your free time, and you don't totally IGNORE your wife and kids, there should be plenty of time left over for Buicks.

It is true, it happens when you're not looking because you don't have that air of desperation about you. If you are secure in who you are, it's a real turn-on. I'll bet there are tons of women who'd be climbing over each other to meet you single fellas. So take a chance and post your pix. The Internet is becoming the #1 place for over-40's to meet.

P.S. I'm over 40, working on my Ph.D. met the love of my life on the Net, and he says I'm HOT! (I am SO glad he can't see without his glasses.)

Glad I am not the only one that enjoys his single freedoms. Just turned 29 and I was married at 18 and divorced at 23. Meeting someone just isn't a priority.

    GSXMEN Got Jesus?

Ronnie - After walking my sister's dog DelRey all over SoCal....I can vouch for the 'chick magnet' reasoning in having a dog. Especially this one!!:TU: I've gotten into more conversations with some extraordinary looking girls while walking DelRey, than would have happened otherwise. Definitely a real 'ice breaker' or 'conversation starter'. Nothing wrong with a little extra attention!!:bglasses: :TU:

I seriously may do it. I just don't know where to go. There are a few parks around Nashville....hhhmmmm

    GSXMEN Got Jesus?

I would suggest near one of the Universities....or maybe around the Waterfront downtown. I'm sure there's plenty of other places.

Ya know.....you might be onto a new business here!! Start up a little Dog Rental Store....you know - for single guys looking to pick up something on the side!!:TU: (There should be a poop joke here somewhere).:Brow:

Chin up....it'll happen soon enough. :TU: Hopefully, for me too!!

Insane Buick maybe in another decade

well i'm the youngest on this thread...21, single...and right now i'm happy to be single! i just got out of a few "weird" relantionships....just didn't leave a good taste in my mouth.

i too long for someone that i could hang out with and just keep enjoying what i like doing...but too many girls around here are just that....GIRLS!

i do have a motorcycle though and even though i don't think it looks that great....WOW people love it, and a lot of girls have looked my way more and talked more too...but i bought it to enjoy riding it! its a blast, just like taking the buick around to...

but being single gives me time with friends...i have two groups of them and sometimes its hard enough to enjoy all my time with them...but its all good, cause its my life...and i choice how i live....Straight-edge christian punk....i'm a very unique type of guy...heck, even my mom told me "i just don't understand why a 21 year old guy wants with a wagon" refering to my 65 sportwagon :Brow:

and when you least expect it....yah i know i'm still young and all...but seriously, they come along and then they find out how i live my life...and for some reason they think i'm weird for not being a drinker, or a smoker, or party guy, or want the newest and the best stuff! its odd...i'm easy going but they find me wierd...

    ohh well...love my buicks!

    daniel duncan

ps...thanks for letting me steam a bit!

Robert, I'm in mke area though i dont have any wrenching or storage space besides the parking lot behind my apt.
though drop me a line if you want some wrenching help or just some bench racing. mine needs little wrenching right now so dont need a whole lot. generally when i do serious wrenching its back in northern IL in the parents garage.

Ok, ok, ok, the puppy in the park or on the beach is right out of the movies. Remember, Boomerang with Eddie Murphy??? He pays someone $20 just for a dog leash so he can meet Robin Givens in the park. Too sly!:Brow:

You have to admit that is a very good idea. If there was ever a way to break the ice, this would be one way to do it.:TU:

Gang, as a dog owner/lover just be warned about what you're getting in to when you own a dog. While the idea of using them to meet people is great, please don't JUST get them for that reason.

They require your attention and devotion.

    They must be trained.

Other than that they are by far the best companion you will ever have. It's just the letting go when they're 12 or so that hurts...

You know what works even better than a puppy? A baby! Grab your neices and nephews, and you can return them when you are done :)

Keep doing the things you like to do, and you'll meet someone with similar interests.....but you might want to expand yor interests....try something new!
Join some clubs that have group outings (biking, hiking, etc), or take some night classes in something like photography, yoga (LOTS of ladies like yoga....and it's good for you), or even quilt making  .
I'm 42, still single, and have dated more in the last 5 years, than I have in the previous 20! Take your time, there's no need to rush into anything....There are LOTS of miserable couples out there....you don't want to be one of those!....
