Hey Jim, Im new Buicks and Im about to rebuild my engine. I was wondering what it will cost to do all of the porting on the Edelbrock heads. I figure that if you spend 2500 on TA heads and another 700 on roller rockers. Thats already 3200 bucks. It may be better to spend 1800 on eddy heads and 200 on roller rockers plus your porting service. Thank you for posting your results.

I've never done business with Jim B. or met him personally - I do appreciate the information he posts as more information (is usually) better .... but

I dont for one second believe that the reason for this thread - Free head porting on the first set of Edelbrock heads - is for 100% Altruistic reasons.

Personally I see it as a way to investigate the heads without having to spend $1800 on a set to play with ... and if the results are good it certainly will drive some business his way from free publicity.

....actually it is a pretty smart business play

Lighten up. I dont think Jim said anything about you, his comments appear to have been directed at Bruno, and IMO rightfully so. I took Bruno's comments to be a blast of Mr. Burek as well, and totally uncalled for.

You playing the "I'm your customer" trump card is out of line and like so many other posts in this thread, has absolutely nothing positive to add. :rant:

Jim, please do me a favor....... delete your original post on this thread, and send this huge turd of a thread swirling right down the sh*tter! Send your customer his data sheet and let everyone else figure their own heads out.

As a member of a somewhat "unbelievable bunch of Buick enthusiasts", as well as a customer of TA Perf,Poston, Tri-Shield Perf,as well as PAE, I have had extremely good customer relations with all of the above. I asked JB for a recommendation for a cam and lifters and gave him my info and he was generous enough to take time to give me a cam that best suited my build. I have had absolutely NO problems with JB and will in the future be a customer again.(Not that I am not one now). It saddens me to see this BS going on on all the Buick boards. Makes me wonder why the Hell I want a freaking Buick. Every day I am closer and closer to putting a BBC in my car so I might tick people off. For Gods sake guys,why not at least attempt to get along. I agree with Larry,sometimes peoples words are taken a whole different way than they appear. I know...Been there done that. I try to post informative posts and responses as well as get answers to some of my perhaps dumb questions(to a few) but this attitude has to stop,or we'll self destruct real fast. I am 44 years old and will act it if others can act their age as well. Lets get the flow numbers as we are all interesed in that part of the thread. I remember not long ago people bashing the E brocks and now we have an interest to see what they are capable.For me I will eventually purchase a set of TA Stage 2 heads(unless Mike feels sorry for me and gives me a set..Hint..Hint :laugh: ) but that is my choice as I want to go alot faster than I have ever went.I am really interested to see how these heads react to porting and am curious to see how the rocker(OMG A CHEVY PART ON A BUICK ou: ou: ) will do. I bet they get at least 15/10ths quicker in the 1/4 mile because the SBC parts will be better than any BBB parts... :laugh:
So, with that thought...show me the money..... :laugh:

This group (maybe all the internet groups) is like a little high school clique. If you're one of the chosen ones, annointed or self-appointed, or the lemmings that follow them I guess its alright to slam indirectly or directly anyone who's treading on their sacred ground.
You think Jim B. offered to port the 1st set of heads for publicity? That may be somewhat true, but he still made the offer and came through with it. Does the benefits to everyone outweigh his gains? I think so. But that's more than any other person with a bench offered to do. You think Jim Weise put up the photos of Larry's Stage 1 or Jim Lore's GSX to not get any recognition? And that isn't considered "free publicity"? Fine by me, I like to see the "art" it takes to take on and complete a job like that, it helps all of us. But so does Jim Bureks offering, and he didn't get paid to do it. Jim B. more often than not conducts himself even with the attacks with a high degree of integrity and for that I respect him. And he still offers information to help anyone who asks.
Obviously Bruno's comments were meant to say exactly what he said. Nothing was misconstrued or taken out of context. He misread a particular post and said some stupid things and anybody that read it knew what he "meant". If not how did this controversy start?
And then the question remains. How did his comments raise the bar in our little pond of automotive recognition?

If the Buick crowd loses Jim Burek, it will lose a lot more than it can afford, unless you can look into the future and see that probably 75 percent of all Buicks(new and old) will be chevy powered, because engines don't last forever, and if the vendors aren't there to supply the parts needed to do the rebuilds and supply aftermarket blocks(if that will ever be an option for Buick guys anyways) and such, then you can kiss Buick power down the drain; and as if Buick power isn't almost down the drain anyways! :rant: Come on guys, we can do much better than this, how about we let our cars do the talking for us and leave our own mouths out of question, because all we are doing here is blowing everything way out of porportion.
